| Tesco have objected, only reason they would have to do that is so they can build on WR, good news.

| Back on topic, i think this is just as likely to be good news for cas as bad.
The sooner all this stuff is sorted out, the sooner neverdid can return to the mothership, and we can all focus on a spot of rugby!!!!!

If you read the thread you'll see most Wakefield fans are not up for the bash Cas discussion. People are now realising that we are both in the same boat and we need each other to be successful (ish)
No point starting it again.
Lets all talk again when we are discussing which one of our nice new stadiums is the most shiny.
Although it might look great on the surface if one or other fails in the stadium bid, both will benefit from the others success as the rivalry will be even bigger and more attractive to be involved with regardless where you live.
I will still be screaming my head off at every Cas Wakefield game and hope we beat the living daylights out of you, but from your club building an infrastructure and stadium point of view, hope it goes according to plan.

| So Tesco have pulled out hmm? Nothing to do with on going negotiations because a second Supermarket has got involved
Tesco are objecting to Aire Street for a reason, and I think most of you know why.

You must be looking at a different thread, looks an awful lot like the majority are getting all excited over nothing on the off chance it means Cas fails.

Absolutely and totally untrue.
To inject some facts into the proceedings, there are 32 posts on that thread and not a single one from someone who is 'getting off' on the chance that Cas might fail. Considerably less, it's worth pointing out, than the unctious bile posted on the dreadful 'casforum' under the thread that closely monitors the Wakefield Community Stadium. (You know, the forum where your very own Fully recently suggested Cas fans should object to the development, to scupper WTW's chances of progression?)
Drama-queens like you who walk around hefting a massive chip on their shoulder are the reason threads like these descend into pathetic slanging matches. Grow up.

| Amazing how a load of Wakefield fans happen to know more about what's going on with the Wheldon Road development than anyone who is actually involved in the process, isn't it?

| I wouldnt pay too much notice, over the years i've heard tons of rumours about cas coming out of wakey, all of them negative and must complete bunkum, just wishful think from a few sad and desperate individuals.
I bet none of their sources can tell them what other site tesco apparently favour.

| Tesco have essentially said what everyone else has, the Aire Street location is simply not up to scratch for building a Supermarket on and never has been, EH would be better off just leaving it well alone especially considering they're already alienating parts of the town who value the rugby team much more than a crap town centre with nothing of note in it.

What's laughable is you keep referring to that post, which was very much tongue in cheek and was a joke. But still, you let your bitterness prevail you.

| In respect of this, in place of Bonzo and the other mods not present, may I redirect people to take the opportunity to read the AUP.
Particularly this bit:
Quote 1.4. Messages intended to destroy threads or to only increase post counts are prohibited
* Users who intentionally aim to prevent conversation on a thread will have their posts removed and risk losing posting rights on the board in question, or to the whole site.
'"
And this one:
Quote 2.1. Comments that are wholly designed to upset or cause distress to other members are prohibited on this site.
* We will not tolerate threatening or abusive behaviour. Anyone who is found guilty of acting this way towards any member risks being banned from RLFANS.
* Racist, homophobic, or similarly offensive content is unacceptable.
* This includes messages sent via the Private Message system.
* Where a user wishes to keep their identity private this should be respected.

| And finally back on to the topic.
I've read the Wakey thread - no one offers nothing in particular, no facts, only hear-say. I find it quite amusing that there appears to be a different thread regarding Cas every week. Stadium, Millward, ST sales, squads etc etc. It's getting rather tiresome particularly when the mods on there are more proactive, locking threads and then it all gets dragged on to here because some posters can't hold their water and just want to post (quite frankly) ill-informed rubbish and it really is ruining it for the enjoyment of others. One member even posts that we've thrown an obstacle in for Newmarket? I'd be intrigued to hear about that...perhaps that poster (forgotten who) can shed more light on that
With regard to this, the Tesco objection is certainly welcome news for the Tigers. It means that they are firmly against EH who are real only threat at the moment. No one else has come out of the woodwork and Opus are working tirelessly on our plans.

| Having read Binks' post on the Wakefield board, and as someone who has absolutely no knowledge of the current supermarket situation in Castleford, it looks to me like Tesco are objecting simply because the site is too small for them, but they don't want to see a smaller supermarket built on the site to take trade away from wherever their ideal location would be. That could be Wheldon Road or somewhere else. So whilst it's not bad news for Cas (Tigers), it's not cast iron good news either... just news.
Does that sound fair, or am I "trolling" (again)?

Think that's precisely what it is, but Tesco also go on to say that other Supermarkets have deemed the site insufficient for food retail (size, parking etc)

It's a rather vague statement, though, isn't it? What may be too small for Tesco may not be too small for Aldi or Lidl (unless you already have one or both of these). Either way, it implies that Tesco are still looking at Castleford as a viable location, depending on whether they get their ideal site and can keep their competitors out of town. All to play for, as they say.

FWIW The difference is this -
Aire Street Food retail (Tesco/morrison??) is approx 7500 sq meters spread over 2 floors (with all the added service/running costs that would come with it) within a 7 storey block including car parking, other retail and 80 appartments on a small footprint town centre(!!) site.
Wheldon Road food retail is 8000 sq meters in an "off the shelf flat pack" building plus parking and petrol station all on ground level with easy build access.
Which would you or I or Tesco or Morrisons go for?
AFAIK Aldi or Lidl don't do 8000 sq metre supermarkets.

I'd go for the smaller area, as I don't have sufficient stuff to sell on 8 sq metres, never mind 8,000.
Seriously, though... I wasn't suggesting either Lidl or Aldi do large developments, and I don't know which supermarkets already exist in Cas. However, a smaller retail area may be of interest to either of those chains, if they have no presence in the town, and may put Tesco off developing a larger plot, even if it is at less cost. I don't think either chain would be considered as Tesco's main rivals, but they may take sufficient trade away to make a Tesco development elsewhere less viable. I'm only commenting on a possible reason for the Tesco objection to development from what I've read of their submission, nothing more.

There are no facts - that's patently obvious. It's all rumours/conjecture. Perhaps someone has been creating rubbish and feeding it to the Wakey lot over't common in the hope of putting more obstacles in the way of Opus. Who knows?

The hypocrisy is breath taking on you Fully mate. You've done nothing but shout about the Glasshoughton project from the tree tops when you don't actually have a clue whats going on. Your first reaction to this latest news was to plaster it all over the forums with your own personal spin on it. Your only source of information is Dickie Wrights press releases and your own personal speculation. We've had all this with the Ben Bailey housing project that I told you was doomed to failure without any extra funding. This Opus thing has more holes in it than a block of Swiss cheese. Nobody outside of the inner circle knows what’s going so please don't pretend you do!

My source is a Director of Limes Development, he's acted as an Agent for Tesco for over 20 years, if Tesco heve bought a site anywhere in the UK you can bet that the paperwork has crossed his desk at some point and if it's a major build or a tactically difficult situation he'll have dealt with it personally.
I've known him for over 10 years via two separate and very different transactions.
