One thing that did surprise me was how much on top of our pack Fev looked. On paper I would take our pack over any in the league but they just looked a bit disjointed and out of sorts. I wonder if KH is regretting maybe not giving Keith Mason some game time while having a look at him. It does appear we need some more bustle up front.

I don't get this we have the best ts pack thing, people said that last year and all I saw was everytime we played a decent team their pack got ontop of us, with a few exceptions like Ambler and Divorty.

Our pack is more mobile then big in my opinion, except Tonks, but once Tonks is gone we lack size to get our noses through and Tonks due to his size is a spell player. Manning is a good player but not exactly big, same for some others too. A couple of big guys would make all the difference.

Neither side were good. Fev were slightly better.

Fax started well and scored, Fev then got loads of ball due to our indiscipline and got a few nice bounces of the ball out wide - one resulting in a try.

Second half was a bit of a none event until the fight.

Fev scored late on to make it look convincing.

Get a grip!

I didn't go to the game so can't comment on that. What does amaze me is the negative comments that ''supporters'' put on after one loss in a friendly. Get rid of the coach, we are going to be lucky if we finish 5th, the half backs are no good etc.Even supporters from other clubs in our league are more complimentary about Fax than some Fax ''supporters!''
We haven't even kicked a meaningful ball in anger yet and we are ready doomed!
The whole idea of friendlies is to let the coaching staff have alook at ALL the squad and also let the lads have a run out to get used to the bumps n bruises again before the season starts properly on Feb 16.
Cut the team some slack please and let's see where we are at the end of the season before we take stock.

At the end of the season Fax will be in the mix the better weather hard ground and 17 fit players will make a difference.

I have to say I have not been an admirer of Sam Barlow over the years as he strikes me as a liability in attack and defence and I was not overly bothered that we signed him but in his defence he looked like a different player, leaner, quicker, fitter and he actually looked like a he has grown up a bit, no messing at the PTB and not one stupid offload.

I hope its a case of maturing, coaching and mentality rather than this coming back and biting me on the bum, I was suitably impressed!

Im sure he will be targeted though!

LOL it's a good job the RFL don't rely on mobile phones! That coverage missed the start of the incident. As/after the Fax players were pushing Lockwood back over the line, Flanagan (who is number 9, NOT Ellis) tried to pull Manning off Lockwood, grabbing Manning round the forehead. Manning took exception to this and clearly threw the first punch. This then resulted in the fracas. None of the trio mentioned innocent.

As for the comment about Adamson, his indiscipline provided comedy gold in the game at Featherstone last year. Hauled off the field by desperate coaching staff with Fev players laughing at him.

I wasn't playing the blame game, merely pointing out that the footage which the original poster suggested was Manning apparently just defending himself was only the second half of the incident, and that Ellis wasn't involved (or on the field!).

Seems like it was a real bruisher.

Fax had a few bumps and bruishes following the game but nothing like the bad luck of some of the Fev lads.

This weeks press has Matt Nicholson having scans on his knee which if it is his ACL could cost him a big part of the season.

I saw him twist it second half and it didn't look good allthough he did managed to get up and be helped off.

Liam Walmsley has a broken arm and is out for 4 to 6 weeks.

Colton Roche has a hairline fracture of the eye socket with 2 to 3 weeks on the sidelines.

So much for the friendly.

Rivalries to one side I hope they come through it okay.
