Some people only comment to breed negativity and panic. If there is some truth behind this crap it will be announced when any contracts are severed. Until then there is nothing to gain from gossiping like a load of high school girls.

Maybe i am burying my head in the sand but i fail to see how putting potentially explosive comments on a forum helps the club - especially at this early stage. The performance yesterday was dreadful but Thursday's was tremendous. I just think that some people can't wait to get their teeth into a bit of scandal instead of letting the dust settle and allowing the coaching team to sort out any potential unrest.

Its typical Halifax fans though, we lose and something must be wrong, players out on the lash, changing room unrest etc. Always been the case.

And generally when rumours are about there generally is something wrong!! - I've followed the club too long to know this!! - We are all entitled to opinions but as always unless an opinion is the same as the "norm" on here it is shot down in flames. I posted a genuine comment from a very senior player who we all admire and he was happy to talk to us in this manner, openly and candidly. Why not post it? I'm not breaking his confidence, he spoke in front of enough of us!!

Also this is not rumour it is fact as i am quoting from the horses mouth as it were. I am prepared to see what happens and won't call for Callands head YET! However questions are being asked in the inner circle of players and this doesn't bode well. I just hope I'm made to eat my words, afterall we all want the best for the club.

Why does this make me feel important and in the know when all I have done is repeat what was said to me infront of a half dozen other fans at the same time??

The player was obviously upset after that performance. He said something to half a dozen people in a bar when asked. Do you really think he wanted it on here? I am not trying to dictate anything. Just stating my opinion. That gossip helps nobody so why bother.

You miss the point entirely - We simply asked " So what happened today" the same as we asked Ben Black who simply answered we were $hit. When we asked this player (who incidently didn't play yesterday) he immediately questioned several things, not based on just yesterdays performance as he spoke at length, in detail including the stuff I have mentioned here and on other threads. He seemed genuinely disgusted about lots of stuff and spoke openly about his thoughts, ambitions and frustrations. As a fan who has paid up front for a season ticket all I ask is effort and that wasn't there yesterday. I haven't once called for Calland to be sacked in my postings in the last 24 hours (I have my own opinion of MC and have had for 18 months) but what does concern me is this player clearly isn't happy about what is happening behind the scenes and was clearly disenchanted yesterday. Does that not concern you cos it does me.

Not really, if there is unrest in the camp it hasn't shown until yesterday. And even that could be explained by much less ominous reasons. You can predict what rumours are going to surface weeks in advance. Blacky has been out of form, plain for anyone to see this is because of injury, yet you can see the "blacky is off home" rumours coming a mile off.

Chris, answer me honestly, if we had beat Hunslet 60-0, and when congratulated the same player went on a tirade about trouble in the camp, would you be repeating it on here so eagerly?

Whatever is happening behind the scenes is out of our control. All I know is that I trust the people in charge and their judgement.

Lets not underestimate how draining physically and just as important mentally Thursdays game was, the turn around was too soon for those who doubled up, and also these that came in are simply not match fit.

Then we have a different context of conversation already don't we?? - Ask the player the same question I asked and he will answer differently too wouldn't he? - It wasn't so much what he said to us, more surrounding the depth of the apparent problem and this player seeming so disenchanted with the club and the trainingg set up etc, etc. We asked him a direct question about MC and it was the silence that spoke volumes for us with his gestures and expressions. He aluded to the fact that training (in his opinion) wasn't enough so we asked him what he meant and he expanded, he didn't have to, we didn't push him either. As supporters if a player is openly speaking we tried to push the boundaries for info (as we all would) and we didn't expect such an honest and frank personal assessment but we got it. I just hope the player does air his views (and I'm sure he will) as things do not sound great behind the scenes. Why is that so hard to believe? - I don't think we have played well at all this season and were very lucky on Thursday, when we realisitically should have put a poor Widnes team to bed long before. Our defence is atrocious, our attacking flair is mis-firing to put it kindly and our players don't appear to be playing for each other. If these are the early signs of problems we need to banish them now or the season could be ruined before it gets going. A defeat to Leigh and Fev could be too much for the board to swallow off the back of this. I do trust them but I would expect them to be watching over MC's shoulder at the moment too.

Where rumours and Halifax RLFC are concerned there is never any smoke without fire.

We also SHOULD NOT be losing at home to a side below us in the league who for 25% of the game played with 12 men irrespective of our game on Thursday. They out-thused us in every dept and looked the better organised side. The big question is do the players care? - We will find out on Sunday, god help us if they don't.

By the same token I've followed the club long enough to know the majority of rumours are absolute Bowlocks.

You entitled to air your opinion and quote what people have told you, that isn't the problem. As I posted, a member of the coaching staff and a senior player made a quick exit after the game for one reason or another. It just smacks a bit that whenever we lose it is obviously down to player unrest and/or alleged player activity. It doesn't explain the grit and togetherness we showed on Thursday does it? These problems only come to the fore when we lose.

Don't forget boozing it in the changing rooms before matches

I personally don't think Thursday was a game to be "proud" of. We were poor just not as poor as Widnes. A good side on form will bury us on any of this seasons performances and I am worried about our next 2 games. I hope I eat my words.

You claim not to be proud of a Halifax team that goes to Widnes and comes away with a win, a win is a win however it is obtained, regardless of the performance or opposition.

I'm a proud Halifax fan but I don't have to be proud of every performance. Widnes was a lucky win which all fans are happy to take when you underperform. Did I walk away thinking we were world beaters . . . . NO just very fortunate that Widnes played worse than we did.

Can understand where Chris is coming from and I also do have a number of concerns-I thought to some degree we was lucky at Widnes and the win papered over some of the cracks-poor defence, Attack mis-firing etc. However is airing them on here the right way? No right or wrong answer for me. People have different thoughts on this. I would have asked Player X if he had shared his concerns with the Coaching Staff-not just MC as well as other players. Surely its only these people than can change things IF (not doubting you or the player) and when problems occur. You are always going to have problems to a certain extent with 20 odd players and no Second team. I can imagine certain fringe players not being happy after a while. But they had a big chance to impress on Sunday-and blew it!

Fair point mate, I am not a RL player and never was but have been watching the game all my life and I do know one thing - it is full of very unprofessional and selfish people who want their own way and start saying stuff when its not going their way = players.
Now I am not saying all Chris and others have heard is not true but funny how last year all was well in the camp and now a few players are unhappy, you got to ask why do they tell speccies should it not be 'what goes on the mile stays on the mile?'
Now I must also add that the clubs themselves are not as professional as they should be its one of the reasons why RL is still a minority sport imo.
I must add there is not the money in the game to do what football does!

I think its fair enough Chris has concerns. Lets just consider it from a different point of view though. This 'certain player' has raised concerns etc so fair enough to post on here if you wish. However looking at it from a different angle, its difficult for a coach to get it right by everyone, not all players will get on as well with the coach as everyone else, think of your own work place and after a bad day people like to have a moan. It wouldn't have been good if the player had been all happy and jokey after a terrible game so maybe that had something to do with it. If not and the player is unhappy it doesn't mean everyone else is so lets try not to worry so much. On the same matter though i do find it a little odd that players say things like this to fans but thats just me!

On the similar rumour mill topic if someone hears rumours and wants to post i have heard someone is leaving, or whatever, you may as well post saying who or not bother posting because it least it may seem a little more factual then. Again just my view.

Anyway Fax onwards and upwards, i'm sure it will take a lot of character to come back from this in a positive manner but come on put these rumours to bed.

Think there is a lot of speculation and crap on here at the moment and think discussing this on here just adding credability to it.

Widnes are not going on about the rumours of Thackeray going to Catalans. They wait till its announced...
