| Here in peace. Well done today. Got a mate who's playing with gb community lions who's been told you've signed johnny Campbell from batley on a two year deal next season. Ex thornhill full back very pacy and I reckon he could be a very exciting prospect given the correct coaching. Expect you'll have signed for the wing with mathers already signed up.

Our last 2 signings from Batley have been good ones! Hopefully he will be too. Will he have a winners medal after today? He can show that to the rest of the team. The NR cup is something we didn't win!

| Wigan have announced a trio of signings from Melbourne Storm
It is concerning me that we don't have anyone other than Mathers signed up for next season. Why aren't we taking advantage of Melbournes downfall?
If we don't act quickly we will find ourselves in the same situation we have for the past few seasons. Leaving it too late and ending up with players like Clayton!

There are 13 other teams in Super League that will be looking eagerly towards the Storm and their situation. Add to that in the other NRL clubs we have very limited chance of competing with one sides.
The one thing I'm proud of is that I see all these other clubs exploiting loopholes and signing up Australians and yet Cas are building towards an all-English team.

Yup, this can only work in our favour come licence decisions, especially with the number of youngsters we've brought through this term

Indeed. We're currently running on three quota positions, four overseas if you count Evans. We've had a total of 11 homegrown players (Owen, Shenton, Huby, Westerman, Davies, Arundel, Milner, Walker, Massey, Thompson, Holmes) play some part this season, not forgetting Ferres who is a Cas lad too.

Can't speak for the other teams but currently it is expected that we will be releasing 4 quota players and bringing 3 in (of which they are a much higher quality imo).
Add to that the number of youngsters that are regular first teamers, another 5 or 6 who have platyed some part this season, and another 5 or 6 who are out on dual-reg with Widnes and Blackpool.

Yes, but how many of those are going to be shipped out again. Not all youngsters will make it but the point is, Wigan have let so many good players from their own academy go in the past for Aussies and they seem to be doing it again.
I'm not having a go at Wigan - they're well within the rights to fully use the rules/loopholes just as other clubs. But it just smacks of doing it for the sake of it, especially for a club that has just seen the likes of Mossop, Tuson and Sam Tomkins come through the ranks.

I didn't solely mean Melbourne, however I do feel we could have exploited their downfall a little.
My point was more that we have only signed one new player for next year. I was hoping for 2 or 3 at this stage, as like you say, there are 13 other teams competing for players from here and Australia

Bet some of our more "chunky" forwards would be pleased if he signed, they'd feel slim next to him

| Huby is our top forward this season.
He is just at the right age 26 for a forward to mature.
I cant believe how good he has got this season, looks leaner and faster....has a good off load. Most of all he's showing a lot of passion on the field. Our next captian maybe.

| Craig Huby is 24, not 26.
Still got another 7/8 years in him yet. Only 2(?) years off his testimonial season, this being his eighth.

| Huby is a quality prop and must be pushing for, as Stevo says, 'a plane ticket down under for the 4 nations.'

| As good a season as huby has had and as much as I like him he should not play international rugby this year. In the future though? Who know's. He has time on his side and the best development is still ahead of him. Another season almost done and more progression made. Keep your head down and keep up the hard graft chubs.
