| OK Here we go.
There have been lots of rumours about what is really going on but because of the impending court case 'silence', so the silence has been broken on the issue by Sale rugby Union (statement below). Not only serious for our game but sport in general.
Over to the Lawyers I think.
Denny Solomona has retired from Rugby League, according to Sale Sharks’ director of rugby.
The 23-year-old winger has failed to turn up for training at Castleford during the off-season, and he posted a video on Instagram earlier this month in the presence of several Sale Sharks players.
The rugby union club are thought to have agreed a deal with the Samoan international, however, Steve Diamond claims that they are just one of several clubs trying to sign the player after his retirement from the 13-man code.
“Sale and a number of clubs are interested in signing him,” Diamond said.
“He’s got a friendship with Sam Tuitupou and he’s been you have a look around Carrington and that’s where we’re at with it.

| Just reading Twitter Sale have had him looking around Carrington training ground, and if Sale aren't paying a fee to Cas you can bet they'll pay his legal fees, never trust Rugby Union to be honest along with his agent! I sincerely hope Cas take him to the cleaners and the RFL ban his agent,

| Surely if a contracted player resigns and takes the offer of a new contract in a different sport it's breach of contract? If there's no financial penalty for this, I really fear some of our best contracted players could soon be targeted by more union clubs with a much higher cap.

| Sale Sharks are living up to their nickname. union rugger types are always blathering on about the principles of fair play which govern their game. Hypocrites.
The High Court case should be very interesting - and set a precedent.
of course, Judas Solomona having "retired" from RL, should he fail to make it in union - and that is far from certain - he shouldn't be allowed to crawl back to our sport.

Weren't there twitter pics of D.S wearing Sale training gear in early Nov which were quickly removed?. I wouldn't believe anything Sale will say.
As for Andy Clarke....great way to potentially wreck a sport your brother works in!

| The guy owes Cas for who he is today, nobody had heard of him a couple of seasons ago, he obviously has no morals.
At least Castleford hold his league registration, and he wouldn't be able to return to League should he fail to make it in RU.
One things for sure, he wont be scoring 40 tries next season!

As I said, this will get settled in the courts. Obviously it may never get that far.
https://www.claytonutz.com/knowledge/20 ... v-williams
My other point is that Steve Diamond has dragged the role of the sports coach into the gutter.
Andy Clarke has dragged the role of the agent further into the gutter.
Denny Solomona is guilty of listening to bad advice.

No surprise there. He's stuffed us(Bulls) a couple of times. The only solution is for people to stop dealing with him but at the end of the day clubs will always put self interest first.

| Looking logically, although the law is often an ass, unless there were medical grounds for him to retire he has to honour his contract. It would be the same if we wanted to play professional football. He couldn't because he'd be breaking his original contract. I can only think he's a complete dick or his agents a sh.. by badly advising him. Totally unprofessional - same as Sandow, Segayaro.
I suspect unfortunately even if Cas win he won't lay again. But money will probably talk and Sale will cough up.
The Rfl and all league supporters should be supporting Cas to the hilt.
Good luck.

Well, lets not stoop to Unions level, its not that long ago that Union was banning their players from ever playing their version again if they switched to RL, contracts weren't even an issue, most were ooc, free agents, all they had to do was play RL professionally, I don't think we want that kind of pathetic assholery in our sport.
No, this is Sale's and the RFU's barrel of monkeys to sort out, if DS doesn't want to play for Cas anymore nobody can do anything about that, it happens all the time in sport, Cas gotta let him go and take the money, the money Sale should be paying for the transfer is what its about, and less about DS's lack of commitment/professionalism.
It is a measure of the utter disdain and contempt the RFU have for RL as a sport, to accept that they owe Cas would be to admit they are competing with RL for market share, its a far greater insult to ignore that a sport even exists than to do business with it and fund it indirectly.
I suppose there won't be much mileage in going to court with a case revolving around the similarities of both games and the idea that players are fairly readily interchangeable, although that's really the crux of the thing, no they're gonna try bugger Sale up by preventing DS from playing by arguing the toss about contract technicalities between DS and Cas, which will not fix the broader issue.

| For once I'd say the whole of rugby league is backing Cas and the RFL on this one.
Sale need to respect the contract that Solomona signed and either pay to end the contract or leave him to work his contract.
The RFU have said it's a club issue and not their problem.

| It's a massive shame that players seem to treat contracts with no regard and it's increasing.
Loyalty is a thing of the past not for all but definitely a growing number of players.
When you take in to consideration the self interest of the clubs in certain circumstances the games in a mess.
I'm willing to bet that this will not be the last case and the R L must act immediately.

| Sale and the RFU have the money to prolong a case.
But I don't see how it can be 'allowed' that he just retires from a contract. So he's going to stop running round a grassy pitch, catching and throwing an oval shaped ball, attempting to score a try, and try his hand at a completely different sport, running round a grassy pitch, catching and throwing an oval shaped ball, attempting to score a try.... oh wait.....
I feel for Cas, and hope this is resolved properly. They've invested in this player, put a lot of work into making him as good as he is, and it's like a kick in the balls that he would do this.
This case could revolutionise sport contracts.

| Does this mean Josh Charnley can simply 'retire' and return to league if he doesn't take to union no fee's involved? Also didn't South's pay Bath for Burgess's return to league?

| From a Rhinos fan in peace, hoping that you get justice in this matter.
Is it possible that Cas could take out an injunction to prevent Solomona from playing until the matter is resolved in court or via some settlement acceptable to Cas.?
