Spot on. The buck stops with the Director of football and Head Coach. Both of whom should be sacked. Incompetence of this level is clearly gross misconduct and both can be sent packing at no cost.

Unfortunately 2 wrongs don't make a right. The RFL is and has been a joke for a long time. What we probably suspected has now been confirmed in that we are also being run as a joke. I am struggling for words regarding Cannon & Ball. They pick the players team and deal with the transfers. Surely one simple question to Rochdale before taking on Mr Ostrich would have told us the situation. Or, like his name did we decide to bury our heads in the sand and hope it would go away! (Names have been changed to protect individual identities).

i heard thisb rumour on here yesterday and i dismissed it as just a rumour cause i could not beleive we could not notice this.

this was a really big opportunity for us, chance to get to the quarters, maybe even the semi's if the draw came up for us.

we were trying to put a super league licence together, might as well throw that away.

how this could happen is really annoying, someone has to go for this.

when are we going to get another chance to get to the semi's of the cup.

If the outcome is those two leaving then im glad this has happened because WE CAN DO BETTER, were HALIFAX RLFC, founder member of RL, short term its awful, but at least we can build from finally hitting rock bottom, with some proper men looking after the Rugby League side of things.

Some of the head in the sand brigade may finally realise what a lot of us have know for a few years now, that the club is run like a complete shambles from top to bottom. No one who joins the club in an off field capacity who is any good stays with the club. They are either forced out or see the light, unfortunatly it is then left to a bunch of buffoons who couldnt organise a pee up in a brewery.

The RFL will have no alternative other than to disqualify Halifax from the competition. They know that a championship club could not stand a huge fine, so disqaulification looks as though the RFL are being hard, whilst also not imposing a huge fine the club could not afford and send them down the tubes.
The second issue is do they simply let Batley through to the next round or give Swinton a game against Batley ?
Personally I think Batley will be sent through and a nice little cheque sent to Swinton from the Halifax fine....

We (the club!) are a complete laughing stock & deserve everything that happens.

I too am quickly losing any faith in them.... sure watching them on a Sunday is great & I will support them, however the club have to take responsibility & start getting things right OFF THE FIELD!!!!

Its now time for the blub to come out with a clear apology to not only the rfl & batley, but more importantly to us fans who pay at the gates week in week out.

The board of directors are only custodians of the club, they will come & go but we will remain.

This is an absolute disgrace and shows that our club is run by incompetent buffoons.

This will have cost us an absolute fortune, which we can ill afford. We will have already arranged and paid for the "family fun day" events, the hospitality events etc. We will now not get any of the gate receipts and we are more than likely to be expelled from the competition and hit with a fine we can not afford.

No doubt there are many fans who still are unaware of this, who may be in pubs etc in Halifax, both Batley and Halifax fans.

It also makes you wonder if Posner and Clay knew this was coming, hence the "jumping ship"

what is discusting on the RFL's part is that it has only just come to light 2 hours before kick off !!

The players didnt know about this till an hour ago either. You get the feeling that the RFL didnt have a clue about this and it only came to light because of THAT thread.

It's not up to the referee to decide who is/isn't elligible to play in a match. He only has to check that they are filled out correctly and is responsible for getting them to the RFL on time after the game.

With this and the Hunslet cup knock out I suspect Fax are at breaking point finance wise. Or at the very least it's knocked us for six income wise, it's not just the income from this game lost but IF we had won a glamour tie to a big team, this and the Arriva cup and cancelled pre season games will have knocked a large chunk from the income.

Getting more angry the more I think about this... what a complete farce!

Not only have the club lost out on a potential money spinning quater final, they could well have hindered any potential sponsorships deals to replace HBOS next year. Would you want to be associated with a shambles like this?

With the embarrasment that was caused last time, it wouldn't be beyond the wit of man to get each team to submit a 21 man sqad which the RFL can check the eligibility of a player to play in that match. I would have thought this would be common practice.

To have a system where a referee gets a team list half an hour before the game and after the game forwards this to the RFL is abysmal. There is no check in place. Basically, we could have fielded anyone and the consequences are sorted out if anyone notices?

Halifax's only defence against expulsion from the competition is to prove 'no fault or negligence' but my God, the governing body must take some responsibility for this.

Moot point maybe but is it up to the club to ask the player, on signing him, whether he is cup-tied or is the onus on the player to declare it?

The RFL are a set of incompetant muppets who should be all sacked! Why did nobody notice before now? Why is the game cancelled 3 hours before kick off? Fax have made a massive mistake and heads should roll. But the RFL Should have known sooner and sorted this out days after the last round. Now the day for thousands of players, fans, sponsors etc has been ruined! Thank you RFL for once again showing how useless you are at running the game!! The sooner the animals from the Zoo take over the RFL and the game in general the better. Why bother following the game?

We have had one mid season signing Mr Ostick. How difficult is it to check if he is "cup tied" fffs. Surely it is a question you ask, or am I being wise after the event. Either way it is a major inditement of how our club is run.
