| According the league weekly, he is off to wakefield, would be pretty happy if this allowed us to bring in a good centre, thoughts?

| Would I prefer Mathers or Goldy at full-back after Richie.
Went off the boil at the end of last season but I would highly doubt we would get rid of anyone unless another club came in to take his contract off our hands.
I'm kind of hoping that if this is the case, we do have someone signed already and lined up.

| Rumours about Mathers leaving have abounded since IM arrived and it makes me wonder whether there is some history between them....were they at Wigan at the same time?

| I quite like Mathers the player, it's just Mathers the person who comes across as a bit of a tool. I'd still prefer Tongia though, but Mathers is certianly an improvement on Blaymire.

| Certainly seems to be on his way out. I'll take some convincing that this is a wise move on our part.

Depends if the intention is to actually bring in players to replace him. IM has already made it known that he sees the backbone of Cas as:
Owen-Chase-Milner/Clark
Mathers, therefore, won't be starting FB and would go against what he joined us from Wire for. With Thompson and Goldy also capable of dropping back and no doubt a youngster in the reserves too, we could probably cover that position.
A big centre and a loose would be nice?

They would. As I say, I could be convinced but it all depends on what the overall makeup of the squad is come February.

| Just the pay-off from Cas to sort and he's on his way enabling Cas to bring in a new threequarter.

| Rumours around are that he is off to Wakey and we are paying half his wages!!!
Really fooked off if this is true as a) think he could still do a job for us and b) if we are as skint as people say then why offer to pay half of his wage!

| Plus yellow_t-shirt paying a player no longer here is lunacy since it cuts our ability to replace him adequately.

Presume he's only going on loan then? I know it happens quite a bit in football (Man City especially given they're paying so many of their unwanted players way over the odds) but clubs only contribute to wages whilst the player is on loan.
The suggestion that Mathers just needs to sort out a pay-off from Cas would indicate it is a permanent move and if he's getting a pay-off I fail to see why we should then be contributing to his wages going forward as well!

Milward has said that owen will be fullback next year, mathers would be rather expensive back up. Also didn't mathers want to leave wire because he didnt get the no1 shirt? He wants to be a first choice fb, which he knows he wont be at cas.

| Never really liked Mathers the person but Mathers the player has skills no doubt about it.
I thought he played well for Cas when I saw him so apart from wanting to play Owen there (which is fair enough) I don't know why you'd get rid.
From Wakefield point of view he would go well. He's an attacking FB but also seems to organise the defence well whichw e will need with a completely new team.
And if you are paying half his wages too you must be mad.
If that deal stands for other players we'll take a couple of those young forwards off your hands too

Well telling us the leaked email about naming rights was for the new stadium and that its was an error by a junior!! Getting Casforum to take down the liableous thread when it was true.
And wasnt Poskitt only bragging about "having to go to london for the Probiz do" only last Friday, and as for Ben Parker is there something going on between him and Gary Schofield ??

They were probably reading the Wakey board where according to our resident board of experts Mathers is rubbish. I expect you will now sign Tongia (who?) who is by contrast and after only 4 games at BV the new Billy Slater.
I rate Mathers though as a Wakey fan I'm not allowed to say that and would take him over Tongia any day - so fingers crossed from me that it's true.
