A disgrace. Over the last decade there have been numerous heartland, original rugby league clubs that have gone to the wall, usually for bad finacial decisions. But this time Celtic go to thewall because of a bad RFL decision so they bail them out.
Seriously, a good sport/business lawyer for those clubs could take RFL to the cleaners.

They are not bailing them out with any money from the RFL coffers they are helping them find new investment from external sources.

In that case its ok? So celtic don't need to employ development personnel, the RFL will do it for them? Doncaster are struggling to filed 13 players, and as yet I am yet to see the RFL comein and helpl them, no, the RFL leave that to the rugby league clubs that care about tradition and heritage to help out these clubs!!!

If Celtic asked other RL clubs to collect monet at games for them to stay afloat, how would they do?

Whatever any of us think , we as a sport need Celtic to survive , so for me the RFL should chip in with funds to keep them afloat

However that money should come from the other SL clubs via the SKY money

I never said it was OK. The trouble is whenever there is a story about Celtic people jump on the bandwaggon and start making claims such as the RFL bailing them out (as with this thread) when that is not the case at all so if we are going to b!tch about Celtic then we need to get facts straight before sweeping remarks.

Reading the statement from the RFL it seems that the scheme the RFL are running with Celtic such as trying to find other investments is an option that all clubs have access to and have taken up. Am sure this would be open to clubs outside SL and am sure the RFL are working alongside Donny to help (such as our coaches to our away game there) to try ease their burden.

Would anyone complain if the RFL bailed out Donny? No, because people see them as a traditional club, yet if the RFL bailed out Celtic all hell would break loose (I.e. London a while ago).

Somehow they will keep going but I have always hoped the whole thing fails miserably.

They might have had more people through the gates if they'd won more which might have happened if they hadn't employed a load of Aussies and gotten some sort of pre-season.

I know a few on here who do by the posts. The thing about this is, the money spent on this venture should , IMO and others come out of the SL teams budget NOT the RFL. If that were to happen they would certainly get the boot put in on all their forums by their fans instead of them all sticking up for the Celts. After all thet (SL) wanted them in so IMO it's them who should bail them out NOT the lower divisions.

WE all have to move on. But we do'nt have to be gagged, or brain washed into thinking what's going on is right.

One other point on this Rich.. at the time the RL chairmen were asked to vote on this matter to ratify the fact that no punishment would be dished out to London Broncos.. anyone that voted against would force matter to be looked at in more depth..

Tony Chambers, our Chairman at the time was obviously well against this as London had overspent massively on recruiting quite a number of our targets that had been set for Naughton Park before being enticed down to the smoke for bigger sums of money.

He told us that he had been 'heavily' lent on, threatened even, by Richard Lewis to vote for no punishment.. Lewis also promised us a reprieve from relegation the year that Catalan were introduced... an ace up our sleeve!!
Tony did not vote for or against but abstained.. we were relegated anyway.

That's not like the RFL. Is it?????? When the new chairman of them , at that time, gave a club statement the day after. He said and I quote, "this is the first time in 30 years this club has been in the black. I wonder if they still are ???

Regret I am a traditionalist and do not agree with the carry on with the Welsh team at the expense of true Rugby League teams. Or for that matter England playing the first test in Cardiff and breaking the great tradition of the opening test at Lords HQ which I have been fortunate to be able to attend on a couple of occasions.

It didn't come across as humerous it came across as a dig.

Talking of cricket, the last time England won an opening day ashes match was 1997. At Edgebaston. The rest since have been at Lords and lost.
