Apart from everything else I wonder how much that has cost in just paying off the contracts alone?
And don’t forget, you can’t quote me otherwise you’ll be upsetting TF.

| When you look at how quick Featherstone are to sack there coachs over the recent years it makes us look like saints in comparison. I know that there budget is a lot bigger than ours and with that comes high expectations but surely they could have given Long a bit more time and that is coming from me who as little patience on these matters. Also and i know it was only one game for me they already looked like a James ford coached side on sunday and i do not think he will improve them.

| During his time at York when they had a bit of success there were quite a few that thought he was the best up and coming coach in the game and then he dropped out of the limelight somewhat in moving on in an assistant role.
Be interesting to see how Ford goes at Fev back as the head coach.

Batley have already announced Mark Moxon as the new head coach for next year. Led to believe Ben Kaye will be his assistant. Would leave Lingard without a job especially if the new coach at Cas brings in their own assistant, like Powell and Sheridan. Think Lingard would be better suited to the role than Liam Finn at present, as Liam is still only early days into his coaching career. League One and Championship have a big gap in quality too.

11 in 11 sounds a lot. Powell was there a good while.
Off the top of my head:
Long
McDermott
Carr
Powell

I suspect you will be disappointed. Very much expect Finn to be the next coach. Let's not start a Finn out already

| Didn't manage the Bierkeller last night. Firstly, was it a good do, and secondly were there any loose tongues as to who will be our next coach?

It was alright, nice to see people and a good feeling about the place.
But, what a terrible experience the Bierkeller is, most of the draught beer had run out, im told the "Haus Bier" or whatever they call it was off from 1600, various other stuff was run out of, there was a hand rail fallen off the stairs you had to step over to get to the bogs. and the upstairs room was like an oven, thankfully the outside area was ok with it been dry, but I won't be rushing back there.

I get why they club did it there, think it reflected poorly on Bierkeller though, but that said if the club wasn't hosting the event there it's likely the place would be empty. So lack of stock wouldn't be an issue.
I'd suspect today's announcement would be a renewed contract. But i'm guessing, I'm not sure when the right time to announce the new coach would be

| I'm guessing Fax waited for the Wembley final to pass by before announcing the new coach. If it's a done deal there shouldn't be a delay re the announcement, especially if it's the widely rumoured Liam Finn. But you never know, there's a whole raft of available applicants at the moment.
If not, it'll be great to see O'Brien signed up for the next couple of years. I don't think there are any other of our key players who need re-signing (?).

| Going to go out on a limb and at a total guess say it will not be about a re-signing and leaning towards more of a fan opportunity to see the cup or something along those lines. I can't see the new coach been announced until his season is over at his current club.
Edit: Totally wrong again.

| Quote ="faxcar"Really, on whether he should be sacked and an example of your bad memory and imagination again.
Before he decided to go after one particular loss it was.
"yesterday I would imagine should be the final straw but I can't see Grix walking so now its up to the board."
What were you wanting the board to do? Sounded like sacking him to me.
After he decided to go it was.
"Think its for the best for everyone how it has happened. Saves the board having to get rid of him."
Yes, clear as day, sacking repeated again and using the term "getting rid of him" sounds like he's just a piece of rubbish to be disposed of and reveals precisely what your thoughts and feelings towards SG have been over the past 3 years and is exactly what I have been "running against" not with.
The facts.
You were wrong about Grix not leaving of his own accord, because he is doing.
You were wrong about saving the board from sacking him because they wanted him to stay and offered him a long term contract extension.
You were wrong when you knew many didn't want him to leave in stating it was the best for everyone when in reality it was what was best for you.'"
Just posting this here to keep it on topic.
So you trawled my posts and that is the best you could come up with? Again I can't ever remember saying I wanted him sacked, there is a huge difference between what I have said there and calling for someones head but you already know that. I think a lot of people will have had a thought that the Batley defeat may have brought about his sacking. I also thought it was for the best and still do for the very reason that the board would have probably ended up having to get rid but that don't mean that I wanted him sacking does it?
Imagine if all this time you had been trying to get sly digs in and it turned out that I had not even wanted rid......
I'm looking forward to the next installment of moaning GFB said this...........no honestly I'm as interested as you because my memory is awful, I could easily have said I wanted Grix sacking and John Kear in and its always nice when someone goes back through your old posts just to see how things worked out.

Theres a few interesting bits in there, mainly the part about York looking to go full time. I think this is the first time I have seen this mentioned other than maybe a couple of years back and their signings so far don't seem to suggest this but Grix will know what is going on with that speaking with agents.
Another thing that stood out was that Grix himself sounds like he had known that things had become a little stale and this is something that always happens and will be more so given he is pretty much doing the coaching by himself which brings up another point that hopefully Liam is able to bring both or at least one of his assistants with him from Dewsbury as I do think that may have been one of the problems this season, I know Simon has had support but its not the same as having another rugby brain to butt heads with and I think that is a must.
Hopefully he does well in his new role and you never know maybe he will get a shot in SL at some point or maybe he will turn out to be like Richard Marshall and just be a fantastic assistant coach and there is nothing wrong with that as they are worth their weight in gold.

Just posting to keep on the topic and the antics of a back stabber.
As per usual goes into denial and selective amnesia mode when proved wrong again.
As to being sly, I’m posting quotes, your words not mine and the next thing you’ll try to have us believing is you wanted Grix to stay all along.
I’m not looking forward to your next instalments of slagging off.
Who will your next targets be, the BoD, the coach, a player because rest assured there will be something or someone.
Often down to never having achieved anything of any note themselves and known as negative inference or just plain

I agree and know the point you are trying to make so you would also agree that the league table is the result of the collective effort as the season progresses?
I already have a good idea of your response to that so to avoid going in circles, ultimatley in sport its a lot cheaper to get rid of the person in charge of a group of players than it is to get rid of the group of players and that is why there will always be more calls for the coaches head than the players. That is not going to change no matter how much anybody thinks it should.
The fact that we have caused more problems to Fev and Toulouse this season than any other team in the league just leads to more questions than answers about Simon's last season in charge. Now if we were to finish 6th and at the very least make the final, which I think we are capable of doing as I have said all season, then some people that were constantly clamoring to have him sacked may have some back tracking to do.

Interestingly and slightly off topic this forum’s opinion on Grix followed a similar pattern to when Matt calland was in charge in 2010 ,( yes I’ve gone back and read the forum )not gonna say we’ ll beat fev in the final but it’s certainly not beyond the realms of possibility ( ironically we play a similar brand of rugby) but when you read thing’s objectively I think we see things differently, I think as time passes grixs’ tenure we ll be seen as a successful one .

On this question and the one on collective responsibility.
On the pitch what the difference is as obvious as night and day.
The players must have the ability and fitness because otherwise we wouldn't get the results.
Fitness levels are often the reason we get the results, rarely if ever the reason we don't.
When we get the results the effort / focus and intent the players put in to do it is present.
When we don't get the results the effort / focus and intent the players put in is missing.
When things don't go right people always look for a scapegoat who in this context is often the coach and pretty soon the calls to sack him start.
We know the club didn't do that with Grix and offered him a longer contract so as far as they were concerned his ability was never in question.
Whether it's a less expensive option for a coach to leave who has the ability and proven track record at this level and for the players who sometimes can and sometimes can't be ars*ed to put the effort in to stay for the incoming coach to inherit remains to be seen.
