Not too applicable to us since we're not spending to the full cap but...
Quote From next season, clubs which produce players for England's elite training squad and the Knights will be given special dispensation to break the £1.65million cap.'"
www1.skysports.com/rugby-league/ ... 6/7305083/
In short, for every England elite or knights squad member developed by the club or currently on your club squad, you can spend £x over and above the cap limit.
So, for Joe Arundel we get 2 x dispensations since he was developed here and is still here.
For Joe Westerman & Michael Shenton we get 1 dispensation each for them being developed here.
For Rangi we get 1 for him being on the books here.
So we currently receive an extra 5 x £x on top of the £1.65m allowed.
On a similar topic, Craig Huby will complete his 10th season with the club this year meaning from 2013 only 50% of his wage will count against the cap.
As I say, all very good but not really applicable since we're not up to the cap limit as it is.

| Interesting stuff, this actually seems to be a model that rewards loyalty and further stimulates player development.
Particularly the 10 years and the 2 x dispensation.
I think this will encourage a lot of clubs against signing average journeymen in lieu of giving some of their U20's a little more patience. We must have all got it wrong, becuase this seems logical and positive.

| If Milner gets into the Knights squad next season and with Peacock and Morley at the end of their england careers giving Huby a shot at England, out cap potential is huge!

| It smacks of the RFL finding away to appease Wigan, since the loss of "all" their players to RU.

It's their choice whether to spend it or not, just as some people use their credit card to the limit. All it needs is proper management from the top of the club(s)

Like when you properly managed the salary cap, and then you spent half a mill on Fielden knowing you couldn't fit him in your maxed out cap?

And some have unpaid debts, so, if and when they are paid come back and tell me.
You may be suprised to know AG is still paying back those cynicall debts, still if you don't know that you could make it up to suit.

Lets put it this way, if any don't get paid then it will amount to less than the debts owed by a SL club not far from BV.
Whatever people may think of Trin and the old dark ways. AG is doing what he can to repare the damage and run the club the right way.

Because they robbed peter to pay paul but forgot about the tax man, that and the club spent more than it could afford adds up to ADMIN.
Anyway back to the cap, should it be lifted or tweaked George?

Nowt to do with me, Al. Pros and cons. The problem as I see it is that the so-called big clubs get more players singled out for fast-tracking into the national sides. That being the case, it will make the big clubs bigger and the small clubs smaller. It's also no incentive to clubs who can't afford to spend the full cap.
If you support Leeds or Wigan it's obviously a good idea. If it's Cas, then not so good.

That's the point - Wigan went crying to the RFL and this is the result; a change to the cap rules specifically designed to benefit 2 or 3 SL clubs, which will widen the gap between the haves and have-nots even further.
Meanwhile, Wigan fans will say that Tomkins was rubbish in the 4N final because he doesn't get to test himself in super-intense games every week, because half the clubs in SL are makeweights.
It's a quandary, one that I'm not convinced the current incumbents at the RFL have the nouse to unpick.

Are (we) the smaller clubs holding the game back then? i don't think we are because i reckon only 4 clubs could spend more than the cap at this present time, so if thats what they want then it'll soon be a small SL.
Thats why imo it won't change, other than the odd tweak the cap will stay.

As I say, all very good but not really applicable since we're not up to the cap limit as it is.'"
If this plan wasn't anything more than an appeasement for the likes of Wigan, this plan should also include representative players of the rest of the home nations as well, and their second teams, ok it would put the collective SL salary cap up by about £20M and double each clubs potential salary cap spend, but that would make all International players as valued and equally their countries, which is surely the RFLs main aim.
At the end of the day they may as well have left it as it was, Wigan usually spend what they want anyway!
