Here's my twopennorth
Gene Has dissapointed IMHO
Aizue has another year to go on his deal but with injuries and off field issues has not been a good signing
Larder and Wrench have both been good clubmen but time has caught up with them and probably their last season
Roberts can't seem to get into the 17
I think that Goddard and Worrincy have improved greatly this season
White on a one year deal as I recall Plus we should soon have Miles Greenwood back -hopefully fully recovered
Possibly add Cherryholm to the list and we will be short of front rowers next season

Miles will be back soon so either he or Shad will drop onto the wing. Next years back line for me:
1. Greenwood
2. Royston
3. Paterson
4. Nash
5. Haley
Worrincy comes inside too much when he should just take the tackle on the wing. This would then enable us to hit up the middle or spread it to the other side of the pitch, thus stretching the oppositions defence line. By him coming inside all the time this option is taken away from us. Just my thoughts.

That's if Shad stops. I think it took people throwing themselves at his feet in the street to get him to stop on another year! It's a bit of a pickle really, when Miles is fit would you really play him at fullback given Shad's red-hot form? Would he score as many points playing in any other position?

He has to a degree. But he will be 34 next year. I would like us to bring in a few young players and despite Frank doing OK this year he is not a top Prop in this League. He is lazy at times and his defence suspect. Rugby League is a young mans game especially in Summer. Its tough work when you are 34 over 100KG and the injuries and knocks hurt longer. If Fax have to cut back on wages I can see Frank leaving. I expect Roberts, Larder and Aizue to be not here next year. I think Wrench, Gene, White, Cherryholme could easily join them.

That would leave us with only Mallony Tamgart possibly Ostik as props

Would mean obviously we would need to bring in a couple. Depends how much money we have, but the likes of Hesketh (Batley) as likely we have less money to spend and no point going for broke in a League we are stuck in no matter what we do for the next few years.

Comedy Post?
Greenwood comes back and Royston will move back to 13 wont he? For me Royston and Worrincy have been our best players this season. So why on earth we would get rid of the winger that makes more hard yards and have Haley in the team is beyond me.

| Its a bit early to be saying things BUT the way this season has gone I would say we need a bit of a clearout at the end of this season and we need to go back to basics and sign younger players, start investing in a youth set up and look at the long term as come on we aint gonna get into SL, not sure anybody is maybe Widnes but will they really have the b*lls to kick out an existing SL team???
Too many 'glory players' in our team and what you need are players like at Batley or look at Hornets (Rochdale as was who were down and out last year), lads that will play as a team and bust a gut because they feel privileged to be in the first team playing at this level. Thats what has annoyed me as we have on paper the best squad but maybe not the right mix and Calland and Hall have been like a kiddie in a sweet shop the last 2 years picking what looks nice, oh lets have a Gleeson despite having 2 good hookers already as an example or oh Stanley Gene and Makali Aizue they must be good (despite being too old come on).

I would agree with that.....but.....is it of his own volition or is it what he is being coached, and instructed, to do?

You don't think by a winger "coming inside" as you put it, might be a competition between his speed and possibly a lack of speed of let's say a retreating prop who might be tiring ?
If the lad stayed out wide and got tackled, he'd be criticised on here in some parts.

| It always amazes me when fans sat around me grumble when Worrincy runs sideways!
First of all a winger has to be fit enough to do this, as it significantly increases his work rate
He is tactically doing a few things here
1) There is no gap straight ahead, and therefore he would be tackled instantly, thus not giving our side time to get back and set up when under pressure, or after an attack that has broken down
2) There is no gap straight ahead and therefore, by running sideways the attaching player is trying to create a gap, by running at speed across a defence
3) Is looking for another player to make himself available or pass that would further split a retreating defence
4) A player running sideways or crabbing makes the defenders work harder
I did not see the feature but i believe Brain Carney ran a similar article on sky the other week, one conclusion being that running sideways can if used effectively be a sound tactic!

| What an absolute load of rubbish. I agree jonnie.
Worrincey was the consistent player in our very lean spell. He has got us out of many holes this season, he has been a prolific tryscorer, he has dominated god knows how many tackles and won numerous quick plays or penalties, by crabbing and isolating defenders. I don't know what the lad has to do to be appreciated...probably go to a club whose fans know anything about rugby....if one exists.
mp, if you think that the best place to build play from is the touchline, then your argument is immediately flawed...and as boots said, comical.
Frank has been our best prop, consistently, this season, and is the heart and soul of the club. We would miss him.

| I agree Jonnie.
Rob causes havoc with defences 9 out of 10 times. Not only does he look for the gaps, but he also drags the opposition defence out of position, opening up a gap for the supporting player.

| Many years ago, "Nosey" Parker tried to take the club over but failed in a somewhat embarassing manner.
Prior to this he was a supporter just like the rest of us.
I think he some "issues" which influence his attitude to Halifax RLFC.

| Todays Courier does indeed bring this into the public domain, something is going on for sure.
My own opinion is just my own, Stanley has been poor by his own standards, as has Makali, compare those two to the improving younger players like Bannister and Ostick and the way forward is pretty simple and we wont need Sir John Harvey Jones to work out the cost benefits, whether there is more too it i dont know.
Well have to wait and see whats behind all this though, sometimes the things you dont say, speak louder than the things you do.

says gene faces formal disciplinery procedures over something unspecific.also interesting is that hes unlikely to play the 20+ fixtures to trigger a second yr contract.

| thanks for that.
Wonder if the 20 games clause is a standard thing in all the 2 year deals ?
Obviously we could still keep players who haven't met this criteria if we wanted to, but it does offer the club some protection.
