| I was shocked at how the Fev Fans were acting. I think the majority of rugby fans are used to vocal abuse by now. But the way that those 30+ Fev fans tried to run on the pitch thinking they were in a scene of Green Street or something was disgusting.
I was also amazed at when we were walking back around the stadium after the game, 5 Fev Fans all in there 20's started laughing, chucking stuff and shouting the "w..ky... chant" at a boy who only must have been 14/15. Just not needed at all in this game, really was bullying.
Hope whoever was involved pulls through. Sad end to a great day.
York City Knights fan standing with the Fev fans. Sums it up perfectly.
Quote For me and a few others this was just not the sort of environment or atmosphere I want to stand in and watch rugby with my 14yr old daughter, I have not seen that sort of behaviour at an RL game in over 35 years of watching it, [upolice with batons drawn ? do we really want that creeping into our game ?[/u I think not.'"
And before anyone cries out I know there was problems in our crowd aswell. But the Fev lot, not a nice crowd at all.

Hope the lad pulls through. What a shame such a classic game has been tarnished by this incident and the fire too.

| Funnily enough, last year I saw absolutely no trouble at all. Fans from bot Fax & Barrow were drinking together in the pub just outside the ground. After the game there were hands being shaken & friendly banter - No trouble. When Fev came to Barrow earlier in the season there were Fev supporters swapping ends and goading fans. After the game there was trouble in the crowd.........seems to be a common denominator in amongst all this doesn't there?
I sincerely hope that your supporter recovers fully. I have just started taking my 5yr old to games and don't want this type of thing creeping in. I most certainly won't be attending any game involving Fev

| Am I the only one who expected this if we won, I have said for many a seasons when we play Fev away a lot of them get nasty if we we win at their place, htis season has been better as we lost but when we have won afterwards it's been a bit dodgy, I've seen grown men try get on teh fax coach starting, bricks and what not pelted at the coaches, kids effing and blinding tos us. When they win their more or less fine but when they lose they get nasty.
All yesterday you could tell quite a large majority just wanted to kick off, even before the game, then to win like we did well that was asking for it, I think we staying in the ground quite a bit afterwards to cheer the team was a blessing in disguise.

This guy should be walking round with a headache and a massive smile on his face today after enduring the hard times with Fax!

| There was a group of about 20 Fev fans waiting down the access road to the coach park, looking for trouble, all in there late teens early 20's, even a couple of females. They were chanting at us, but didn't have the balls to start on large groups, instead took to throwing full beer cans at Fax fans after they had walked past, and waiting for the stragglers
After a couple of unsavoury incidents whilst changing ends at Post Office Road in the play off game, tied to events yesterday, I will never set foot in Post Office Road again. Scum the lot of them. Poor winners - as we saw on this board after the play off, but even worse losers.
We had a few Halifax idiots yesterday, but not as many as Fev.
There is no place for this in Rugby League. We were only talking in the Ivy House before the game about the friendly family atmosphere we get in the game, all the big games attracting neutral fans wearing their club colours without fear.
Really took the gloss off a superb day for the club and fans

| I hope the lad pulls through.
It's about time the RFL changed the venue for our big day out, the HJ is poorly stewarded/policed, the parking of opposition coaches next to each other is asking for trouble.
Some Fev fans were a shower of $hite yesterday, do they realy live their lives behaving like that ?
SCUM.

| I sincerely hope the injured guy makes a full recovery. I attend nearly all international and Grand finals, but i had no intrbtion of attending yesterday. My family and i will never attend any match involving Featherstone Rovers due to incidents at both Post Office road and Headingley in the past. The animosity to other fans is beyond belief.

Yes we were in Spoons a group of about 15 Fax fans enjoying a laugh and a few drinks when suddenly we were mobbed by the so called 'Fev fans' who were very intimidating the police were soon there and on the door we left the pub and moved on but it was the same everywhere we went I'm all up for a bit of banter and last year we had that with the Barrow fans that is what our wonderful game is about and this behaviour needs to be stamped out we don't need it ruining our game!!............ We too noted that most of them just had the flat caps on and no shirts definitely just out for trouble................ Hope the fan is going to be OK

| I am a Fev Fan and would like to reply to some of the posts on this thread.
1 First of all let me wish the gentleman a full and speedy recovery.
2 I hope the thugs are arrested, charged and locked away for a long time.
3 I hope they are banned for life from ALL rugby grounds and have ther faces plastered on turnstiles, forums, club sites and local newspapers.
4 I hope that if any Fev fan knows who was involved they come forward and give the info to the police.I saw some trouble makers and can honestly say i've not seen them at Fev all season and you do tend to recognise faces of regulars, these weren't.
I know that feelings are running high but please don't label all Fev fans as scum, we're not and frankly it is unhelpful. I won't deny we have some fans who misbehave but generally the ones who attend regularly are decent fans and are not only suffering because of yesterday's result but also incidents like this.Believe me our fans (those who don't just crawl out of the woodwork for finals) are disgusted with the behaviour of our so called supporters and I personally wish they didn't attend.
The stewards and police need to ask themselves some serious questions.
Why didn't they move the Fax fans on the pitch towards the North stand where the Fax fans were seated rather than let them line up near the Fev fans.
I am not making excuses for our supporters but some Fax fans were goading our supporters and the situation could easily have got out of hand.
Why was there no police presence in the coach area when the police knew that there were incidents taking place outside the ground.I hope they learn a lesson because this could have been prevented.
I hope that the clubs can rebuild relations and it is going to take the decent supporters of both clubs to do this by joining together, condeming the thugs, identifying them if we can and when we visit each others grounds try to join forces to stamp out bad behaviour.
Enjoy the victory as we did our league leaders title and I hope next season we can start to build bridges because I bear no grudge against honest decent rugby supporters regardless of who they support.
Phil

| First of all my I say how sorry I am for the man who was attacked in Warrington yesterday, and hope he recovers soon.
My daughter and I attend this finals day every year, and have always enjoyed the day, last year I felt uncomfortable in the final game and asked to be moved out of the South Stand into the East Stand. This year, from the end of the second game when the Featherstone fans started to pile into the South Stand it was obvious to us as neutrals and sober that there was a chance of trouble. Although the people close to us were ok there were many fans the worse for drink. One man with a beard was continually being asked to move of the stairway (this is a health and safety issue) refused to do so. You wonder while stewards become frustrated. We left at half time.
I think it is unfair to blame the HJ or Warrington Wolves for what happened. But yes if this is what the finals day brings to my town and my club I agree please go elseware.
On a final note well done to Warrington Wizards, York City Nights and Halifax.
Yes we have idiots as well. We don't want them in our game either.
A Warrington Wolves Fan (A Lady in her late 60's )A passionate Rugby League Supporter.

Its all well and good a decent fan putting something like this on, However the damage is already done, and from what i am reading on the TotalRFL site it is not uncommon when featherstone lose for this to happen.
www.totalrl.com/index.php?showtopic=209007
I for one will never visit your stadium again or put money into your gates, shared or not.
People forget that we were in the Grand final with Barrow last year, There was no problems and fans interacted between each other without and underlying agenda. It clearly is a issue that you have with your town and local supporters as when you travel they dont seem to be that bad.

sorry but some fans have idiots. But you lot only have some decent fans. There are 2 clubs who always have the same issue. Fev and Hull FC. Speak with any fan of a club and they always highlight these clubs. This year has been been the best visits I have had to Fev for along time but as people have said this is because we lost. I have just about had enough with Fev, it has been the same since I started watching the game in the 80's. Scum 80% of them. Feel sorry for the minority that are good fans.

Well get onto your club and see what they are going to do about it! There were large numbers of fans out on the lash, only interested in singing about how much they hate cas ect, would probably have had a fight with each other if they couldnt find anyone else to fight, probably tagging on to the club as its a final but ultimately they were representing the village of Fev, many Warrington Locals in the town centre didnt have very much good to say about the fev people because of their behaviour around the town,
Quite a Few Fev People painted a picture of themselves yesterday in warrington, and it wasnt a good one, and people will generalise a view on all the fans because of these "few" (id say many)

| I've just received a 'phone call from a good mate of mine who takes his family to 'Fax games who reads this messageboard, but doesn't post comments.
He's alarmed at the content of this particular topic and asked me if I'd make some of the facts known on here, rather than people speculate as to what happened.
He, his wife and two teenage kids were eye witnesses to the incident and have given a witness statement to the police, it was he who called the ambulance. He said that someone jumped on the injured man's back and he fell to the ground banging his head in the process and was put into the recovery position by ny mate's wife until the medics arrived.
It appears that it wasn't an act of thuggery, but a prank or something like that that went badly wrong.
I'd like to thank my mate for clearing this up and asking me to post on the forum, he & his family are clearly bothered by the whole event and some of the comments attatched to this topic.

| I must admit I am appalled at what has happened to that lad. I was in the South stand and I saw quite a few lads who looked out of control. It is a sad fact that when some people get drunk they become nasty violent and abusive and lose all reason.
A sad reflection on a few peoples inappropriate behaviour. Had I witnessed the assault I would definately give the police a description of these thugs and if you know someone who saw it make sure they ring the number given on this thread.
Have just read Marrillion mans post after I posted mine.

| Big shame something like this happened after such a great final. Hope the lads alright. Saw him after game in car park and it did look bad.
There were still quite a Fev fans around trying to cause problems after it had happened, and even 'celebrity' Fax fan Alan Carr got punched.
For balance though, I have to mention that there were Fev fans around trying to help the guy and seeming apologetic and concerned for what had happened.
Shame it's going to put so many off going to Fev in future really

| this is from Warrington newspaper;
"A RUGBY fan has is fighting for his life after being attacked after the Halifax verses Featherstone clash.
The 32-year-old man, who is a Halifax rugby supporter, was returning to his coach at the car park on Dallam Lane, when he was attacked at around 8.15pm, yesterday, Sunday.
He suffered a serious head injury and is being treated at Walton Hospital after receiving emergency surgery.
Police say the car park was extremely busy with many fans returning to coaches.

| Terrible news i really hope whoever it is makes a full recovery and the scumbags get caught. I must admit even as a neutral the Fev fans were playing up. I could see in the stand across some idiot stood up on somebodys shoulders causing a scene and upon leaving the ground you could feel eyes all over you as if they wanted to start a fight. Luckily we were dressed in normal clothing so avoided any hassle. The Halifax folk we were sat with all seemed decent down to earth folk.
