There are enough people behind the scenes before said player even steps onto the pitch to stop this from happening. Mr Hall is in charge of all the admin side for the players . . . . . . . . . . . Oh hang on a minute the club let him naff off to France for a month to do his house up in France,so he wasn't around. Ostick is one of a long line of idiots that have brought the club into disripute and massive shame.

Everything will come out in the wash I'm sure, today is far too early to make any decisions. I wonder who's job it is at the RFL to scrutinise the team-sheets from each game, surely this should have been discovered earlier than three hours prior to kick off if the allegations are correct. The RFL will have had the teamsheets from all the previous rounds of the cup since the refs of the games despatched them.

I've said this on another thread but the point stands here as well.

Karl Harrison said on Radio Leeds this morning that the RFL have had team sheets for this tie for at least 3 weeks and it is someone's job to check these things. He said the game should have gone ahead and we as a club should have been dealt with afterwards.

I never asked in the first place it was told to me voluntarily in conversation - Just found it odd that he had gone away for so long mid season. Still nothing about the club can surprise me now.

I have it on good authority that Hall actually spends most of his time in Portugal now and flies back for weekends. If this was part of a Shameless script you wouldn't believe it!!!

Phoned MC when the team was announced...chanted from the bloody stand or something. So many people here think it was so obvious why didn't they say anything until now?

You and I know it was the job of the Club but isn't everyone here saying that the Club is incompetent? They need a rocket up the a55 from the supporters BEFORE they mess up not afterwards!!!!!

Best start concentrating on Barrow. The team need the fans behind them after this mess not slagging them off. Only one thing to concentrate on now this season and that is winning the league.

I completely agree not the fans job but if you are a fan and you KNOW about it surely you would tell. If I had an idea about it and saw it happening I would! I just had no idea. I also wouldn't have put a question about it on the forum here...I would have contacted the club. "I don't like to mention this but do you know........:"

In my case, I thought that Ostick might be ineligible to play at Swinton, but when I heard that he was playing I assumed that the 'professionals' at the club had cleared him, by whatever means, to play (I had not at that time seen the actual rules and was just going on what I had read about the 'cup-tied' rule). If I had rung the club about my suspicions, I would have expected to have been given short shrift and probably been advised to keep my nose out of matters which did not concern me and out of matters which were the responsibility of 'professionals' employed by the club who had deemed him eligible to play.

I would probably take the same view again if a similar situation arose.

With the resources available to him I'm not surprised this is his current record.

What we will get is a former England coach who has won this league and arriva cup (albeit with professional outfit) and then kept Salford in Super League for 3 seasons and achieved a Play-Off appearance (prob one and only time ever). More importantly we'll get a guy with blue and white running through his veins (as per his interview last week) and someone who respects and appreciates the supporters and the history of our club, something that the current coaching staff don't have.

He also has made more than 1 substitute appearance for England so will command respect from the players and finally give more kudos to the Courier's 'former England international' quote that is attached to any mention of our existing coach.

Don`t forget his Great Britain caps ,he played against the Aussies when they used to beat them.

There's a funny story about Rhino when he was captain at 'Fax & they were faced with going to play at Wigan and had a sratch side due to injuries in the squad and some fringe players had to play. In one of his rousing motivational chats, Rhino announced that he'd played at Wigan & won there previously. After a while of trying to work out when it might have been, Paul Rowley ( I think ) asked him when it was.......
