| A torn quad muscle apparently. I'm not sure how long these things take, 4 to 6 weeks ?!
Injuries were always going to happen at some stage,(hope Shifty is ok) it's a shame it's our form centre, we are certainly gonna miss him. So how do we re-organise ?
I'm not sure playing Ferres there would be the immediate answer. I would be tempted to play Dixon there and possibly give Ford his chance on the wing, although I think Wainwright will get first shot at it. His lack of pace could be exposed at the KC.
I would also play Chase from the start now.Let him get the combinations going with Shifty at half back and play Sione as an impact player from the bench, to be used in the second row. I think McGoldrick has been fantastic at full back on the whole and I would keep him there, then he can float about on attack.

| I was going to suggest moving Dixon back over into his centre position, switching Owen to the wing with Evans, and then putting Wainright on the wing with Dixon. But that would mean splitting up the Dixon/Evans partnership. I think i'd do what Disco said.

| I'd stick Rangi at 6, put Faumuina in the second row, Ferres/Owen and Evans/Dixon and keep Goldy at fb where i think he's playing very very well. I'd also tell Faumuina i don't want no fancy stuff for this one, just some big hits in the middle. Rangi and Shifty along with Goldy can pull out the fancy stuff.

Goldy looks great running out of FB with ball in hand, but I still hold my breath every time he's under the bomb. Was it Brown who almost picked a sitter off him tonight? I'm not saying Ritchie would be a whole lot safer like, but I think it's worth a go.
Either way I fear for our last gasp defence if Shenny's not there.

| I know what ya mean, but i'm not that overly confident with Owen at FB either and think he's just as prone to mistakes and daft decisions.

| McGoldrick has been fantastic at full back and by moving him, I think we will weaken that position, to fill Shennys void. Maybe your suggestion Marshman of Ferres/Owen wouldn't be that bad on second thoughts, stronger defensively than Dixon / Wainwright. I think they will be facing G Horne / Calderwood with Yeaman / Briscoe up against Evans/Dixon.

| Put Ferres in centres like we did last night.
Wouldn't bother with Dixon/Wainwright - we saw how easily Salford scored tries against those two, Hull would walk through.

| I certainly wouldnt be moving Goldy from FB, he is doing very well this season and I'm certain Owen wouldn't do any better than him at FB, and I don't think anyone we have would go better than Owen on the wing

Absolute rubbish. Never going to set the world alight but he rarely makes mistakes and is fairly strong defensively. You must watch a different Wainwright to me.

| I don't think Wainwright is the best defender but you can't fault his effort. To be honest I'd be more worried about Dixon as centre defender. He's pretty suspect as defender on the wing I think, and Evans is doing a good job of covering for him. Take Evans out and we could be in real trouble.
Leave McGoldrick at FB, Dixon/Evans right, Ferres/Owen left, Put Faumuina in SR and Chase at SO. This will also give us a better kicking option (as Faumuina's kicking is not the best part of his game), which I reckon will be a big factor if we want a win on Friday.

| i thought brett did a fine job has a makeshift centre last night and was a real handful despite the dropped ball and id be inclined to let him mark yeaman next week moving faumina into the back row and chase to stand off with either higgins or boyle coming onto the bench.
a more worrying thing would be if huby gets a game for the high shot,at the gasme it looked bad but on sky it was inconclusive and certainly wasnt a swinging arm more of a body shot to dislodge the ball.

Got to back you on that one and raise you because given the opportunity that Owen was given in the corner then Wainwright would have scored, he has more strength when close to the line than either of our two current wingers.
What does concern me is our utter waste of Joe Westerman. This lad has the distribution skills, a kicking game, pace, can read the game, and can tackle anything in sight. All the comparisons that were made with a young Sculthorpe and what do we do? We constantly give hime the crash ball with 3 men on him and expect him to tackle himself to a stand still. He has such skill levels and yet we put Sione at standoff who cannot pass, cannot support, misses tackles AND most definately cannot kick
We have cover at Centre but we are missing options in the halves-can anyone tell me who is the option other than Shifty for a kick in the opposition twenty?
Rant over for now

Welcome along!
Not a bad suggestion either - there's definitely a case now I think for putting Faumuina in the second row. I think Ferres just about has enough pace for the centres too.

I agree i think he is a very good and pretty quick of the mark the only problem i have with him is he seems to be a bit greedy (likes the glory!)

| Think I might even risk Sione in the centre, he's got plenty of pace and can certainly beat a man, his tackling is OK, but it would depend on who we have available for the pack. I would definitely like to see Rangi back starting at 6, but if Shifty's hand not up to it, we may see Rangi at scrum half.
Saying all that, depending on who we have available, it wouldn't be the end of the world if Michael Wainwright comes in on the wing and Dixon moves into centre, put Sione back in the pack where he can really do some damage.
