| I was stood down the front at the side of the Fev fans and they were a good bunch, at 18-0 they were hoping it wasn't going to be 40 and I know how happy they were at winning in the end, I've been there myself but I was really disappointed with the 2 beered up nobs who were goading the Fev fans with the bus stop song from the front of the SS, I would have been quite happy to see them down the front after the game, reckon they'd have been taken down a peg or 2. Unfortunately there will only be more of those types as we become more successful, assuming we don't keep choking.

| Quote ="Cassandra"I don't think anyone is complaining about shouting for your team. It's the d1ck head little scrotes in their "Soiled nappies" throwing coins and plastic bottles that annoy away and home fans. They should all be fitted with a tag or branded with a hot iron, so they can not get within 500 yards of the ground. In peril of their nappie being stuffed down their throat. Why don't the fans around them alert the stewards when this happens? or are you happy to go alone with it as long as the away fans don't get involved? The choice seems to be with yourselves.'"
I asked Geoff Butler (as as Stadium Manager stewards are surely his responsibility) when we'd have some Stewards who can control a crowd. His answer was "Our fans are as bad"
that doesnt answer my Question, Had I said our fans had behaved impeccably? Mind you he'd just tried to stop 2 Fev fans getting on the pitch who just walked around him
So if the Stadium Manager doesnt see there to be a problem with the stewarding, there obviously Isnt one is there

| The stewarding at the Shay has been a joke for years. It the complete oppostie to that you see at footy. They get edgy when you stand up in an all seater stadium, these lot do NOTHING. How many times on Friday did supporters from both teams have to physically calm there own fans down or tell them off? It shouldnt get the the stage it does sometimes anyway. Ok, people should act a bit better in public but its competative sport, the end of the week, people are gonna have a few etc etc but it is going to happen, you can brand RL as 'the family sport' all you like, it still goes on.
I think it's getting to the stage were despite on 200 aways fans turning up etc, the Away Stand should just be open for them creating no problems at all.
Personally i don't blame fans for chanting 'easy, easy etc' at 18-0 up. At that stage it was and we didnt know the outcome plus it's a bit o banter innit, everythings banter, it's just some dont rise above it, but that when the stewards wanna stop fans from running to the front of the stand an mouthing off to everyone.
Some people also get a bit stressed when bad things happen for some reason. I think some genuinly thought we'd go the entire season un beaten at home, playing nice rugby, everyone in the stands would be happy and the away fans would just come and go as they do. sport or life isnt like that, things happen, things a lot worse than what we saw on Friday. People need to take stock and chillax a bit about things.

| you have to show an element of arrogance when you are on top. It was easy after 20 minutes. At then it got harder and fev soon shut us up.
But isn't that what sport is all about. .Highs and lows.
You got to enjoy success otherwise what's the point.
Should we be perpetually humble? Apologise for being better?
Not make a noise about the highs just because we are so au fait with the lows. When teams and fans rub your noses in it, it is annoying, but also galvanising.
Aussies are the perfect exponents of winning

Being arrogant does throw it open to idiots in the stand to take it the wrong way. By being aggressive to the point of throwing objects at opposition fans. Which in turn gets their back up and take it out on our fans stood close to them. Until these small minded "Scrotes" are rounded up and ejected it will carry on.

Look m8 dont assume you are talking to some prude hear, i have followed Leeds Utd and England all over europe, i even got tear gassed in sardinia in 1990 world cup v holland, not big, not clever im older now. I actually loved the atmosphere Friday full of passion from both sets, it was like the old days watching Rovers. What sed me and the other off was the throwing its fkg out of order at a RL game they dont do it in soccer any more. I tell you there was some tough old ex-players in that Rovers crowd that dont want but wouldnt shirk away from a tear up, them little shiiiites were goading us all night, have they been doing that all season?
Cas are the same, the other year we were in the wheldon rd end and they showered us with urine from pint pots, all the fans ran at them swinging punches as anyone who had been showered in ss would, true to form they legged it loads of our fans got banged up and we were branded thugs, we arnt. I got told of a York fan they do that to most fans. I went on the train with some mates friday we got into Halifax at 2pm had a right day found some cheap pubs, had a sit down curry everyone was friendly. That is why i now watch Rugby not football, i dont want to be involved in any trouble but il be damded if im gonna just stand there while some little scrout throws stuff at me.

That is a good post and I have noticed an element of the crowd geting nastier for some time.It has upset me twice to watch it as they do not seem to bother about very small children geting drawn into it.
Although the stewards thankfully did seem to have a bit of a stratagy about them this week ,it seemed too little too late in my opinion.
What is needed is for the group to be watched throughout the match and as soon as one of them throws something then march him out of the ground . If any of the others carry on throwing stuff do the same again eventually they would get the message and it splits them up a bit.
They have been chucking things for some time now and nothing has been done about it which I believe has led to an escalation at the last two matches where small children have been scared witless.Anyone who condones that must be out of their tiny minds. What is the point of having someone read the "respect "thing out at every match warning people about bad behaviour if no-one gets anything done to them.
This will escalate further now because it was not nipped in the bud earlier in the season unless measures are taken. It`s ok someone on this thread taking the Mick about a Fev`s lad being scared well it wasn`t just the one child either I saw 2 who could have been no more than 5/6 scared witless and I am glad my own grandchildren did not see it .
Maybe the usual "respect message" that gets trotted out every week has become routine to everyone maybe somebody differant needs to take the mic` before the next home match and tell everyone the club will not stand any more from the small bunch of idiots that are giving the club a bad name and a repeat of it will mean they will be barred from the ground and jolly well do it.

Its a fine line really m8, most of the games in the championship and 1 are dead for an atmosphere, that was banging Friday i loved it, your fans singing at us got us going and singing back. I find anywhere there is a covered terrace and a team starts getting success you will get a load of youths gathering in a spot and singing getting an atmosphere going. Nothing wrong with that, but then what starts happening is when opposing fans are in the same stand ( as happens a lot with rl fans changing ends) the gang of singers who are mostly teenagers get an "our stand " mentality. Cas have it now with the Wheldon end well whenever Rovers play there it is seen as a challenge to go in there and give them some. The problem at the Shay now is with only the one terrace every game you share the same stand. most games nothing will happen then you will play a game like Friday where the oppositions fans will give them some back and all helll breaks loose, then what happens is when you play these teams again more home scroats turn up because they will get a reaction and more away fans to give them some back.I dont know what the answer is but a start would be somehow stop them throwing because most men even with kids wont mind being sang at and abused really they will laugh it off, its just that throwing shiiiite that will tip them over the edge

Some stewards all the game among the fans in the 'hot spot' is the answer, but with our stadium management that would be too obvious and involve making a decision.
Won't happen sadly.

I agree, the other thread about the Drinking Culture was locked, and there were some very valid points on there. Get this locked too so we can get back to saying how good we really are etc etc

| May i just add we were one minute from winning the match, im gonna stand up for boys here, cos i think they all want to win this year, Fev are a good side, and i think we will win. We lost a match in the last minute, prep wont have been good having had a one off like Toulouse, well be back though, we always are
The Alarm bell is wired up, but it aint ringing yet, it might be different if we dont win on Friday though, big big game..
Lets hang fire, and give them a chance.. If the end of the season doesn't prove fruitful, then we may have a point, we have a great team, remember.

| Having re-read the OP im still trying to work out why this thread is still going and the other isnt even though there is more valid points on the other. Any way i took a minute to work through the post.
Quote ="ClaireFAXFAN"We have a head coach who has publically come out and said we are the best team in the league'"
Last time i looked we were. The league table dosnt lie and all he is doing is stating what all opposition coaches acknowledge.
Quote ="ClaireFAXFAN"and supporters who are taking any opportunity they have to chant at the opposition how good we are, and how rubbish they are.'"
Thats sport.
Quote ="ClaireFAXFAN"Rumours are also circulating about the behaviour of individuals in Blackpool and Toulouse, which does not put out a very positive image of the club and IMO confirms the arrogant attitude that we are better than everyone else.'"
Wasnt individuals it was just about all. I say let them get smashed unless it effects thier performace which on Fridays performance at the end it suggested that it did. They are employed by the club and if off field activities are affecting on field performances then it becomes a problem. I feel playing with 16 players was more of a contributing factor though.
But bagging the players on here should see this thread locked apparently.
Quote ="ClaireFAXFAN"Yes, I am soooo happy we are top of the league, I have waited 24 years to see my team being successful, but having been through the cr@p, I and I'm sure others will agree, do not want to come across as being arrogant like Bradford and Leeds were a few years ago.'"
Why were/are the above teams disliked you have to ask yourself. Its because they are succesful. Its a British thing so im not sure being disliked is such a bad thing.
Quote ="ClaireFAXFAN"There is no need for anyone in our league to be like this, but unfortunately success will breed arrogance. I just hope we can stamp it out on the terraces and to a certain extent on the pitch.'"
Are our players playing with arrogance? Id say confidence but lets try to nip that in the bud straight away.
Quote ="ClaireFAXFAN"Throughout the entire game, there was no attempt to try and drag players into touch'"
No one attempted a torpedo kick either.
Quote ="ClaireFAXFAN"It was a massive game last night, and yet again we choked on the occasion.'"
Seriously? Did we choke? Get a grip. For whatever reason we were out on our feet. Add to that a fresh Fev who played very well.
Quote ="ClaireFAXFAN"We seem to lack that killer instinct which enables us to put a team to bed, Whitehaven in the NRC semi's a few years ago, Widnes in the play-offs, Widnes in the NRC, Whitehaven in the play-offs and Featherstone last night.'"
About the only valid point you make. Although only the Haven NRC and Fev game can really count. Which Widnes playoff game? Widnes in the NRC we were chasing for most of the game so putting it to bed is a bit harsh.
Quote ="ClaireFAXFAN"If we are going to win this league, which we are capable of doing, we need to start playing smart rugby at critical times. Going for 2 points when there is 15 minutes to go was one of the worst tactical decisions I have seen in a very long time.'"
The fact that you cant recognize the reason we went for goal totally infuriates me. I wonder what game people wacth sometimes. We have two players who asked to leave the field because they are knackered yet you want players who are out on their feet to carry on and not have a breather. Taking 2 didnt cost us the game any number of incidents cost us the game but this wasnt one of them.
Quote ="ClaireFAXFAN"Featherstone deserved the victory last night, they weren't the classier side, but they played simple rugby, got in our faces and wanted it more - tactics which at the momment, will beat us every week.'"
Didnt work for Toulouse.
About sums the original post up.
