WHY WOULD THE CLUB LIE ABOUT PENKY SIGNING FOR LEIGH?

For the same reason they lied over what really happened to Manning and I Personally think the word lie that you use is in the wrong context here.

It's in the clubs interest to claim Penky hasn't signed for anyone isn't it?? If it came out he had signed for Leigh and subsequently Penky has a bad game what do you think fans would accuse him of, we could even play Leigh so the various connotations speak for themselves surely??

Penky is probably the highest profile player at the club, he's captain and many peoples favourite, to announce now he's going etc could also be negative for the club in their eyes!! Plus it's news, marketing for the club to keep the story alive!!

Personally I don't see the harm in announcing it but understand the need for spin.

Oh, the Keighley game you mean? OK, so we occasionally give the attendance as being less than it actually is but we are only trying to minimise FCHT's humiliation.

The problem for me in circumstances such as these is compounded by those filthy, lying, scrounging parasites the player's agents. Now I don't know whether Sean uses an agent or represents himself but if a player wishes to not take up a contract offer with his current employer for whatever reason then the offer should be withdrawn and the player left to get on with business dealings elsewhere until it impacts on his performances while he's still contracted. We've all seen players relax after they've signed new terms after they slip into the comfort zone, similarly how individuals can lift themselves when looking to extend their stay.
In one very much publicised contractual tug o war this season involving one of our players, many inflated and life-changing figures, terms & conditions were being bandied around un settling the player in question, much of this i expect is specucaltion mainly because only an agent, player & the club official in charge of such dealings will be privvy to the details. It's the agent who keeps the player hanging on waiting for more coin, hedging his bets upping his own fee in the process.
If I were the bloke in charge of selecting the team I'd be pretty sore with a player if he keeps holding out, we all know how it works with the planning ahead for the following season ( which begins in October/November ) well in advance of the current season finishing.
It's all a bit frustrating for everyone concerned.

Chris - I don't know why you bother supporting fax if you think they lie to you. Go an support Bulls or some other SL team, they are always up front about their facts and figures i.e. finances ..... oh wait!

I beg your pardon??? I in fact stated earlier if you can read that I think using the word "lie" was a tad too strong and my point has always been the spin clubs (not just Halifax) Put on news. In football and most sport it's the dreaded vote of confidence for managers, clubs saying no contact has been made etc and in this case Penky saying no deal has been signed with Leigh. My understanding and even The Courier reported it was that the deal was signed and sealed several weeks ago too. Now in sport marketing spin is exactly that and not lying but Nat chose to use that word not me!! Also to support my argument I used the recent Dane Manning incident which the club says happened one way and info elsewhere indicates it didn't happen on the field of play!!

Then you have the cheek to ask why I support Fax, a club up until recently I worked tirelessly to support by helping raise thousands of pounds so it could have a junior set up!! Giving up all my spare time to do so, even though I have 4 kids under 6 and work in a national role at work!!

So show me where I moan in any of my posts about not being in the know as a fan?? I think you'll find I don't once!! My posts have been purely on how clubs communicate what they want to communicate and don't necessarily tell us as fans the whole story?? I couldn't care what the club tell us tbh but I don't always think it is necessarily the real story. Just as I don't in this case with Penky.

My personal understanding was / is that he had signed for another club (I may even have been told wrong but dont think i was) weeks ago, yes the communication from the club is different.... Don't really see how this is me demanding to know everything???

Unless you counted us all, stating "fact" is a little rash! I was a little surprised at the number, but it was a very poor crowd for a play-off game.

Surely, being on TV doesn't have the same effect now? I've subscribed to Premier, but I think there'll only be a handful of Fax fans that wouldn't have turned up and watched it on TV instead? You have to be a real RL fan to subscribe to Premier (unless Conference footie or NHL is for you!), and why would you miss a live game if you could make it? TV is a poor alternative, but great for watching the match again (usually only if we've won!), or for away games that you can't make. Plus, looking at the "incidents" to see if the ref got it right (which he did more against Keighley than certainly I thought he did watching at the Shay!).

I would say that 1200 against Keighley was a pretty fair assessment and i certainly dont think there was anything sinister in that figure. Its a quick turn around from the previous Sunday and people might well have already made plans. I think originally it was gonna be the Sheffield v Batley game for the Thursday night but that was obviously changed, maybe some fans anticipated at that time that we were gonna play Keighley on the Sunday should we beat Batley . Plus Keighley only brought about 30 fans which doesnt help.

Back to Penky. I am not taking side on the ongoing debate but I do not think Penky has signed anything at Leigh. That's not to say he hasn't told Leigh he will go, but, why would he want to announce he is leaving to a team we may play next week. As soon as either us or Leigh are out, Penky will announce.
Lets not forget, only weeks ago we were told that Sam was going elsewhere and that his sponsor knew. Didn't happen and talking to a director we are still hopeful Penky will stay.
