Got to agree with this got to keep the stand as full as it is now or else it will just wither and die and be allowed to fall into a bigger mess than it is now.
A proper focus is needed eg a family stand complete with entertainment and a seperate family ticket for that stand so it builds up it`s own identity. There should be as much work put into filling that stand as the other.

Excellent idea plus an upgrade of toilet facilities

Have to agree we are probably short of money but surely having another thriving stand would be self financing? Families coming down together instead of dad coming on his own means more money spent in the shop on shirts ,programmes etc. When you go to other stadiums you usually find that they have a family stand that is sponsored for instance I know it`s hard to sell things like that but it can be done. The sponsorship would pay for the entertainment it would not have to be a lot ,just a few extra freebies to hand out at matches and things like that.
If you mean the stand itself would be a wate of money spending on it I disagree .Yes the under 20s need the money but keeping up with the stand is the councils responsibility isn`t it? The more people who use that stand the better for me lets see it full, we don`t want an excuse for it being left in a state of disrepair.

It may sound greedy, but we need funding to sort out the Skircoat Stand as it has now replaced the East Stand as the stadium eyesore. For an extra quid or 2 you can now sit in a far better stand, with substantially more facilities. The Skircoat is in big danger of becoming a deserted delapidated relic, a 19th century stand in a 21st century stadium. My idea of an open stand is to distinguish it from the East stand. An open stand also embraces the concept of summer rugby. Maybe it would be best to be entirely standing terracing with facilities at the back such as a bar.

Oh yes don't get me wrong, I agree with you. But since we have now checked the stadium box. it would be a good idea just to get some strong and secure youth teams set up. Because thats what will put us in contention for Super Dooper League.

| But like I said it may not be a case of "one or the other" with some hard selling both may be possible. The upkeep of the stand is the responsibility of the council and if enough people use it they will keep up with the upkeep of it.

| We haven't ticked all the stadium boxes, were in a better position, better than some SL clubs, but in time they will leap ahead of us, The North Stand has a lack of basic facilities, and so does the Skircoat, added to that the Skircoat has restricted viewing too, this all holds us back in some circumstances, all i am suggesting like Tony we dont sit back, phase one of improvements could be done relaitively quickly and easily, i.e get that eyesore roof off, remove the restricted views. allowing people a great summer rugby experience in the sun (if they choose), upgrade the facilities such as toilets and catering options on these sides. theres no way we can afford to undertake rebuilding the Skircoat now, but we can really tidy up and improve the ground relatively cheeply, phase 2 in few years to stick a roof on the Skircoat. It really doesn't seem outlandish to me, at the moment the Skircoat is now the dead duck, the useless stand, the eyesore, whos gonna be happy to sit there. Theres plenty of good open stands and grounds all over the country that dont mind a bit of rain on them. I really hope people dont attempt to bask in the debacle and latent glory of the East stand. Pretty soon were gonna find its really nothing special. No time for complacency or resting on laurels.

What should your ' challenge ' be ?
I'd say 5/6 K averages in the Championship by 2014 , but I'll guarantee you wont get there without changing what you have done in the past , just putting a RL match on 15 times a year and hoping they come just wont cut it I'm afraid

While I wanted the side stand at Leigh to be a standing terrace you already have 2 large standing area's , you really dont need another one unless you think you are going to start drawing 10,000 crowds in the next 2 years
You should be looking at sticking a 1,000 free entry fans [ 250 family tickets into the Skircoat each game but ensure they are different fans for every game , how many junior schools are there in Fax ? , tell your fans what you are doing , why you are doing it , and the benifits long term for your club of doing it'"
It will be - The East, North and Skirtcoat will all be open for home games. Season tickets have been sold for the Skircoat Road stand. I do agree with the free tickets for schools and making sure they are different - Aim for 7 year olds. There has been some research done that at that age kids actually watch the full game and may then go on to support the team - Huddersfield Town football do 7 at 7 or something similar through schools where if its a kids 7th birthday they get 7 kids tickets and and adult tickets. They throw in a replica shirt as well. whether or not that would be viable for Fax i dont know.

I dont think we can expect significant increases in match attendances for either club just because there is a fancy new stand to use and especially at £18 a ticket for the rugby. I also think the club are crazy if they are going to keep the Skircoat Stand open. 2,000+ supporters rattling around three stands with a capacity somewhere in the region of 8,000 doesnt bode well for creating an atmosphere. Sod it, lets have the North Stand open as well?

Love it how that now the East Stand is just about finished, people are expecting the Council to spend more money in developing the Skircoat. And I am unsure how using the Skircoat would make its redevelopment self-financing.

| Although the Skircoat stand doesn't look as good as the East Stand, all it really needs is a new roof.

Not if we don't have more bums on seats and the 'required' youth structure.

It may be a risk? Where do you expect the millions of pounds to come from to develop the Skircoat Stand?

| Just use the East Stand and South Stand. Use the North Stand for the visit of Widnes and maybe Leigh who are likely to bring a few away fans. The Skircoat stand is OK for now. Maybe it will need sorting in a couple of years time but certainly no desperate need to do anything or even use it.
