Thought it was a good game, in those conditions it was always going to be a forwards game in the middle. I was surprised in view of previous encounters with the lack of any real incidents, a couple of flare ups either way, but nothing like previous matches. I thought leigh took their chances well. Was surprised with how tight it remained, credit to factor that, the gifted try really lifted you and kept the belief there. On that show I think you should and hope you will make the top 4 at the end of the season. From my own teams perspective, a win is a win. Defensively we looked strong. Credit to all players and fans for attending in those conditions. Look forward to the return fixture.

More than matched Leigh in forwards. Tangata not afraid to throw his weight around of the bench. Ambler and Cahalane provide good go forward with Moore and Tangata coming of bench. A real forward tussle. Manelly looked impressive coming off bench and provided zip round play the ball.

Only area of concern which RM will be aware of is halfback and the lack of a good kicking game. RM already stated that Place needs to improve in this area. Have to agree Place didnt really offer much and pressure was on Murrell for majority of game.

Backs were indifferent and leigh also shaded this area . Saltonstall did well but Brown was targeted with Leigh kicking game and his lack of pace showed at times. Centres stood up well . Tyrer a standout for me and Taylor also doing well against a good centre.

As for Leigh Moi Moi is a good forward for mine and attracts defenders. Ridyard was excellent and difference between teams.

I wouldn't say Brown lacked pace.Think he is a Worrincy clone who has pace/power and brainfart in equal proportions.

Im sure the mods will whip him in to shape soon......................

There were a lot of town fans posting their opinions who got banned(some rightly so and some not so) yet we constantly have to put up with Charlie's thread drifts and tripe on nearly every thread(FWIW when he talks rugby he makes some valid points). This forum seems to have gone downhill over the last year or so and having mods that are not active often on the forum does not help.

To be fair to Place I think Johnston would have struggled with those conditions as well. I couldnt even tell that Brierley was playing really and saying that he is the best half back in the competition it simply was not a game for them.

Very true' we were saying the same in that freezing cold North Stand.

I thought he looked unfit and ponderous with poor defence to be honest, winger went round him 3 times in first half, unlike Rob he did look ok under the high ball but did nowhere near the amount of carries though this may well be done yo the new coach's tactics.

He looked fit enough when he went 90m at Whitehaven.But his hack on at a loose ball there ended up in the carpark..

Yes his try at Whitehaven was a beauty and he certainly looks to have speed, however I think he could have been a bit sharper to get to the tackle and prevent Leighs second try. I think Norman used the word ponderous and I think that summed up a few of his decisions yesterday, at the time we all said he was a little lackadaisical in his approach. (I think that's what Norman meant but its a lot harder to spell)


We also said at the time Miles and Matt were slow for Leighs first try, the kick through was a good couple of yards in front of them and they were both outpaced as the video shows. Perhaps that's a bit harsh they had to turn in that mud and that would have slowed them down.
Anyway as I said yesterday very encouraged and as always full of optimism. Sorry I missed you Charlie, always enjoy our chats and your knowledge of the game.

Ive never said I think you should be banned Charlie. You get me wrong, like I said I think you make valid points at times but a lot of the other stuff you post spoils the forum somewhat. I think it would be a case of the mods simply doing their job and moderating the forum by removing some of your unnecessary posts.

I would welcome any sort of moderation by anyone who is a regular on the forum because most people would spot where the problem lies pretty easily.

So you are in favour of Censorship?I always try to give my honest opinion on Rugby matters again maybe sometimes they seem biased,but I try to bring a bit of lighthearted comments on other threads ,I call it lighthearted you describe your similar comments as Tongue in cheek, pray tell me the difference?

I did enjoy the Dining Experience and must admit I found it better than at the LSV ,the food was good ,the Entertainment was interesting I was sat on the same table as Lee Crooks and had a chat with Paul Dixon ,and the Fax Legend Johnny Freeman , what a true Gentleman he is,all in all a very good afternoon, I can recommend the Sponsors Lounge to anyone.It would be nice to meet you for the return game at the LSV.
