Yes same here, obviously had heard about him and seen him play a few games and remember him playing for Huddersfield in his early days and standing out but not taken a lot of notice of him since but as you say looks a real dangerous player with all the things you mentioned and looks to have some strength, difficult to handle and can bump people off.

Bit older now from some of the highlights and just hope he stays fit.

Knowing our luck he’ll probably get injured in a pre season friendly or bumping into one of his own team mates in training.

To be honest a bit of a shock when I first heard about it being a done deal literally a few hours before it was officially announced.

Led to believe there still looking to strengthen but going to take a step back from trying to keep up with it all and posting as it takes up a lot of time.

Yep, defo need that General on the pitch which makes a massive difference and whilst we hear the term marquee signings, having the right leader is a marquee decision.

On Widdop there has been and will be differing opinions on the pro’s and cons and I’ve heard a few things about his release from Cas, the cryptic retirement from professional rugby league statement etc.

Latest info I have heard is it still could be on and If he does come out of retirement there’s a shirt available and it will be with Fax and it’s down to him to assess things and decide on his next move as it obviously affects not just rugby for another year or two.

On the theme of the squad the way I approach it now is that I / we are just trying to share some information that isn’t based just on guess work but even then things change at the last minute so it’s never done until it’s officially announced and I’m not going to argue with someone about it.

There’s a judgement call on whether and what should be said depending on the sensitivity and confidential nature that it was passed on.

Yeah pretty boring with no drama or abuse. We are going to have to start our own rumors just to make it interesting.

Well last season we had a really exciting close season with lots of promising new signings which, to put it politely, did by and large not work out as hoped. Perhaps our less spectacular recruitment this year will bring a more settled consistent season. Featherstone still not confirmed Hankinson - he would be a perfect fit. This is complete speculation, with probably no chance of happening- but I'm also getting bored with nothing coming out of the club and about 1 post a week on the forum. It wouldn't be so bad if it would just stop bloody raining!

A rumour I heard. :

It will be announced on social media that it will eventually stop raining someday.

Just because its on social media does not mean its true.

A few clubs are announcing DR agreements so if we are going with Leeds next year the club could tell us just to give us something to argue about. And as far as friendlies go i think we are playing Wakefield as part of Kyle woods testimonial. We did play them last year at there place but i do not know if it is at ours or theirs this time. And with the 1895 cup group stage starting in late Jan we could do with a couple of warm up games leading into them. Could we get a game against the Rhinos that should get a decent crowd and give us a good run out which Finn will need with being our new coach.

Quite possibly the most boring off season I’ve witnessed.

Anyone concerned about the players we have let go and the amount or should i say lack of signings we have made. I can not see above 8th year with the current recruitment.

Keep seeing bulls, york, sheffield announcing players and we have done latterly nothing

It was inevitable after last seasons disaster that we would have to go with a skinny squad. For the optimistic amongst us though, every time this has happened in the recent past we have followed up with a bit of a surprise bounce back year. The core of our squad is still pretty good and we know how well they are capable of playing, there was obviously numerous unrest as well last year and things coming out of the camp so far do suggest we might have a happier and overall more settled squad.

May have a happier camp but not enough players in the squad.

For all the long faces on here, we should be happy with the incoming quality - AOB, Douglas and Eden. The only outgoing I'm sorry to see is Walmsley.

One week into pre season and there are already doom mongers giving it large. Common guys give Fax a chance.

I think we just need another decent big centre.

And an organiser, preferably a 6.

Really only one poster that could be suggested as a doom monger but even then you can see where the concerns arise from so its certainly something that can be discussed. It didn't really come across as a sky is falling type post.

We do still have the basis of a really strong team with the retentions this year - if we'd been announcing these now rather than during last season fans would probably be feeling a bit more upbeat. Yes I think we still need a quality centre, but we have made 3 quality signings, I do however think the club could do more to keep fans interested during the off season- at the moment everything just seems very flat.

Well we will have our first hit out at odsal on christmas eve. I can't remember going to a game on christmas eve before but with it being on a sunday this year it probably makes more sense than playing it on boxing day so the players can still enjoy their christmas.
