Worrying to see Swinton score 18 and us 28. Swinton are one of the weakest teams in the division and for them to score 18 is just poor from us. You cant just relay like that against the likes of Fev, Leigh, Dewsbury. We won, but I cant see us troubling the likes of Leigh, Fev and Sheffield for trophies or promotion.
Fev lost and will be fired up for next week, even more than usual. Leigh hit 50 against Batley and could have been more. Tough couple of games coming up now which could make or break our season depending how things go.

Was happy with things as Penny's try apart which was class I could not see them scoring as our defence was solid but their second try was poor on the line defence and their last try was from a lucky ricochet from a 'charge down' although was it six more???
We bombed 3 tries possibly 4 as yet again we don't seem to be able to put in the passes when needed they were too either too high or too fast! We dropped the ball at silly times too which cost us but our half backs looked better particularly Ben Johnson, Scott Murrell was not at the races today and we must improve our kicking game, too many down the full backs throats! Tyrer played well as did Tonka, we can do better the pitch was sticky and I don't think they deserved a bonus point but hey ho, onto next week which will be tough as Fev will be smarting from today.

Classic first game of the season for me. Looked rusty at times and a couple of our bigger lads looked to be blowing re fitness(Ambler's go forward and ability to spell with the others was definitely missed) Bombed some clear cut chances. Main thing is we created some!Looks a tough league this time with Leigh smashing Batley and Fev losing at Dewsbury.
Plenty to work on and these next 3 games are going to be crucial in Fax posting their intentions for the season.

18 points flatered Swinton, we tired late on, four bombed tries, the score could have been totally different.
I thought it was a very impressive showing, ball moved wing to wing, Reittie two ties and excellent forward play, Tonka, Ben Davies, and Andy Bracek, who to me is one of our unsung players.
For Swinton, three ex Fax players, Barlow, Nanyn and Bowman, Barlow won by a mile, 75 minutes on the pitch, nothing spectacular, but, tackled everybody, took the ball up nearly every time, well done Josh.
ps 20 Swinton supporters is more than Sheffield will bring.

Strange game, very rusty but maybe that is to be expected. Only the first game, but I was very impressed with our attack, that has to be the most breaks I've seen us make under Karl and I think that was due to committing to a more open attacking game with 4 playmakers on the field and we threw the ball around well. Defence, well decent until the last 15, needs a big improvement. Without the dropped balls (all 100 of them) I think we could have easily notched up 40-50 points.

I hope Swinton do well, they've got a good player in Bowman (I know not everyone will agree with that) but he tried his best today he just didn't get any real service. Anyway, onwards and upwards and more of that attacking rugby please Karl!

A tad more than 20 from Swinton, but sadly, however many they brought, they made more noise than the Fax fans.

A decent hit out, with a disappointing last 10 minutes or so when we seemed to go to sleep. We'll know where we are after next Sunday (behind Dewsbury if we lose)!

...and agree with DARE that, although not a lot came off today, we were willing to try some more inventive attacking options.

Pretty much as you guys have said, agree with HJ on Brachek, Tonks and Josh for Swinton.

Good start but after going a couple of scores up lost our way a bit with a couple of daft penalties and poor game control and it got scrappy for a while as a result.

Our close in kicking game got some results but the long kicking game was dissapointing.

Lee, some of us played the game long before grip balls were the norm, winter was the season we played & only trained a maximum of twice a week with a rugby ball used at the end of the session. No excuses acceptable i'm afraid. When i played hooker & when scrums were scrums, I used to handle the ball in the scrum more skillfully than some of these part time pro's handle it in open play !!!

Congratulations on the deserved win, you were the better side...no arguments there.

But you are doing Swinton a little disservice by failing to mention the gift of a try in the first half, granted from a very ambitious pass. You have also completely overlooked the try of the match which we scored from Kev Penny and which in itself was worthy of the very fair £15 entry fee.

I had 5 in my car so that amounted to a quarter of the Swinton following which I think even you have to agree is way off the mark and we have a picture taken of the gathering from behind the sticks which confirms there was certainly more than 20, but however few of us we certainly made more noise and showed a greater spirit in supporting our troops than Fax fans did you were very lacklustre indeed.

Like Fax that was only our second run out following a very traumatic close season and quite frankly to come to Fax and go away with the bonus point fills me with plenty of enthusiasm for the season ahead, not many teams will take a point and it's a big improvement on last season for us.

Timing was the biggest issue today and not understanding their fellow players positioning. The lads have even tweeted to the same effect.

Tyrer, Adamson and Fieldhouse have been abusing each other over the missed opportunities.

There was more than 20 Swinton fans(some in east stand) good luck for rest of season.
I won't criticise away support until we get our missing 000s back.

Swinton fans should take credit from yesterday, out sang us Halifax fans all day & supported there side all game, I was shocked how flat it seemed behind the posts.

Although we did bomb four or five trys for forcing silly passes, the only positive you can take from it, is that we are at least creating those chances in the first place. The errors, penalities and trying to score every time we have the ball must be something Rhino will work on this week.

I thought we lacked a bit of go forward, which will be sorted with Ambler & Manning back.

Barlow was quality for Swinton, nothing special but a workhorse for 75mins. Well done Josh. Probably the best player on the pitch in my view.

Agree with others about it been very flat yesterday. It were one of those games where you never felt we would lose and that seemed to reflect in the lack of atmosphere. It almost seems the last couple of seasons style of rugby is coinciding with the atmosphere getting worse.

Good run out. Player combinations a bit rusty. Ben Johnston looks a exciting player with pace.

Ben Johnston was definitely the most impressive player for me yesterday, he looks to have a monster of a step as well.
