I not a div .It just seems you are all concerned about widnes..To be honest it be much better than your team finances.If you think our turnover and losses is crap then i love to see halifax outgoings on players etc.Widnes are in a great postion end of matter.You see most football clubs such as liverpool owners owe money to the banks.No rugby clubs except the wigans and leeds of this world are making great profits.

When Seve bought the club we had to generate a playing staff, academy team and backroom staff from stratch. 250k was invested into the academy in year one which would set up a sustainable youth set up for the following years. This 250k costs will not have to be invested in future years making the balance sheet alot more healthier. Debts had to be cleared, new seats were bought, improvements in the stadium rised significantly. These are all significant costs which will not be taken into account in following years resulting in us breaking even or even making a profit. I would much rather be in our position then any other club in this league when our off the field problems are concerned. Think he goes to most games and he is always at the past players annual meal. I still think he does a bit for the club behind the scenes but the days of mass financial help are over which is sad for the majority cos a few Knobs decided to abuse him and his family.

I feel sorry for Halifax fans, they understand the finances, its clear in this thread that they do, just the minority like yourself keep talking bubbles.
SOC never made all the investments in the stadium this year expecting to make an immediate profit or return, he might have just made them to improve the clubs structure as a whole.

One things for sure, if we hit the £1m turnover mark this year, we will be operating at £400k next year whilst the majority of clubs will be struggling for £300k.

Someone see sense.We have a bigger turnover than halifax and ste o connor has done alot and supports widnes rlfc.Halifax do not run a reserves or academy so easier to save.RFL want a academy set up and widnes and ste oconnor are trying to do what the rfl want.We are in best postion.But i admit want a strong fax and leigh teams.As fed up of bad atmospheres with games such as batley and gateshead.

Got to say that I think Steve O'Connor is a great bloke. I've got to know him over past couple of years and one of the nicest blokes involved in rugby league that i've ever met. He loves Widnes and has put a lot of money into the club. He bought me a few beers at the last Halifax match over at Widnes and also invited me to sit with him and his wife for a meal before the game. Thought it was a really nice gesture of him and as one of Halifax's biggest freeloaders I had no problem in accepting his offer.

I had one vist me once , he worked for one of my suppliers , it was just after Xmas and we were late paying our account , we explained that we were in a seasonal business and january was always a slow time for orders and it was difficult getting money in , and that the stock we owed for was still unused on the shelves

Our debt at the beginning of jan was about 12 K , by the time he came to see us it was the 3 rd week in jan and we had got the debt down to 7 K

We pointed this out to him , but he still insisted on reducing our credit limit

I asked him if he had any experience running a business , yes he replied he used to run a debt collection business

Very relevant to what he was now doing I replied and suggested that the stocktake must have been interesting " Baseball bats , 3 of , Knuckledusters 5 of "

In the end we paid off the outstanding debt 3 weeks later

His little visit and the reduction of our credit limit cost his company several million pounds worth of lost business in the following years
