| I still reckon we'll see Clayton given another year and I haven't given up hope on Boyle being offered another deal although admittedly it does look unlikely now.
Clayton has impressed me since returning but as many will attest to, he's no world beater.
Boyle looks like he could do great things and it would be nice to see him do that at his home town club but it seems that for whatever reason he isn't going to be kept on. We can all speculate as to why that may be, but I guess we might never really know the truth.
Feather hasn't earned another deal and has looked poor for the majority of the season after good early signs.

| been a long time coming and largely expected. Trying to pre-empt the moaning to come:
We demand our coach got us promoted, we demanded our coach improved out 12th finish and targetted the play-offs - so now we need to trust he knows what he's doing.
There can't be anyone on here who claims to have better insight into players at the club's potential, how they train and how far in the game they can go. I often think I know best and give my opinion but truly, I don't.
A few years ago I was cock-a-hoop when we signed Andrew John's halfback partner from Australia....... We all know how Rudder turned out and a few years before that when we signed a journeyman stand-off who started badly and eventually was so average at 6 we had to move him to 13 and we all kow how Vowles turned out.
So, lets not roll out the "sack TM and his aussie favourites" banner until we get to February and see the 'new' on field product.
I agree I would rather have kept Boyle in MY OPINION, but if there is something else going on here that I don't read in the program or see on the field, then I have to trust Terry. Just like I would not accept anyone in my company telling me how to run my part of the business.

| I didn't realise that this was an official announcement, more an assumption that new deals hadn't been offered and therefore they were gone.
It's a massive shame about Boyle but I guess we'll see if it was a mistake or not at some point down the line.

| States that these three plus James Ford are the only ones leaving the senior squad. Does that mean we can take netherton as having signed a new deal.
just a thought or am i reading between the lines

| I'm sure RW made a statement recently saying they were in talks with Netherton about extending his contract.
so thats 5 out (Faumuina, Ford, Clayton, Feather, Boyle)
and 2 In (Jackson, Snitch) do far.

Perfectly sane and reasonable outlook.
Cue the sack TM brigade, Ryan Boyle was the second coming of the messiah

| dont know all the reasons for letting boyley go but can not think that jackson will offer anything better ryan. most people know that he is only 21/22 years old and jackson about 30/31 years old, just dont understand it at all, the games i have seen him in, he has done well. to keep picking clayton in place of him on a regular basis must have hurt him too.

| Like the majority on here I'm disappointed to see Boyle being let go but will hold fire on too much criticism and see how this pans out in the long term. Of the others can't say I'm too bothered.
What does concern me is the apparent planned size of next years squad.
5 first team players have been let go and so far 2 have been signed. Matterson is quoted as saying that he plans to bring in 'a couple more'.
It doesn't take a maths genius to see that leaves us a player down on this seasons squad that most people considered too small, albeit we were relatively lucky with injuries this season (not having more than 3 or 4 out at any 1 time) so got away with it.
The promoting of junior players to the first team squad was used as a bit of a smoke screen with our squad size this year. Although we had 27/28 players given a first team squad number around 7 of these were juniors who Matterson clearly didn't want to risk in Superleague as they got very little if any game time.
I can't help but look at the number of players the likes of Wakey and Hull had to do without for much of this season. In the early part of the season Wakey had 8-10 players out injured for a number of weeks but were able to put a side on the field that was not only competitive but actually won a fair number of games.
If Cas had 8 or more of our first team out injured this season we'd have been about as good as Celtic and won about as many games! It doesn't look like that situation is about to be improved in 2010.

| Saw Boyle in Wakie during the "mad monday" do, and after having a talk with him he confessed that he is very sad to be leaving the Tigers saying and i quote " I tried my best and pleaded ".
Sad to see him go imo, heart was at Cas
Also good luck to Chris and Ryan Clayton also, Ryan seemed to try hard towards the back end, too little to late i guess.
Good luck all you guys

| It is very sad to see Boyle go he’s more loyal to Cas then most of the aussies put together, it’s a shame that cas couldn’t sign him and just send him on loan for a few months to Salford, where he is rumoured to be heading for

I'm curious about your comment regarding the loyalty of our aussies contingent, who hasnt shown loyalty?
Goldie Stuck with us when we were relegated, and has turned down approaces from wigan.
Widders came over early to get himself up to speed and had to be without his family for a long time.
Sarge has never shown anything to suggest that he is anything but 100% commited to cas.
sherwin and evans havent done anything that suggests that they arent loyal to the club (unless you count be injured as disloyal).
I'm sorry to see boyley go , but i really dont know where you are coming from with the whole loyalty comment.

| Goldy was never offered a contract by wigan it was purely publicity ‘leaked’ to the press by his old pal mick robinson.
The aussies get paid ridiculous wages that’s the only reason they are at cas, if you talk to the boys immediately after the games when they have lost, the only ones disheartened and upset are the local lads.
When its there day off the only boys doing ‘extras’ are the local lads. The only ones doing promo’s with kids are the local lads because they grew up supporting cas and know how important cas is to the fans
To the aussies it’s a job and one that they get paid a hell of a lot more for than the English kids, to the local lads cas is their life that’s why I think its sad to see boyle go when he has played for the club since he was 15, I would have thought after the loyalty he has shown he may have been shown some back.

1. how do you know what any player is payed?
2. whether goldie was offered a contract or not, he still stayed with us through relegation (and that cant have been for the money as he would have had to have taken a significant pay cut).
3. thats rubbish about community work being only local lads- widders, goldie, chase, hudson, and netherton all do plenty of community work.
4. The only reason players play for clubs is money, its there job, if you dont think shenny and westy are on top wages thats upto you but i would suggest its very naive to think so.

| mcgoldrick taking a pay cut is laughable hes the second highest paid at the club!
i do know what a good deal of the players are paid and this is because i know a couple of them very well and socialise with the boys after games, if it was just a job then why did shenny stay last year when he was offered more money at another 3 clubs and why is richy trying to negotiate a deal with cas even though he has been offered HUGE amounts of money to leave! ryan is not in their league with his wage and thats rightly so as he is not in their playing league, but he also hasnt left because of money hes left because hes been told he wont be featuring in the first team, he was willing to stay for a pay cut, thats what i mean about loyalty!

I'm willing to bet most people on here dont share the details of there wages with people and that if they did they would probably lie as a wind up. I think you believe you know the wages of all the players at the club but i doubt you would be correct with many of them. And yes mcgoldrick did take a pay cut when we were relagated, he had to with a 400k salary cap in nl1. I'm not saying money is the only factor why a player chooses a club, buts its a damn big part of it.
