Who'd have thought it. We decided against surrendering home advantage for a game which could potentially net us a Challenge Cup Quarter Final.

Jeez - we're bulldozing the stadium just for your personal convenience.

Four o'clock ?
Would we be charging the fun-runners for crossing the finish line ?

No I said the fun run, because you asked whether I expected you to charge the fun run finishers.
You have quoted the half marathon which should be over for 12.

| I know it won't attract much interest and debate or in fighting but.
What does everyone think about playing the Eagles away in the next round of the CC by the way.

| Not happy about this going down the M62 and M1 on a Friday teatime and was hoping it would be at Bramall Lane not Don Valley. Are the Eagles playing at Bramall lane this year or has their agreement ended with Sheff Utd?
Out of interest where are they playing next year after Don Valley closes???

| We've played one game there this season.
We were supposed to play Barrow there but Sheff Utd decided a few days before we couldn't, and we were also supposed to play Dewsbury there next weekend but because Sheff Utd are a bit and have ended up in the playoffs that's been re-arranged to DVS as well.
I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't play there again to be honest.
As for next year, we will be in a non permanent home (even more non permanent that our arrangements now!) somewhere in the region, before hopefully moving into the planned purpose built stadium on the Don Valley site at some point during the 2015 season.

Do you think that there will be a new Don valley when your Council cannot afford the current one? Being a local authority worker myself I very much doubt it as we are all going through huge cutbacks and you would have to ask if they cannot afford the current one how can they afford a new one???
Good luck, I think you need a small stadium which would give you some atmosphere when there is a thousand people in it not a 20K stadium where we will all be lost in.

| I probably won't be going to this game, as I aren't using a days Holiday from work for a trip to Sheffield, if I can move my day off then I'll think about it.
As for the Don Valley Stadium (who is Don Valley anyway?), good riddance, the fact that Sheffield Taxpayers are still footing the bill for the world student games some time in the early 90s is an absolute disgrace.
As for a non permanent home next season, where's that likely to be? Rotherham's New York Stadium?
Or how about Hallam FC, Looks big enough -

New Stadium funding is nothing to do with the Council I believe, funded by a number of organisations including Sheffield Hallam Uni

Sheffield Eagles v Halifax
All ties will be played over the weekend of May 11-12.
It now says this :-
Sheffield Eagles v Halifax
All ties will be played over the weekend of May 10-12.
Perhaps we should have got in early and told 'em p*ss off with their Friday night game, hopefully the lads will just go there and do the business on yet another ridiculously narrow pitch.
Let just hope they can sort out at one ground to play their games in future, sadly for their fans all this moving of games week in, week out must be highly frustrating.

The taxpayer will be paying for Don Valley 10 years after it's gone!
It's easy to say "good riddance" and I agree it is a bit of a crumbling dump, and less than ideal for rugby league due to how far away from the pitch you are, but as an athletics venue it is still a very high standard, both indoor and outdoor facilities.
What's got people's goat up is this whole Olympic legacy bollo*ks, the whole city rallied behind Jess, she went and won gold then the next thing you know they're tearing down her training patch.
From a personal point of view Don Valley holds a lot of nostalgia, I'm 20 years old now and, as some of you may know, I have family ties to the Eagles and have been going my whole life. I've spent a hell of a lot of my childhood in that place, it holds some great memories and it will be a shame to see it go! But we have to move on and, if the plans for the new ground do come off, it will be the best thing to happen the club in its history. One or two years on the road so to speak will be well worth it if we finally get somewhere to call home. Would also give us much more of an opportunity to draw in the crowds and one day get back to SL.

| I recognise the whole thing about the training facility been lost, that is a blow, but the whole "Olympic Legacy" train was only ever going to benefit London, and even then I think in 5-10 years people will look back and ask what's become of it. The whole volunteering thing that followed on from the Gamesmakers is dying out very quickly.
It would be good for Sheffield Eagles to have a proper home, somewhere where they can build a proper identity, while it'd be an unpopular idea I'd also suggest a move away from Red Shirts, choose a colour other than Red or Blue and build an identity around that.

| I know plenty of Wednesday fans that follow the Eagles and a red kit has never bothered them. We've always worn red and gold, complete non issue!
I follow both clubs home and away and couldn't care less.
