Whilst we celebrate promotion being reinstated, in the cold light of day it's gonna be harder to get promoted than it was under licensing. The RFL have ensured that by giving us a lower salary cap than Super League.

We'll never be able to compete

No wonder the lower Super League teams voted for this - they'll just spend money on a better team than any championship one and not on sorting out their clubs as they no longer need to!

Where does it mention salary cap??? It only mentions funding.

Also, I think it will be a struggle at first as Championship teams adapt BUT I question the need to go full time in entirety. When you're crap, you're crap and having a team full of full time crap players doesn't necessarily guarantee that you will defeat a semi-pro team that is high in confidence.

I think it's do-able. Yes, it's harder for the lower league clubs but a determined outfit can overcome one that's had it's confidence sucked out of it for 23 matches. Time will tell.

Ultimatly nothing has changed, to be in a position to beat a SL club twice ( or two SL clubs ) over a period of 7/8 games will probably require the investement of a sugar daddy, but to get the interest of that benefactor should be easier now

If you were fortunate enough to have made the type of throw away cash involved, what would entice you into ' throwing it away ' ?

A growing club with a growing fan base, it really is that simple, it isnt an accident that the sports clubs with the biggest support bases are generally the ones that attract the biggest sponsorship deals and ' investement '

I've been saying that for months but folk just got wrapped up in the headlines.

Fact is, Championship clubs wouldn't be able to spend a $uperleague cap anyway.

I have to say though, next ( not this ) season is going to at least be interesting, we'll have 2 ' new ' clubs to play with, plus the interest of watching what happens at the bottom of SL

That's another thing folk gloss over, Starby. There'll be two ex-$uperleague clubs in our twelve. In the short term, they're likely to be two of the four Div 2 clubs in the Middle Eight.

Is it the Fourth v Fifth Grand Final we're on about ?

It's not something new - been there since July.

However the money is divided up and allocated isn't this just talking about central funding.
Will the cap be the same for all the clubs in SL1 and SL2 or whatever it is called.
It will need to be.

If the cap is the same could a Championship club who has a wealthy benefactor not spend as much as he liked up to the cap thus closing the gap or even exceeding the amount some of the less well off SL 1 clubs have to spend?

Yes, as it currently stands we ( whoever ) needs to be the best Championship team and then be better than 3 SL teams

Why the wind up, are you trying to keep a split between Fev and Fax fans?

I think that it is a big assumption to believe that the relegated SL clubs say 2 of Bradford, Widnes, Cas, Wakey or London) would be better on relatively even terms than the top teams in the Championship (i.e. Fev, Fax, Sheffield, Leigh, etc. and not forgetting the potential of an improved Toulose team maybe as well).

The relegated two from the current SL will not automatically walk into the middle 8. That is not to say that they will not be favourates and rightly so in 2015.

Another thing.

The distribution of the funds hasn't even been discussed yet and was not voted on the other night.

That will remain a potential sticking point with the SL clubs especially those that walked out on the first meeting.

They still have a lot to say where the money goes from SKY because it's the SL clubs who vote on that.

That's where the RFL and SL clubs will have to come to some compromise.

On the one hand the SL clubs want as much money as they can get, on the other hand the whole game solution as everybody knows needs the funding to be more evenly distributed.

It's not a case of glossing over or missing points but you can't include everything from A to Z and all what's in between in every post.

In my humble opinion the SL clubs remain very much at an advantage including the ones that go into the eight as they should have more money and be full time.

However, the ones that are the weakest in SL could be replaced by the strongest of the Championship clubs, it will be tough but not impossible.

At least there is a chance now and every game will mean something.

The end of season crowds should go up.

Hypothetically imagine Cas and Fev going at it for one of the places or Fax and Bradford, how many do you think would be there and what sort of atmosphere.

It's certainly better than Licensing or having no chance of promotion and or the old P and R system with the boom and bust that produced.

What does anyone think about new investement coming into the game now SL(E) have announced the new structure. Do we think that more money and investers will come into our 'league' or not.

What ever the money situation is and how the SL decide to allocate thier money our teams will still be at a disadvantage. Still I would love to seea Bardford/Fax play off at the Shay. And Fax win.

As much chance as a snowball in hell of reaching SL as long as we are part time. If we go full time it is an enormous financial gamble that could kill us off if we failed to get promotion. Only mortgaging the Shay after we buy it can give us enough cash at the moment.

Lots of as yet unsubstantiated talk about new investment coming following on from the interest shown in the world cup.

Apparently there are "a number" of interested parties at various levels.

There should be an announcement from the RFL soon on a deal.

BT have been mentioned in the past for the TV rights of SL and were mentioned again in yesterdays RL press as being very interested with the amounts on offer going up because of the competition between the rival companies.

Case of wait and see and hope it doesn't fall flat on it's face.

Super League has agreed a deal with energy supplier First Utility to become the competition's title sponsor for the next three years.

The value of the sponsorship agreement has not been revealed.
