Not sure who has told you that but that is not true.

The bidder who has enquired about the lease has done so on the understanding that FC Halifax Town are the only long term tenants at the Shay.

The offer submitted is in the hands of the respective legal departments over various issues but it is hoped that an agreement can be found (from both sides) within the next month or so.

The council will then be duty bound to give Halifax RLFC 28 days notice that they intend to cancel their contract due to being in arrears. The council are so keen to do the deal now that they are looking into options to keep the deal alive should the Rugby Club make full payments - which looks like at the moment requesting the Rugby Club pay a deposit on future rent, which will also be matched by the bidder in lue of the Football Club, with that money going towards pitch works.


The Council seem keen to make sure if Halifax RLFC do pay their owed rent they are told if they were to fall more than 3 months in arrears again then they will be out, no second chances, as the bidder will have the right to complete the current offer.

The current bidder has funds ready to transfer to complete the deal. Its a case of waiting on legal and seeing what response from the notice the council get from their next rent reminder and the 28 day notice

No need to guess what would happen if it was the Fax board putting together a proposal like this.

1. A consortium putting together a secret bid (apart from leakes) that excludes one of the towns sporting clubs, could end up in running the stadium into disrepair and eventually see the demise of both sporting clubs.

2. A businessman putting together a secret bid that benefits both sporting clubs and the whole of Calderdale

Bubba is in denial that a bid even exists, they haven't even got the guts to face the facts when the facts are completely opposite in every respect to their previous well published claims.

I think it's safe to say something is afoot. I wasn't convinced by the way Tony Abbott went about buying The Shay - and let's be honest, he nearly achieved his goal. Who's to say the council won't see this latest twist through to the end. Fax have pushed them to the limit with not paying rent.

I know nothing about the deal but if what is said above is true we must find somewhere else to play or it could be curtains for us!

If we either found somewhere else to play OR we ended up folding I think it would also be the end of a stadium in Halifax as it could neither be propped up by the council with one tenant, or be purchased to run with one owner.

I do wonder if other shared grounds are subject to the same absolute hatred from joint tenants.

There are two issues here.

One is the two faced double standards of a small group of individuals.

The other is the rent issue which the last statement I heard from the Council was that Fax were up to date and the reasons they delayed in the first place was over a perceived discrepancy over the amount being payed by the two siting tenants.

Apart from that historical context how could this new deal be so arranged as to single out one sitting tenant with one set of rules over the other.

Namely that if Fax failed just once to pay up for whatever reason they would be ejected from the ground permanently.

Furthermore with this in place the Council would be free to set the rent amount to whatever they felt like whilst holding a gun to the head of Fax under the banner of "Pay or Die."

No appeal, no discussion, the last time I looked the Council was democratically elected and not some dictatorship. Again if true.

I've just had my first visit onto their message board and I have to say that there are some bitter twisted folk on there. I accept that this, like our boards, only represent a very small minority of fans, but they are full of bile and hatred.

And lets not forget there are a good number of Town fans on our board who would not support such endeavours, but we live in a democracy, they are entitled to the odd dream, even if its anothers nightmare.

Personally I never go on their board, it would be like reading the Daily Star, no substance and a lot of t"ts.

None of them seem to understand the long term financial consequence of just having one (them) tenant. If the "pitch buying" consortium simply replace two income streams with theirs the money for the pitch will still have to be stumped up. The council may use these idiots as a foil for getting assured future rent from HXRL but even they are not so stupid as to think that a one tin pot club tenancy is going to be financially viable for the Shay complex.

Pitch is a mess and the worst part is the footy goalmouth which we don't even play on, so in answer to the tirade about us spoiling the pitch, jog on.

Its a good job Im thick skinned, or a thick *#!$ as they like to put it.

Reading through the pitch thread on the Town forum i sensed a mood of disbelief that the bid could work and that it would be morally wrong anyway.
