I agree with most of what you say Rich, but there is more to this than just S/L.

Its about building a competitive squad that could potentially hold their own straight away with increased revenue and sponsorship to boot.

Just 500-750 more paying spectators per home game pays for Chase and Tonga. Its a risk, but it seems a calculated one !

Eggs in one basket ? Maybe, but if we fail to get promoted this season, i feel we will be looking for a new coach.

Halifax have consolidated really well and had a fantastic season last year. It will be competitive that for sure and underestimate you at our peril !

At the end of the day, its 13 v 13.

As for Degsy ? he is here for the long term and it is a lifetime ambition to see the club he loves and supports do well. All these fantastic signings lift the lid on the Championship profile and will close the gap even more on the bottom 4 of SL thats for sure !

Last season Leigh attracted about 2000 fans to each game more than Fax averaging more than double Fax over the season, imo a club is the sum total of its fans so whatever is happening at Leigh Fax need to learn on how to grow its fan base for the future of the club

Winning next years championship will be a good start in that direction...

Why does a Leigh fan feel the need to start a thread on the Fax Forum boasting about a new signing?
We all keep up to date with the rugby news in various media and I'm sure we were all aware that Leigh had signed Tonga.
By all means post it on your forum and I'm sure all your good friends over here will see it sooner or later, but starting a thread on here really does come across as gloating.

You'd think after last season, when this Charlie character ended up looking very very stupid with all his gloating, that he'd have learnt his lesson.

We need to spend the money to bridge that gap rich, in reality not one championship team got near promotion last year (Bradford were never gonna beat wakey) we have got a quality side as if we go up we would only need 4/5 new faces and bulk of the team will be kept together giving us a better chance of staying up

Enforcer ,I've never gloated ,though you may see it that way it's up to you ,as for the thread I was merely informing folk of a piece of RL news nothing more.Again I don't think I ended up looking as you put it ,Very Very Stupid either,after all I ended up 100 quid better of and intend doing so again this season, even the the very vociferous Mr Jagger seems to have gone underground.

Another player past his prime. Coming to a end of a fantastic career. Big names don't mean success. Cant see how Leigh are keeping to salary cap. The gap on spending is becoming bigger and i thought the whole reason with a salary cap was to make it a competitive league. You have Bradford Leigh spending alot more than other teams such as Swinton, Oldham ece.

Going to be like the Leeds teams of the early nineties, overpaid players way past their prime trying to bleed someone dry, in this case DB.

Good afternoon Greg ,hope you are well?As for Derek B and his money?He has already been asked about his investments in players ,it's obvious by giving them all 2 year contracts this is not a short term thing,I think Derek has made it clear this is the second year of his 2 year plan and he doesn't want the same thing happening again like it did at the end of last season.
I think it's a win win situation with away Clubs benefitting from increased crowds as opposing fans turn out to see their team compete against some of the Stars on show,if we are successful and get into SL after next season I think Derek will then go for some younger established players,and hopefully we can invest in our own development of younger players, as we do have a few out on loan in Championship 1.

Lots of talk of us signing players at the end of their careers, but we'll actually have a younger pack next season than we had last. Wilkes (35), Aspinwall (34) and Tommy Goulden (34) leaving or retiring, with Dane Weston (2icon_cool.gif, Corey Paterson (2icon_cool.gif and Harrison Hansen (30) coming in. Maitua is the oldest to come in, but even he's a year younger than the first teamers to leave.

If anyone was wondering whether Leigh's thuggery would calm down next season then the bolded players above will have something to say about that!

Paterson gave McNally a whack in the cup game (sure that's helped him win over many Yorkies!), but don't recall Hansen and Maitua spending too much time at red hall.

DB wont be just buying players he wants. It will be in consultation with the training staff and coach (I know that's obvious) and Paul Rowley knows a thing or two about players and coaching them. They have been the most successful Team in our league for the past few seasons.
I'm looking forward to next season more than ever. The standard for the top 5 teams has, in my opinion improved. If we go full time in 2017 there will be 5 full time teams and this will again improve the standards of this league. This will start to worry the S/L teams if the lower teams are already not keeping an eye on us.
Let DB spend his brass, we will spend what we can afford too as will every other club and lets see what unfolds in 2016. Cant Wait.
