That's awful news for the Crusaders.

IMO there own fault though, surely they know how to get a correct visa for a player

Wasn't this reported last month that some of the players are registered as working for the owners company & not directly by the club. So much for the RFL checks on visas & eligability, especialy as some go back to 2006. Feel a bit sorry for the supports as IMO they have been rushed into SL by the RFL & Sky. They should have been given until the next franchise (if it happens as the RFL change their minds as often as their socks) when they would have been better established & maybe won the Championship a couple of times as any sort of sucess would have pulled in more support.

makes you wonder if any consequences will follow, either to the Crusaders or the RFL, is it is a illegal offence to employ a worker without the proper permits....................hmmmmmmm

You only have to look at how long it's taken us to get visa's etc. for players from down under in the past, look at Leeds with Eastwood.
Any thoughts on how this should effect the points they have won over the season, not many wins for them I know, but could have a bearing on the league table? I guess the RFL might take away any points Celtic have amassed (all 6 of them) but keep the other side of things as they are.
Celtic really should be relegated at the end of the season following such an event, not only playing players who shouldn't play, but effectively breaking the law of the land, other teams have to play by the rules and so should they.

Yeah but i highly doubt the RFL will relegate them, yeah it seems like the most potent punishment, but its the RFL's love child and there big expansion scheme. Taking away there points is hardly a punishment. Maybe give them minus points to start next season with???

i think there is a much bigger point to all this, all the players that are named in the first post were in the promotion winning team last year, so how did they get away with that, were it not for those players maybe halifax leigh or even widnes would have come up instead of having a team that will need to be constantly bailed out by the RL until they will almost certainly cease to be, i reckon give it another 2 years and say another million £ down the tubes and there will be no SL team in wales

I think everything was fine then (last year) but then they went home in the off season and it was when they wanted to come back that the visa's were originally refused. This was around the time that the UK border agency tightened up on everything.

TBH I don't see what all the outrage is about. These players were playing for them perfectly legally in NL1, their only crime was to want to spend xmas with their families. Even then IIRC they were checked and allowed back in to play... so what's changed now?

I appreciate it's not the populist bandwagon view given that everyone in this poxy country seems to live their lives according to Daily Mail scaremongering, but frankly if anything stinks it's these new immigration laws.

What promotion winning team? There was no promotion. Crusaders, like us and everybody else, are in SL because of a franchise application – not because of what they did in the 2008 GF.

I reckon some Cas fans could do with remembering that the only reason they are in Superleague this season is the franchise system. It saved your asses from another relegation experience so how you can suggest that Fax and all that lot would have been in had it not been for Celtic when you yourselves would have been relegated had it not been for the franchise system, I really don't know.

Not really. You still finished bottom so would have been relegated, had it not been for the franchise system. It's great that you weren't, don't get me wrong. I love the way Cas play rugby (well, when they decide to play!

). However, if Cas fans are saying Celtic shouldn't have been allowed in when they themselves shouldn't have been either (based on the pre-franchise system), that smacks a bit of hypocrisy don't you think? And does make them look a tad silly, too.

The problem with this is "Cas Fans". As it happens there are plenty of "Cas Fans" who don't trot out this tripe, and there are plenty of "Other Fans" including, would you believe it, "Saints Fans" who do.

If you read my first post you will see that I quantified my initial statement. I didn't think I had to a second time because it was already on the thread.

I think it's worth quantifying every time, to be honest. I'd also contend your glib assertion that franchises "saved our asses", but that's another story.
