Correct , but

Rugby league transfer agreements are not actual sale of goods. They are an agreement to transfer the RFL registration of a player from one team to another. By allowing him to play, the RFL have said that the transfer of this registration was not conditional on him being unable to play against Sheffield this year.

When the news broke about Stanley Gene winning his tribunal there was a comment from our chairman, in this comment it contained the words "...Standard RFL players Contract..." (I think). If the RFL made the contract and are responsible for maintaining its validity then they are the ultimate authority.

Having watched Aston's interview at the end of the game, and I know he's a whinger, I think the point he was trying make was that feels that he's an honest guy and an agreement was made between Halifax/Barlow and Sheffield that he wouldn't play against them, but obviously Halifax/Barlow had gone back on their word. I really don't think his issue is that they'd have won if Barlow hadn't played but felt he'd been stabbed in the back. So I suppose he has certain amount of creedance in his moan.........IMO.

Sheffield paid for poor discipline giving fax good position to score off at a crucial point in the game, and exposing Millsy's ineptitude under the high ball.

Sam Barlow was nothing but a side issue last night. His contribution to the game would not have significantly changed the result.

Sheffield contributed as much to their own undoing last night!

Whether or not Mark Aston, or Sheffield Eagles have a genuine gripe, is known to Aston, maybe Barlow and his concience, and perhaps Halifax RLFC. If Barlow is proven to have broken a contract/agreement, I hope he is exposed and the book thrown at him.
If Aston if spluttering vague inferences about another players dishonesty without due cause, he too should be collared for libel!!!

Or perhaps, with the result now out of the way, we can settle down and look forrad to the final eh????

He intimated similar sentiments over Worrincey signing for Halifax. Just like we did over Mickey Higham & Brad Davis blah blah blah, so what.

the "so what" is the consequences if he follows it up and is found in favour - the "so what" could be unpleasant for the player and possibly fax.

However, as I suspect, the matter will die a death, Sheff will prep for next season, fax will prep for next week!!!

Maybe so, and maybe it highlights how the game and people's honesty/ integraty has changed since the days when Aston was a player and beyond? I'm sure he felt that when someone gives you their word you stick to it........clearly not anymore.

Barlow did not make the differance last night, yes he had a soild game and managed to keep his temper after being given some rough stuff, i actaully think sheffied played worse becasue they were concentrating in Sam rather than playing the game!

and if Barlow is all Aston has to bleet on about shows what a sore loser he is!

I have always liked Mark Aston, but he was asked about the game and all he did was dribble on about Honesty and Integrity, blah, blah, blah and then about Brendan Lindsey. Not one single mention about Halifax at all. Mark take defeat graciously, your team was well and truly beaten, Barlow aside.

At the end of the game, Aston, in his grey suit, looked & sounded like a 2nd hand car dealer...

The only regret I have about Barlow playing is that it gives Aston an excuse for not giving credit where it is due.
We played them off the park last night and managed an above 80% completion rate which is practically unheard of for us so it shows we can do it, and we'll need to next Sunday.

We only have Aston's word to his own honesty and integrity.

I'm pretty sure that I heard Bill Arthur say somewhere near the beginning of the game that both clubs had come to an 'arrangement' over Barlow.

Looks like he was wrong.
