Why can't we get into the office at The MBi Shay? Is it flooded?

I know what you mean but we share the pitch and we would moan like hell if the pitch was left in a state. I did see that Town were playing at Shelley in the West Riding Cup or some such tinpot trophy so it looks like they are also making an effort to conserve the playing surface.

With respect, I think statements like this are unhelpful. It's Super League again thinking that they are more important than every one else.
Don't they think that this has hit our peparations? Probably more so than theirs as we were fielding possibly the strongest 19 available.
Have they sent someone over to inspect the pitch? Right now it is raining as hard as it was this morning with more forecast for tonight.
Obviously I/we are very disappointed but knowing the pitch it would seem a reasonable decision.
Who are they to question the councils commitment to Rugby League, that's up to us. Do they think that by questioning it in an open statement the Council will sit up and take notice?

Well I was really looking forward to this game and am very disappointed it's been called off,again it seems the Shay needs to have a better drainage system.

Considering the amount of rain we've had and taking into consideration our stadium partners, probably the common sense decision. No point going down that same road again.

I'm sure if it was a league game a call would have been made tomorrow morning.

At least no one will get injured as well



P.s what another great win for Town. Who says managers only have so much impact....we know better. Both teams seem to have guys who know what they're about.

Why aren't they offering to play it at theirs, if they feel so strongly about it?

Totally agree if giants feel that strong why not switch it doubt would make difference on crowd.

Well folks here at Halifaxjohntowers as I predicted it has rained heavily all night and at present its still pouring down.
However so as the day isn't completely ruined Mrshalifaxjohn is busily preparing a picnic, I am putting the sun loungers in the Halifaxjohnmobile together with parasols, sun tan oil and beach towels.
Off to Hudderfield for the day.
Balmy if not gay day ahead.

What Tim Swift has said on Twitter has suggested that the groundsman had some say in the game been called off and I think he should have a say in debating the condition of the pitch. What we have though is a vested interest with a groundsman who is well known to be a big town fan. Maybe it is time to bring in a neutral where an impartial decision can be made.

I don't know what the state of the pitch was like this morning but considering the rainfall we've had over the last few months and the fact that it was a friendly......one for the credit bank and I'm sure that a more hard headed approach would be taken if it were a league match.

Now GFB makes an important point here, if we're dealing with a groundsman who's got a big fat chip on his shoulder he needs to be taken out of the equation.

That is why a lot of us have a nagging doubt this decision was made in the best interests of the ground staff and Halifax Town and not Halifax RLFC who they seem to have it in for.
They should remember that BOTH clubs contribute to the upkeep of the stadium and one pays more than the other = Fax!
