We did ok in the first half, second half was awful, ref didn't help but we can't blame it all on him, am afraid i think we need to drop danny and bring Holroyd, Ben was far too quiet tonight, Carry on like this it will be a long season

Questioned this as well. Its obvious that MC dosnt know his first choice line up. The backs are good enough if you change Holly for Jones but the pack is quite frankly very poor.Ive been banging on but you cant replace some quality players with players who arnt good enough and expect to compete.We have what like 10 props at the club but i only rate Aizue as good enough for this level of rugby the rest are average at best.

I just cant understand some of the selections, i mean Greenwood on the bench? Its not going to change the game swapping the full backs is it? Jones isnt good enough and anyone with half a brain can see it yet we have Holly playing in the 23`s who even at this stage in his career is twice the player of Jones. Out of the pack you can take Aizue, Penky, Beswick, Bannister and Barlow and that is it.

At least the staff and players get another holiday in France.

The big thng tonight was that the game went ahead without incident - and it appears it did. AND - I enjoyed myself!!!! - as it should be!

Disgraceful refereeing, who to be honest on that showing, shouldn't be refereeing a national conference game for a while, never mind a championship game containing last years grand finalists. Twice reversed decisons he had made, went to the video ref every try, penalised in general play for very strange things, and only once actually blew up for infringement at the ruck (amazingly that was actually against us). We seem to again be in the same boat as early last season, or maybe a couple of seasons ago when we played Cas in the challenge cup, very one dimensional. We have very little idea as to how to break them down, after having no joy from quick play the balls. We will only succeed with this, if a referee penalises teams for slowing down the play the ball, unfortunately tonight Laughton didn't...... Miles is still not up to speed, tonight at least shows Fieldhouse is up to job, and should be first choice for a few games now. Beswick was superb, tackling everything and basically playing 6 the second half. Worrincy did well, always looking for work. I agree with the previous post though, forward wise we are lacking, take out Bob, penky, sam, aizue and bannister and we're nothing.

Just watched the first half. The decisions the Ref actually makes are correct, the problem is that he misses so much.

Laughton seems to have a chip on his shoulder. He WON'T penalise either team when the fans are screaming for an obvious penalty.

But then suddenly, he'll pull up an infringement when the crowd haven't noticed it!

Hes a poor ref. Maybe him being a copper gets him away with reffing at this level (You will respect my Auroritah & all that)

I can imagine he won't be too popular with Whitehaven then with the number of forward passes he'll ignore, till there is one the fans don't notice, then he'll judge it forward.

Secondly it seems there were no incidents or bother so think we can both be applauded

I think the disallowed try early in the second half was a gamebreaker had it been given it mightve been curtains for us but luckily it wasnt given and we went up other end and scored

At 20-20 it was anyones game but we had got our tails up and kicked on i felt we played the ref better and fax didnt resulting in the poor discipline - the fustration clearly shown by blacks (who we did a job on in the 2nd half) quivering bottom lip
at the final whistle

Worst 40 minutes I've seen from Fax in a long time. Had Featherstone beat in the pack in the First Half but complete turnaround in the second. I find it difficult to single out one player who had a bad game as they were all pretty shocking in the second half. However, the number of tries scored down Worrincy's side says a lot, he needs Haley to be his centre on that side on a regular basis to help solidify it.

Completion rate and stupid penalties are what cost Halifax, can blame the ref all you want but tonight was all down to the players. Sheffield next week won't be easy but as they say its now how you start its how you finish.

Second Half was made worse by two charvers sat behind the press area going on about how Fev 'aren't even that good' as well as constantly criticsing the referee and generally talking complete nonsense. Not a great night.

I thought we were beaten by the better team, my problem is that Fev can play a lot better than that and had they done, we would have taken a pounding.

So far for me, a number of players just aren't the force they need to be. I have watched the game back on sky after getting home, and maybe its just the cameras, or because it was later, but, and only as means of an example, is someone like Bannister the player he has been ?

I'm really worried about this half back partnership, despite what some people belive. I think Jones goes about his work very well, he just doesn't seem capable of linking in these 'moves' with Black. Theres no talking between the two. Anway Ronnie Look At Me Laughton was his usual self, but he was bad to both teams.

And like Norman i'm going to have to question Matts choice at putting a full back on the bench, for a game like that aswell! And then to be constently rotatitng them when the pressure was on was idiotic. Anyway thats not me calling for Matt to go, just that i believe he should start double checking them team sheet...

I know we'll come good, but I just want Matt and the team to understand its not going to be so simple this year.

I havent watched the whole game back yet, but at the start they say that Barlow was supposed to start on the bench, but Paul Smith was a late pull out due to illness. I am only guessing that Greenwood was a late inclusion.

Thats said i think we are light at the front and if we continue like this we will get battered down the middle time after time.

The speed and organisation in our game was lacking too. Fev looked a yard or two faster at the ptb and much better organised. We look like the Tasmanian Devil at times - we need to get a bit of coherence in our game. It may have served us well in the past when we had one or two more quality players to execute that kind of game but right now we need a bit of order to our play . Oh, and when we get a penalty - we should kick for touch. Players expend much effort gaining yardage in normal play so when it's handed to you on a plate via a penalty - take advantage and kick for bloody touch.

Are hookers thick? They must be if he thinks Worrincy cost us the game. The whole team cost us that match.

No he's not thick Richie! He's a top lad! However, he's a bleedin hooker and in line with the stereo-typical hooker - he has an opinion that no matter what the evidence is put before him, he'll present you with an argument that his opinion is correct and as such won't be changed!
