Not having a pop at you directly I dont know you - but that is exactly the attitude I hate, somehow that there is a victimless crime in theft from people who "are insured" or "they can afford it".

I would suggest if you look in to the structure of corporate insurances, excess payments and the punitive nature of the way they work - that it is not victimless.

Be lucky for it not to have a cap-ex cost of £5-10k in the next financial year minimum if you claim on the insurance.

My house is insured, but I would be sure to give someone a tester if they were in it trying to take my tele.

Insured or not, that will cost Cas in either replacement costs or premiums.

Death by electrocution isn't part of the British justice system, not for any crime. Certainly not for theft.

Agreed. It's a significant enough risk for professionals who know what they're doing, so anyone d*cking about with live conductors for whatever reason without the proper knowledge is pretty damn stupid.


A Darwin award, yes - I mentioned stupidity above. But IMHO to consider death an appropriate punishment for stealing is no kind of justice, rough or otherwise.

Wether or not you consider it due punishment that's up to you but I can assure you that the world is better of without such people.

i agree with you Kinsley, theft is one of the worst things that can happen to any person, and if any body doesn't think theft is all that bad then leave a key on your door step and tell them it's OK, when some one steels your property it's devastating

As devastating as telling a mother her kid's dead? Losing a loved one is THE worst thing that can happen to someone, end of. If somebody was robbing my house I guarantee you the old bill would be telling someone they'd lost a loved one.

My other halfs friend got burgled in the run up to Christmas. Took most of kiddies Christmas presents, what they didn't take the opened and destroyed plus smashed the tvs, the lizard home and left 3 knifes on the bed upstairs. Good thing she wasn't home eh?

so what would you do to the people who steel high voltage cables, not just the ground but from train signals and points , when a couple of trains get derailed and people hurt or killed you can give him a slap on the hands and say dont do it again,
and yes we can buy new possessions, but if it ever happens to me again i would find out who they are, he, her, or what ever would not break in ever again

In a sense you are right, however if someone is killed committing a criminal offence and especially such a well known and dangerous one as live cable theft, it's not hard to see the sense of justice is it?

You're right. It's not part of the British justice system. My comment was that it was a just outcome for someone who was breaking the law. One less person for the system to support and "rehabilitate" had they survived. Call it harsh but I am sick of suffering and paying through the nose for those who are too bone idle to work and earn an honest days pay.

i can't comment on the part of people not working, because im one of those people, who don't work any more, and i will never work again, but on the thieving part, i hat these people, they caused havoc in my family and if i had court them at the time, i might have now been classed as a criminal, but it turned out to be the worst year of my life & it all started with thieving bar-stewards, so for me a slap on the wrist is not good enough
unless it's done with a sharp object

Let's hope that all you bloodthirsty, Judge Dredd types never have a child who goes off the rails and does something outside the law.
