Good idea getting rid of Marshall

Jensen, the way Fax have been playing was the reason I tipped Barrow,and looking at your next few fixtures Bradford and Toronto away , and Fev and Widnes at the Shay it doesn’t look good,after that what should be a win at Dews it’s realistic your next win could be at home to Rochdale on 1st Sept.
I’m not sure about the remedy,I think Grix as Coach was a mistake, maybe RM should have been given till the end of the season,it wouldn’t have mattered keeping him on.
The Bradford fans are saying your game at Bradford next week , will hopefully kick start their season, so they will be up the game.
The silver ligning for Fax will be the Cup receipts hope make a few quid for players next year, for me your a League season is over.

Seriously though its probably time now to offload some players if possible and try and save some cash for next season and try and blood some of the younger lads in the hope that 1 or 2 of them could add something next year. Luckily for us we will make more from the cup run than we would have for making the top 5 so we should be able to start planning for next season very early.

Well, this is a new, new low. That as unacceptable. I know the Championship is more competitive but not across the board, Barrow have won twice all year and routinely ship points. Only time will tell with Grix but I do not understand the rational in his appointment, let alone a near three year contract. He was / is part of the playing group that has been for the most part underperforming this year and it is pretty evident that as of now he doesn't have the capabilities to change the playing culture. 2 wins against Bradford who are as bad as us is just a mask. As I have said before, if Grix was going to be appointed, he needed an experienced assistant / football director but he has neither. Playing experience and coaching experience are vastly different and he needs to learn his craft as an assistant first for several seasons but he is for all intents and purposes learning on the job in a results based environment. Maybe its too early to judge his progress right now but it seems as though we are just as inconsistent, making the same errors and being as defensively fragile as ever. Perhaps I should judge the guy when he has had a chance to build his own team and make the changes to the squad he deems necessary but for me, the team we have is more than good enough.

John Kear sounds as frustrated at Bradford over their inconsistency and he is a proven good coach. Maybe the Grix appointment was a bit too quick? Maybe he just needs more time to stamp his own authority and way of working on the players and bring in his own men?

We won't be able to fairly judge SG until well into next season. I would personally have brought a coach in with no Fax connections and not a forward. As for yesterday, I was always taught That if you can't say owt good about anybody/anything it's better to say nowt......

Agreeing with you there. An objective coaching view would have been beneficial, especially after transitioning from a guy who spent nearly 5 years here.

Did warn about the merits of a long contract for this appointment....if yesterday's debacle was the only response SG could get from an unacceptable performance the week before,then the motivational aspect of his coaching is clearly lacking already.

I don’t know about Fax and the game yesterday, but maybe you do Barrow a bit of an injustice, they are always a tough team to beat at home,last season they beat Leigh at Barrow,and for me that defeat cost us dearly .
Fax have been struggling for a while now, you have beaten a poor Bradford side twice,Bradford for me are very similar to Fax at the moment, a not very mobile side,the last 20 yesterday we took them apart.Your game with them on Sunday will be very interesting,talking to Bradford fans after the game, they still feel the top 5 is within their reach , but a win against Fax is a MUST, I haven’t seen their remaking fixtures, but for Fax things look bleak.I hope you had a good week end in Cumbria otherwise.

Were still in Lancashire Ian, going up to Cumberland later today. Not taking owt away from Barrow, they were far and away the better team. The shocking thing about yesterday was the players attitude, some just didn't look interested and that is unacceptable. Anyroad, off up to The Lakes today and a visit to Hawkshead Brewery Tap. Rugby can take a back seat. Up The Fax!

All I'll say is if they don't buck their ideas up fast kiss goodbye to the top 5 - next four games are big in terms of the end of the season for me - Fax are capable of winning 3/4 of these games - personally think the Semi against St Helens is our remaining season highlight now....

i'd have to agree about the Semis being our highlight now. We've always managed to stay in and around the pack because we could beat those below us and aim to pick off 1 or 2 above, it worked. The losses to Batley & Barrow have nailed the coffin for me this year. Unless there is a complete turnaround, its just too far out of reach for us. i cant see us beating anyone other than Bradford in the teams above us and that's being very optimistic.

one of Grix or QLT needs dropping, i simply do NOT understand either of them being at half back. You have an absolute star in the making in JWH and he hasn't put a foot wrong in my opinion this year when at half back so it boggles to put him at centre or on the bench.

i think Simon Grix will come good personally, could well be wrong but i dont think he's the issue.

If we learned anything from yesterday at all it was JWH is not a centre.

I am only guessing here, but we are at that time of year where clubs will be offering new contracts for next season. In the past few years, the majority of our squad has been retained and therefore have stuck together as a group. Maybe this year, quite a few of the squad have already been told they won’t be offered a deal or they don’t expect to stay and this could be impacting on our performances

Good point.Contract negotiations should not be allowed until season end but i accept those days are long gone.

I don't do social media but my partner showed me a post by Rob Pidgeon & I totally agree with him it takes me a fair bit of time/effort & commitment +Finance to support the Team at the very least I expect the same from them

I can understand why the timings have moved for player welfare reasons and to rightly give them some assurances and certainty of employment/earnings. But it is bound to have an impact on performances for your current employer should you know you won’t be with them or are not wanted by them for the following season. I am not saying the players won’t be trying, but this is a tough sport where just a marginal drop in focus/desire will have an impact.

Agree with you that if there is anyone clearly not putting a shift in then out you go and let someone else have a chance. I’m not sure they are coasting though and I’m sure they go out on the pitch with best intentions. But as well as the obvious physicality of the game, there’s the psychological element. Without really realising some players might not be 100% on it.

I think that's a solid point. In the NRL, some guys have contracts signed with other clubs for the subsequent season before a ball has been kicked. On the opposite extreme, they also offer out 10 years deals like the Cowboys did Taumalolo and Bulldogs are trying to do with Latrell Mitchell. Be intrigued to see who goes but we need a strike centre, 2-3 new props and potentially brand new 6 and 7.

Yes, it must be disappointing to be told you are not required, Don't know about you guys but it has happened to me. The opportunity the players have is they can put them selves in the shop window for potential employers, therefore making it negative to not try their best. On the other side, players who have secured employment away from the club have no reason to try, but are supposed superstars, and those who have yet to be offered a contract, should not they be busting a gut to earn one for next year? so all in all the team should be firing on all cylinders, not a downward slide.

Anyone watching Jordan Abdull last night dispelled the lack of professionalism in certain players.
MOM against HKR -who he's rejoining next season-could even relegate them and nullify his contract.
