i think shifty will land a new 1yr contract for next season.me personally would like to see us bring someone in on rangi's wave length and build round him

You wouldn't like to think they're that stupid. But Cas never seem to suprise me in the recruitment dept (although Danny Nutley was maybe the exception of the decade)

If he gets another year then i will know we're heading backwards with no ambition to succeed. And i dare say our SL days will be over. Ridiculous wage for a player who is injured for more games than he plays and isn't that fantastic when he does play.

I agree with you Paula. Someone young, enthusiastic with a bit of skill but a better kicking game than Rangi would do nicely. Even if its someone not that well known.

Look at Jarrod Sammut for Crusaders, only been in the country 3 weeks and torn two defences to pieces. Although i will admit sometimes he does some silly stuff and is a bit dirty when tackling. But i'm sure TM could coach the defence right out of him

Catalan seem confident they can attract him and they are bottom of the league! I know the sunshine is an attraction but it must be a pain in the backside having to travel long distances for away matches and not being able to understand anyone. Mind you I've heard Hull KR are interested and the same applies to them just without the sunshine!

We have to have some ambition, we can't always find unknown gems like Rangi.

Catalans were after Finch until the end of the season, but they obviously haven't got him. We let our only halfback go. Read between the lines, and you wouldn't be classed as stupid for assuming we have got Finch!

It's not Finch. I think Catalans would have got him if he wanted to move.

He wants to move to England. Just not until next season. Catalans wanted him for the rest of this season and beyond.

He doesn't want to leave Melbourne until next season. He stated as much himself

strong rumours suggesting finch will be at wigan next year. nothing confirmed but rumour is that riddell wants to leave, tommy will push up to hooker with Mcilorum and finch to partner tomkins. all pie in the sky at the min but ian lenaghan has gone to oz this week on a recruitment drive so time will tell

Finch has been linked with every SL club. Remember quota goes down next season too to 4 quota players 1 non-fed.

bailey is likely to go and rumours say phelps is too.also talks of riddell wanting to go home.thats three overseas spots, + feka also rumoured to be on his way out. the quota spots would not affect us as space is likely to be freed up

Rest of squad to be from players trained within same federation.

Same federation - any player still under 21 and/or has completed 3 years service with other clubs academy set ups within UK (for UK SL clubs) or France (for Catalans etc)

Overseas quota players - as per current rules i.e. Anyone unable to prove origins within EU or Kolpak countries.

Overseas trained - any other overseas player (EU passport or Kolpak etc.)

Next season, AFAIK, McGoldrick can apply to come off quota like you said. Sherwin has gone so that removes one more and means we have one spot for this year too.
