With Richard Owen first choice full back and Chase and Sherwin first choice half backs, just wondered peoples opinions on how Ryan McGoldric will fit in the team??

I personally would have him on the bench has cover for the half backs and full back/centre.

Play him at centre where he was supposed to play for us when he first signed. IMO he's a really good centre and he's not anywhere near as good in any of the other positions he's played for us. He did look really good going forward at full back, but I believe his ability under the high ball and his defence let him down.

Yep, have him in the centres and move Evans out onto the wing.

i'm not so sure about moving evans to the wing, he would be the slowest in sl, and his defence which is pretty good would be wasted.

Are you basing that on his squad number? he had the number 1 shirt last year but wasnt our first choice fullback.

why dont we do whats happened for the last couple of seasons pick Ryan first and fit the team round him. cant see the point in changing a winning combination

no need for the expense of a plane just buy him a bus ticket and send him to wales, if they want hm in wales that is. Didnt we try him in the in NL1 and he wasnt good enough so TM tried him in every other position and he still wasnt good enough, no wales is the best idea i think.

So last season it wasn't a case of him starting the season at fullback (as that's where he ended last season) and then moving him into the halves due to an injury to Sherwin?

It's worth a try, no reason why it cant be tried in the friendies.

Problem with that is we expect our LF to make 30-40 tackles a game, just ask Joe. Can't see Goldy having the ability to do that.

play him at fullback were he will only give one penalty away for back chatting to ref per game.Instead of in the frontline where he will give away half a dozen penalties and get sinbind every other game.
5 years on and we still don't know what to do with him,ship him off to Wales.

Put Goldie on the wing. (Preferably any Quantas flight south).

He'd might miss 30-40 per game too! McGoldrick seems to fit into the attacking line better from fullback and can offer quite a few options; but our defence seems more organised with Owen in that position. I'm not sure TM will ever be able to settle on the best place to play Ryan.

Can't see Westy being too happy in the second row either - I heard he hates playing there.

You are spot on about Owen, we seem more assured when he's playing fullback, and he can offer plenty in attack.

Goldy at his best is devastating in attack, i'm not one of his knockers, he just needs to be able to play in one position for a length of time. He started in at least 3 vastly different positions last year. That can't be any good for the player himself.

WHEN Sherwin gets injured this year, i'd like to see us put another halfback in his place. This would take a lot of pressure off Goldy, because he's certainly no 6 or 7

I will give him some credit though, Mcgoldrick doesnt ever seem to pick up injuries,or if he does plays regardless.

Discipline a big problem still, he is a loose cannon,one we cant really afford to have in S.L these days
