To think clearly on this you need to take the result out of it! Sheffield only let Barlow leave for Fax on one condition... That was broke and Sheffield are entitled to take action (also based on rest of season since he left) Aston is a muppet we all no that but that's also due to having his CEO hat on aswell remember!

I just have an interest in this case. I think it will die a death eventually - cost and prep will be massive and I don't think he'll take that on unless absolutely certain - or daft - or both! Just a hunch like!

No win, no fee lawyers stay in business by only accepting cases they can win. No lawyer would be seen near this case unless they are paid upfront to do so.

I suppose Sheffield are within their rights but it is sad they are taking things so far.
Like I have put before it seems RL is a world of kicking your rival club whenever you can and very publicly.
Thats the bit that annoys me, RL needs good news stories not bad press.

In terms of playing him Fax dud the right thing by going directly to the RFL but on a legal matter it's very quiet... Maybe waiting until Sundays outcome before throwing Aston a bone?

I do say, you seem to be taking this matter rather lightly.

Imagine if the situation was reversed, you'd take it as far as possible as well.

I'm no legal expert, the RFL stayed out of it as the contract was agreed between the clubs and player.

If Halifax win, no harm done.

If Sheffield win, the RFL will be forced to step in as it will be proved Fax played an ineligible player (again).

Worst case scenario is a points deduction for 2011, most likely Fax will get a fine and the player a ban.

No they haven't. The RFL won't reverse their own decsion.

I doubt the RFL would get involved but Barlow / Halifax would have to pay up a 'compensation' amount to Sheffield.

Just checked, I will happily give Sam the £3 for these... im sure that will be sufficient compensation for the one that Aston lost when doing his interview......

Well yes I agree. It''s where Mark Aston is coming from too. He feels that Sam and Fax have kicked his club by his inclusion in the team last thursday - the most public of ways!!!

Correct, they won't! They have Barlow registered as a Fax player - that's all they need!
The transfer documents were/are in order. Any 'clauses' external to that contract are whats being argued over!


I think this will be the last case of it's kind in RL. Any mid season transfer between clubs will have their conditions immediately legally challengeable and set in stone from now on!

Aston may not have thought he needed such a defined contract. Unwise perhaps?

What Contract? Has anyone actually seen this contract? We are all taking it rather lightly as we are not small minded and petty. We have much much more important things to think about.

I don't think san should have played, but I guess the club was happy he could play.

We haven't seen his contract, but Sam already played against Sheffield, at Aston okay (in the nines), so that is all about Aston dictating when and where he can play?

As I have said, on another thread, I will not go to sheffield again if Aston and co, peruse this through the courts, there would be no way I would spend my money there.
