I disagree,think Jim is an ideal experienced prop to lead our expected younger pack.

I am torn on this signing.

I really liked Jim the last time he was here, but on the occasions we have seen him this year, he has given away quite a few penalties, with his style.

However he is extremely experienced and a very hard worker, who could be a good person to have around the squad and a good ambassador for the younger players.

I hope its the latter. But MH and MC know what they are doing, so we will get behind him, because he is OUR player.

Will do a job for us. If were are having a young pack then having an experienced head maybe just what we need, players like Cherryholme, Maloney will definately benefit playing along side him.

I think what most fans need to hear is that some of our current squad are signing up. We are constantly hearing rumours of players going here or there, so the worry is many of our grand final winning team wont be with us in 2011.

too true; its alright bringing back the anyone who has pulled a fax shirt on in the past, but its the current squad that brought us glory and I for one would like some confirmation about players and hope a large chunk of them are with us next year. All squads need new faces, but too many can be a problem.

Id like to see a "Bulk" announcement of Re-Signings, rather than a drip feed, yes its good to have good news coming every few days, but it'd relieve that worry that some may leave if 5 or 6 were announced all at once

Jim def has the experience, will help players like Cherryholme, i think this will be a solid signing and Jim will have a good season for Fax topped off with a 2011 champions medal.

PS, can we start a book now on how many times he will be referd to as "Big" Jim Gannon in the press!

I heard he was coming back to us after the Widnes game in which Barlow got banned. To be honest i aint too impressed with the Penalty machine, However, It might have been becuase he was in a poor squad.
In Hall i trust, so i will say welcome back Gannon.

As some have stated, please at least tell us who from last year we are retaining so we can get a idea of the squad for next year.

I for one am glad about this signing he still lives local and I think he will bring some passion into the forwards. Yes he gave penalties away at Widnes but to be fair he was used to playing Super League and it must be frustrating to move down to a team as poor as Widnes have been these last couple of years. He is a forward who likes to offload at Widnes he`d turn round and noone was there.
Also you do not know how his coach has instructed him to play because one thing about Jim he does know how to play the game maybe some coaches encourage the high shots etc

Jim has one key strength that we have missed for some time, the ability to offload the ball in the tackle, Frank has been the only one who comes close to having that skill. Maloney and Barlow will learn from him.

His go forward isnt the best as his frame isnt the best for a prop, however the guy is as hard as nails and really does work his ass of. His discipline is questionable and he does give away a few but i doubt your pack will be getting bullied next year with Jimbo in.

Black, Barlow, Worrincey and Nash will all be playing for Fax next year.

That was the Courier that got it wrong. He only ever signed a one year deal.

I wasnt even a rugby fan when Gannon played for us last time so i will reserve judgement till the season starts.

saw him a couple of times on sky games, still didnt know what to make of him.

he's experianced at a high level which will be good.

Gannon is a player I would rather play with than against, nuff said.
