| Very happy with that, adds stability and if there is to be a next step he is in as good a position as anybody to be able to take it.
Shows his commitment, something behind the scenes must be right for him to put pen to paper again.

| Fantastic news. Yes he's made mistakes but on the whole he's been a breath of fresh air and done an excellent job. Imagine he feels he's got something to prove again after this year's result, and his commitment brings some continued stability to the club. All about small but rapid steps to improve, rather than giant but ultimately unsustainable leaps. Think this'll really help recruitment efforts, he's just got to get the right players in this time
Well done BOD

| Was going to say there must be something good behind the scenes that he is happy with. I bet he hasn't been short of offers. Great consistency and a good up and coming coach showing commitment. All good. Now get recruiting for that top four next season. A bit of pace to work off Tanga's hit ups and Gaz Moores passing skills will be great

| Happy with that.Continuity and pleased to read that we still have some money left to invest similar amount for next season. Less is more for me. Smaller squad more quality. Agree re this season though. Let's try finish on a high.

| This is great news! For both Richard and the BOD. Thank you for your commitment and putting the money up to keep a great Young British coach at Halifax.
Coaches takes time to settle in accumulate the squad they want and start to produce the games/squad/ up coming players they want.
For me, this shows our BOD and coach and coaching staff all talk to each other and are striving for the same goal and (very importantly) support each other. UP THE FAX.

| Is it such a big announcement?
Where else is he going to go? Super League clubs not sniffing around him, other championship teams coaching static.
Irrespective of that I like the stability it brings to the club, next season will be a real test of his qualities.

| I've said , I rate RM this is good news for Fax , but believe me it won't be the last, the Championship needs a strong Fax side, whatever we at Leigh do next season,I think Fax could make an impact next year, but Cmon Fax fans your crowds do need to increase.

| He has made mistakes but that's how you get better by learning from your mistakes. I personally think he is one the best young coaches around and we will move forward from the disappointment of this season.

| For a professional results based club this is a poor decision; a contract extension should be the reward for excellent results. The club should have let his contract run its course when they can take a more reasoned and considered approach based on three seasons in charge. RM seems a good bloke but he has come up short this season so why reward the individual who under achieved (this season) with a further two year contract. By keeping him to his existing contract it would have least made him`hungry' to make it work next season. He is hardly irreplaceable (yet) so if another club comes for him so what!

| Have any of you wondered that it is possible the BoD are protecting an investment? Who knows what is around the corner, did any one think Rowley would up sticks ( poached) mid season? Football clubs do it all the time, and if something bigger / better is offered to R M at least Fax would be financially compensated.
I M H O this is a win win, yes R M needs to be more astute in recruitment, a stable coach will help bring better players knowing the club won't change jockeys mid stream.

Couldn't agree more. Despite having most of the lads that took us into the middle eights last year plus a number of additional recruits he failed to deliver. In my view this was due to poor selection decisions, and the inability to pick his best team and stick with it. He messed about with the team for the first half of the season and we have had some of our best players sat on the sidelines for months and that must have been massively demotivating for them and the whole team. For me he has just lacked the leadership skills required to build a winning team.
In my view he has a lot to learn about man management and I wouldn't have rewarded his poor performance this season with a new contract

You can't really argue against any of that and RM does need to learn from this season's mistakes but....where would we find anyone better than him at the moment? Like the team, the coaching staff don't need chopping and changing, stability and togetherness is called for at this time so let's all get behind the lads for the rest of this season and look forward to a big improvement next year. Up The Fax!

| Far from it, in the last 6-7 years this is the most ticked off I have been. I expected to build from last year, starting as we meant to go on. I don't feel we have done a thing other than put together a reserve side who seem to play hull every other week. We should have signed quality over quantity and dual registered with a decent SL club as back up ( even though I hate DR ) top 4 was a must as a fan. Backwards we will go again and then have to build the fans back up again. What's Matt Calland doing ?. Couldn't he come and help with some attacking flair coaching ?.
RM hasn't been able to all season.

| Now that the decision to keep RM for longer has been taken I expect a clear out or a fair turn over of players.
If a team goes backwards and the coach is thought not to be the cause then they must think it's the players, or at least some of them who haven't produced the goods.
