Oh that's OK then. Knock on knock on knock on knock on, bounce off tackles and pass like a complete priick, but as long as you shout at yer team mates then it's all hunky dory. Cheers, rickster, cheers for that insight. Will sleep so much easier tonight now

| from where we were 5 weeks ago,
we now have a 4game season!!! crazy stuff!
the team and the players we have are good enough to win every game, we all know that....they have to turn up and wanna play, we didnt do that for 70mins 2day and thats why we got beat! same for 2nd half againt fev and 75 mins at widnes!
back to basics me thinks, unfortunatly that should have happened a while ago....rugby league is a very simple game when played properly, why do we try and score off every tackle?!

| all i said in my previous post - was that penky , ok he didnt have his best game for fax , but when fax gave a sloppy try away he ranted at his teammates because he cares - he will win more games then he loses.i say it again , keep him at 9 get him involved more , rotate him with gleason , and keep govin at 6.

| Quote ="harry1"rubbish match - haven were lucky that they weren't beaten today in the end - v poor defence from both sides.
I also feel that if the haven player hadn't punched Penky in the face (with both his fists!) he wouldn't have woken up in the manner he did - i have never seen a Fax club doctor harangue a touch judge before - maybe he was checking to see that he hadn't been temporally blinded by all the sand blowing off the sandpit that is the playing surface in front of the skircoat stand!
Lets hope Govin's knee's and shoulders last till the end of the season - amazing what some decent ball can do for our centres and wingers'"
In the first half I thought our defence was outstanding. Albeit we kept putting ourselves under pressure but at one point we kept you out for around 7 sets without getting out of our own half. It's a lot easier to start throwing a ball around when losing 46-14 with 20 minutes left with nothing to lose and that's all Fax did and were close to stealing it late on.
I don't get why your team keep putting themselves under pressure with stupid kick offs. Ok you get some of them back but not all of them and when you were opening up as easily as you did today surely it makes more sense to get the team down the other end of the field. Especially at 0-0. Fax did the same at Whitehaven when 24-0 up after half time put a kick in which never went 10 and changed the game.

Bang on. A good kick off gives your forwards chance to get their early hits in and set the tone.
short kick offs are desparation tactics!
MC not a forward!

Worked fantastic at the start of the season. I like the tactic. Give's us a chance to get the ball IF IMPLEMENTED RIGHT, and if he don't come off we've traded 10 yards ... big deal.

diagree, its important for the forwards to get the changing room adrenalin out, where better then the opponents 25.
we get the ball back on our forty worse case (normally).

I'm sure the short kick off tactic worked, even against cas in the CC. The fact we rarely use it now, or should I say not use it the same way as before (ie Haley jumping like a jumpy thing) might explain our drain of confidence.

'Haven scored the most fluckiest try from a long kick off.
They're the best resart, especially when your fired up.
short kicks for panic points or if your pack is getting creamed.
Anyway they will expect them now so definately go long now.

Agree totally. I cant understand why we have gone away from this tactic when it works so well. Think we got to every short kick off barring 1 yesterday and it was only he fact that other players wernt alert that we didnt come up with the ball more. Even the one where Haven took it cleanly they still ended up where they would of if we had kicked it deep due to the pressure from the Fax defenders.
If it aint broke.........

Our first try of the game came from a short kick off. The only time you went long you got the ball back and the other one hit the post.
Take the kick off from the start of the game. We get the ball on our own 40 rather than ingoal. Edmondson busts a tackle we're now on your 30, put an attacking kick in and force a drop out. Score from the next set. If you'd kicked the ball long, we'd have went 5 drives and a long kick. The first try of the game could've made a big difference. It's not really about using the short kick off it's about using it at the correct time and possibly giving the opposition a little bit more respect.

| Right, I feel I am able to talk about it now. WE WERE CR-P.
In our record breaking relegation year we were cr@p and we knew we were. This year we are good and we know it, but at the moment we're playing cr@p. So annoying.

Like I have said Whitehaven 'do a job' and it does for us.
It won't work on teams with more brains and a pair of half backs though.
Its Barrow or Widnes for the GF, unless we find some form again which is not impossible - here's hoping.
PS. I hope its not you lot in the GF the way you play. Yer it beats us but it aint pretty, of your 8 tries only the clever kick into the corner was from really good rugby, the rest were our errors or slack tackling.
As you can see I don't like Haven

defence wins games , give us some credit,we play a percentage game yes and we know when to build pressure instead of throwing it about
jt , leroy, matty and edmo smashed you all day long forcing error after error which we made the most of, nice moves for gorski to break the line to put eilbeck in , and jt,s try and his off load for edmos try were hardly boring to watch

We've beat every side in this division at some point this season so does that mean that every side in the league must have no brains and lack a pair of half backs. Or you could just praise the way we played. The team play to it's strengths and it's effective. We can hardly be called boring considering the amount of tries we've scored and conceded recently. 6 of our 9 tries on Sunday were scored by wingers as well.

| Repeating myself here but two words:
STAND OFF.
Too late now but you have to question MC's thinking considering he was a back. Maybe he had a bad experience with a stand-off who wouldn't pass to him and has made it his ambition to try not to use them in his teams?

I'll give you credit and especially to the fans that made the journey down, more in hope than expectation (thats the impression i got from the ones i spoke too). I wish we cold play simple rugby at times. All the teams that have beaten us haven't had to do anything outstanding to do so. Were either brilliant or awful, no middle ground whatsoever.
Were a soft touch in defence and very very rarely build any pressure, repeat sets etc.
