There's a lot of thick people in Sheffield.

That may be due to their nomadic existence.
London Broncos have endured the same experience.

| They haven't been that nomadic, less than London. They were at the Don Valley for years, yes a horrid place to watch RL but it was their home.
Two of my colleagues are from South Yorkshire and football Mad but interested and played RL. One is from Doncaster and the other from Barnsley. Both state they would never go to Sheffield(football supporters mentality)Thay feel that when Sheffield were re-born a few years back they should have dropped the Sheffield tag and tried to embrace all of South Yorkshire. Anyway hope the Eagles get sorted and stay in our league ( dispite losing to Oldham last night ).

This is a difficult one, you call yourself South Yorkshire in hope to fish in a bigger pond but then nobody has a real affinity with you, you're not Sheffield or Ritherham or Barnsley etc. But you call yourself Sheffield and everyone else outside of there won't support you. To be fair Sheffield is a big enough pond and there is a rugby presence at amateur level so it's pretty unexplainable why they can't get at least 5 thousand in regularly, even after winning the CC.

| Most weekends less than 80,000 people attend a live game in the top three leagues. I also believe tha this number is lower than in the eraly years of Super League. Less than 2500 at Salford last night. The game is a minority sport and to attract new fans, or get fans back, Clubs have to give value for money and succeed on the pitch.
A team like Sheffield has to increase attendances by over 300% just to reach Salfords level (and They owe Dr k over £5m) the economics of Rugby is shot.
Only way any club will ever bridge the divide is by a general downward levelling (which is happening in SL as the top players move to Australai or Union for money) or by an investor being willing to spend their cash. Forget any one else's resurgence, forget a realignment, keep our club secure as only the fans can.

Or you could call yourself something totally non-geographical. As did Arsenal.
