| Let's say you win everything in Championship with average attendances of 3000 and get to Quarters of the Challenge Cup. Here's how your accounts could stack up.
Totals
Gate Receipts Season: =#FF0000£360,000 (12 Games, 2 NRC Group, 10 League Fixtures)
Gate Receipts Playoffs: =#FF0000£45,000 (based on 3 games @ 3000 per game, £10 entry, split gates)
Grand Final Gate Receipts: =#FF0000£40,000 (based on 4000 tickets @ £10 entry, i would only expect you to get tickets sold money at best)
Grand Final Winners: =#FF0000£100,000
NRC Knockouts: =#FF0000£30,000 (Quarter & Semi, 3000 @ £10 entry, split gates)
NRC Final: =#FF0000£40,000 (based on 4000 tickets @ £10, entry)
NRC Winners Prize: =#FF0000£50,000 (Guess, don't know what this figure is)
CC 3rd round: =#FF0000£15,000 (3000 attendance but 1500 @ £10 Amatuer opposition, not split gate, but season tickets free)
CC 4th Round: =#FF0000£30,000 (3000 @ £10, based on championship opposition, not split gate)
CC 5th Round: =#FF0000£40,000 (8000 @ £10 based on SL opposition, split gate)
CC Q: =#FF0000£50,000 (10000 @ £10 based on SL opposition, split gate)
CC Prize money: =#FF0000£50,000 Quarter final prize money (Guess, it's about £8,000 for 4th round)
So a club could turnover before sponsorship or other revenues is accounted, comes out at £850,000. Still £150,000 short of the £1,000,000 required for super league application. As we know, no one has won everything this year or last so no one is near the £850,000 on field performance/attendances money.
So there is a lot of money to find to fill the void left to make up the £1,000,000.

Cool little set of revenue streams there BF
Anyhoo, sponsorship [uis[/u counted in turnover. A decent sized cheque written by a wealthy backer would soon tick that box.

| If Tolouse are even allowed to apply, let alone get in, that will show how bias and adaptable the licence criteria are, making a complete mockery of our sport.
Lets give the media more ammunition to fire at the sport eh?
I'm afraid I'm very close to being through with the sport completely, not because halifax wont get into super league but because the sport is fast ceasing to become a competition and more an invite only exhibition. Embarassing
Also no-one mentioned this, but how can crusaders keep their licence when the club that has it now is entirely different to the one awarded the licence in the first place? Does this prove that expansion prevails over any clubs attempts to do the right thing? Unlucky Widnes!
Laughable

Yet more stadium waffle. It's embarrassing. They should be kicked out for even going to press with this one, especially on the back of today's RFL bombshell.
It's desperate and it's full of holes. Pack it in Chairmen ...............please !!!!

Quote ="SRC"Apparently, after the furore over the article in the League Express a few months ago regarding Toulouse's chances of a Super League license, the RFL, very quietly, amended the Operational Rules. The amendment applied to section A1:6 .............
[iLICENSING AND CRITERIA FOR A SUPER LEAGUE LICENCE
A1:6 a) There shall be no promotion or relegation between Super League and Championship
from the 2008 Season onwards. Instead for the 2009 Season and for every 3 seasons
after that, the Board shall invite applications for membership of Super League from: (i)
current Super League Clubs; (ii) Clubs in the Championships that meet minimum
standards set by the Board; and (iii) any overseas clubs invited to apply by the Board.
Those Clubs being offered and accepting a Super League Licence for 3 years shall
participate in Super League – for the avoidance of doubt, all Clubs offered a Licence
shall be obliged to re-apply for a further 3 year Licence at the end of each 3 year
Licence period. Those either not being offered a place or not accepting a place offered
shall: (i) in the case of Super League Clubs, participate in the Championship; (ii) in the
case of Clubs in the Championships compete in the League they are currently in, unless
they are relegated or promoted in accordance with the rules below, which shall take
precedence; or (iii) in the case of overseas clubs invited to apply by the Board and who
are not currently in the Super League or the Championships, the Board shall have the
discretion to offer a place in one of the Championships or reject the application outright.
b The Board shall have discretion to set criteria for membership of Super League and
discretion to assess Clubs against set criteria and determine membership of Super
League from 2009.
c) At least one Club that has competed in the Championships during the Licence Period
2009 – 2011 and that meets minimum standards set by the Board will be granted a
Super League Licence for 2012 – 2014.
d) For the purposes of A1:6 (a) above the applicant must submit a completed and signed
application form and provide such documents, including financial records, as the Board
shall at its discretion require.[/i
So there you have it. Toulouse can be invited by the RFL to apply for a Super League license and don't have to meet the criteria that all other clubs have to. If any other overseas club 'invited' to apply fails, then they will be offered a place in one of the Championships.

If I hadn't read all this myself, I wouldn't have believed it.'"
What a bunch of Dictators, its fascism and communism combined at the RFL.
Whats that saying on that naff programme Big Brother 'You decide?' - well the RFL hierarchy do decide, just what they want.
What other sport would ever settle for rules like this?
So basically they can change the rules as and when they please to suit who THEY WANT in RL in England???
What a joke, they can pick who they want in SL and who they want in the Championship and more importantly where they want them.
How about rewarding hard work and dedication with good management?
Er no, not the RFL as long as you are not from the North of England you are welcome. The same North of England where the game of RL was founded or have they forgotten we were once the Northern Union???
Like others on here I only support my club now = Fax and I no longer support the game of RL, its run by a bunch of crooks imo.
If Fax go then so do I, stuff RL.

it is understandable why they are doing it though. They have to blow their own trumpets and big themselves up and why not? Yet nobody has rationally said, hold on Saints are in same boat, Bradford is a hole (literally) and are in freefall on and off the field how about them? So surely those charimen have to push their club and put them into a good light as these other clubs that have just as bad facilities as these clubs are allowed to stroll through the next round of franchises..

Word on the street is its Wakey OUT and Widnes IN.
This is going to look a bit daft if Wakey finish mid table in SL and Widnes finish outside the Play Offs in the Championship isn't it???
Yer okay Widnes fans you appear to tick all the boxes but so do Wakey apart from one = their ground yet even now SL is played there so its technically fit for SL???
Surely they won't put Toulouse in and not Widnes???
nah its Wakey who will lose and Widnes will win.
At least its a ground we have not been to for a long time, with Hunslet coimg up and maybe Oldham it will add a bit of variety in the next 2 years and make up for not getting in SL THIS TIME. Us next time I say when we will be ready providde we have a good management team.

WELL SAID NAT, apart from the CUP games, we go watching friendlies, and NOW the RFL expect a minimum average attendance of 2500 (for friendlies) !!!
Only (ex World Club Champions) Widnes have done this in the past 2 seasons.

| If that's how Nat feels - i pity him. I still LOVE the matches. I loved the Widnes match. Tension, losing 12-0, the fight back, the second half mullering, the biff !!!
We have a wonderfully entertaining team. If you'd rather watch the stars - go to Odsal. Take a brolly.

If Toulouse dont get in this time, they will be a shoe in next time, along with the team that is coming down this time. infact thinking about it we may have more competition to get up next time than we do this time, might still be a long time out in the cold yet

Agreed... But on the same foot i am sick of people bagging Cas and Wakey (And I would like to state now I care nothing for either team) and not these other teams that have a more successful first team yet off the field are riddled with debts, tumbling crowds and play in sheds with hay bails to sit on.
I have so lost interest in who gets a franchise on what basis because to me as an average fan the whole lot is a fiddle. The RFL WILL choose who they want in regardless of if you have ticked a box, circle or claiming asylum they will put in who they want. The whole thing is so sly it just over shadows the sport in general.
I will always support Fax but I feel our days in the big league are gone, we have missed the boat a few years back before relegation in 2003. It feels sad to admit that but I guess that is the way of "pro **cough** sport"

Absolutely not. Money drives this game. Should Halifax ever get a backer again then it would definately be back on the cards - in spite of our close location to Hudds/Brad/Leeds.
Look at what O'Connor has done at Widnes. He's not even started on his piggy bank yet, let alone the millions stashed in his bank. The RFL know it and they're waving him through to the finish line.
Money.
That's all it takes.

Well yes obviously. Although we don't have a great track record with money men now do we! haha.
Seriously though if that happened then yes we would be back with a shout but until then... How long is a piece of string...
And yes O'Connor worked is magic... a team struggling to make the play offs in the second tier of Euro rugby league....
[size=50Yes I am being sarcastic...[/size

| Quote ="urbancarrot"it is understandable why they are doing it though. They have to blow their own trumpets and big themselves up and why not? Everyone is saying either Cas, Wakey, Salford for the chop because of stadium issues etc.. Yet nobody has rationally said, hold on Saints are in same boat, Bradford is a hole (literally) and are in freefall on and off the field how about them? So surely those charimen have to push their club and put them into a good light as these other clubs that have just as bad facilities as these clubs are allowed to stroll through the next round of franchises..'"
To be fair Saints have it under control and work has clearly started on their site as far as i'm aware. You raise a good point about Bradford though. In this round of franchises they haven't actually picked up a 'adding to the competition' point because they're now cr@p. With crowds at a low and only decreasing, and rubbish ground, what exactly do they offer that Halifax don't. People will be like 'they've won a number of SL titles and Challenge cups, don't be daft' but in THIS licensing period, they're nothing, and that's what it's being judged on, the last 2/3 years no?
There's more flaws in this chuffing process than the Empire State Building.
Plus i know there's the adement fan that 'will go no matter what' but come on, as of March, what are we watching? Really? for £14 i'm not watching teams play for nothing. At least this year there's that not knowing who's in, still trying to rack up license points scenario making it slightly interesting.
When it comes to Pro Rugby League im not sure what im supposed to be watching anymore. For 5 years we've had this minimum requirements for SL, quota cap business etc all to make 'something' stronger but I'm still watching Leeds and Saints in the Grand final and us getting smashed by the Aussies. below the top 4 in Super League, baring the occasional team, has anything really changed that much other than there's a lot less to play for and a Welsh team occasionally getting good crowds depending on how much they can be d promoting a certain game? Welsh don't and never will embrace Rugby League. Get over it. Plus have attendances really changed that much? Sure some things have improved but are we really believing it's all because of this licensing process.

Yo ask what Bradford have, i will tell you what Bradford have.
There called Bradford Bulls thats all they need, the same case will go for the likes of Wigan, Leeds, Saints, etc. although all of them will have a stadium fit for it by the start of the next franchise

Exactly. A name that worked in the past. But supposedly the process is supposed to work on a system where no ones in SL and you'll get judged each 3 yeas accordingly. But it isn't.
Leeds sligthly annoy me actually aswell. I mean they are the 2nd best 'club' in SL after Wigan in their marketing, attendances, teams etc in my opinion, but i wish they'd sort the away stand and the cornered off bits of the South Stand out. Headingley is not a stadium fit for 3 times champions imo. If you can't even get their ground right, it doesn't look good.

The process works to whatever trumped up laws the RFL want it to.
ah yes Leeds. they could have been a bit more smart, that Carnegie stand doesnt really fit with the rest of it, they could have spent the money more wisely and built a smaller stand that would fit in with the rest of it, then could have doen something to get some sort of cover for the away fans, thats not there designated stand though for away fans i dont think anyway, they could go in the carnegie stand or the north stand or even the south stand although i wouldnt reccomend it if they wanted to leave again.
they should so something though,
the blocked off bits of the south stand are a health and safety matter i think, they did used to use all of it upto a couple of seasons ago then they were told it wasnt safe for some reason

| Aye, suddenly before a Wigan CC game i think it got shut and has never opened since. Bit wierd really. I'm nit-picking at Leeds here really which isn't fair, just being an @rse really.
At end of the day, all people have talked about for 2 and a half years every day is who's license is supposedly better, who has better stadiums, everything that doesn't involve what goes on on the pitch. Rugby League just isn't a sport anymore, i've never known anything like it in world sport and probably never will again. It's a joke and it's beginning to waste a lot of people's time by being part of it at a supposed 'professional' level.
