| Quote ="Faxhali"Please see the thread Entitled Big Mistake, 16 pages on there with regards to the sale of the shay, Tony abbott still going about his business and trying to buy it.
Football fans crying constantly that "its not fair" etc and throwing their teddies out of the pram. It will be a long drawn out affair and ultimatly is only a matter of time before a new owner takes over, in whatever guise that turns out to be as the council cannot afford to have this assett bleeding them dry with upkeep costs for a stadium that very few of the community visit ( if any even have ).'"
As said on the "Big Mistake", the Shay is losing a small amount of money. Not enough to warrant being titled as "bleeding them dry"

| On the contrary. Why has the deal taken over a month longer than the 2-3 weeks we were promised by Mr Abbott?

And you're basing this on hypothetical scenarios?
If he wants a place for his new jobs why does he needs the Shay? What about the old Laura Mitchell Clinic?
Are we also trusting a man who claimed he has had no involvement in pay day loan companies?
Remember, Abbott was wrong about the whole 2-3 weeks.

£250K per annum you call that small??
I don't as a Calderdale Council taxpayer and the Majority of residents don't either.

Vaz is the type of "politician" I would expect people like KnobboffNigel and Stupidgeoff (Blubba) to align themselves to.
Only trouble is, you two, Vaz wants to increase the capacity, you don't see the need, and he wants to improve the ground, which you two don't see the need.
Apart from that all he says is great,
Strange thing is, Mr Abbott will buy the ground, get used to it.
Question? When Mr Abbott owns the ground and delivers all his promises will you ever admit you were wrong?
editors note,
Keith Vaz is a Member of Parliament for Leicester East, a corrupt politician, www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... court.html
No wonder he has aligned himself to Knoboffnigel and co.
Yes I know the letter is a spoof, but do Town fans know?

It's only the same as you pinning your hopes on a bunch of part time politicians and a stadium that apparently doesn't erode or weather with time. Abbott's magic beans are no worse than the council's.
Commercial sense should win through at the end of this process with Abbott taking over our stadium and sweating the assets therein. The clubs (with Abbots help) must step up to the plate and come up with a plan to get more Calderdale people watching the respective sporting events.

Our stadium? The Shay is no more the rugby clubs as it is the Footballs. It is owned by the council.

| I said "ours" as joint attendees. See, take off your rugby-hating specs and come back to the table. It's clouding your judgement. It's clouding most of the FC Town fan's judgement. That's the crux of your protest isn't it? Tony Abbott's an egg chaser.
Pathetic.

Hypothetical question which I have asked FCHT fans on Facebook without reply: If and when CMBC announce that they are officially putting the Shay on the market would you rather it was bought by TA/Reactiv (or indeed anyone else who wishes to continue to run it as a stadium) or would you rather it went to a Property Developer who would bulldoze it?

Because the council need the money and personally I'm not all that bothered whether the council retain ownership or it goes to Reactiv (although I slightly favour the latter option). What worries me is that with their hatred for all things Fax FCHT fans would rather see the Shay razed to the ground than fall into the hands of TA/Reactiv. They are constantly stating that he is trying to get it on the cheap but that is with the stipulation that it remains a sports stadium which limits it's value to a potential purchaser. To realise it's full value that stipulation would need to be removed.

| I had much sympathy over the private ownership issue and am still to be convinced by Tony Abbot's plans.
However, the town fans have been a real embarrassment in the way they have approached all this. It is clear it is now a rugby issue with them. There is a danger that, due to their actions, the shay could fall into the hands of unscrupulous landlords or even property developers - as happened to Coventry City, as they oft quote. Will Tony be out of order if he meets some of these people armed with writs?
There should be somebody addressing the fans but in the first place it should be the council.
In small part I suspect they are worried their little club don't hit big enough and will be trampled over. Fair enough.

There's a difference between private ownership to a stranger and private ownership to a man that's invested heavily in a local company and is heavily involved in one of the clubs playing out of the stadium. Some people are able to react differently to changes in circumstances whilst some people (you) are unable to assimilate a different circumstance. Basically you're thick and blinded by the massive elephant in your own personal padded room - That elephant is simply Rugby.

And quite right too, only a moron could pick fault with this statement.
Yes the Council own the Stadium but, it is the joint home of two teams and therefore "ours"
After all many times the Town fans have called us squatters, infering that it is their Stadium.
I just wish the Town supporters could get rid of that great big chip on their shoulders.
