| Robbo was injured don't know about Johnson.
Great display especially from the forwards.
Bit harsh to criticise Place yet, he will never have played in conditions like those in his whole life. Give him time, as he said after the game "we will get there"
As regular readers will know I like and rate Sam but very disappointed with him today. As soon as he came on he went for Dane, half heartedly, it looked as though he was saying I tried to do him but missed.
As for Charlie's friend Fui Fui, no disrespect but he looked more like Winnie the Pui Pui. Should have had a yellow for that head high dive but apart from that did nothing.
"A fat Frank Frank Watene"
"Your just a fat Frank Watene"
To be honest their that last try flattered them, Leigh were blowing and I would respectfully suggest that if they are full time they get a new fitness conditioner
Need to keep our heads on at times, we kicked through Richard Moore chased and looked not infront but to his right and sidestepped into Pownall. Would have been a tackle five yards from their line and it became a penalty.
Having said that great game Richard.
Incidentally Pownall is your choreographer the same as Sams? You don't need to lay down for an eternity, yes we know you've been fouled, now get up you tart.
Mind you at least Leigh haven't anounced a fractured skull. Yet.
Finally Luke, great game and instrumental in getting the players to come to the touch line infront of the new scratching shed at the end.
Well done to him and well done to the team.
At least we got a bonus point.

| Thought our forwards really stood out today. Ambler is immense and shows that we can compete with FT players. Fui Fui Moi Moi was ineffective and I bet Sam is glad as he's not the fattest in the team. Miles looks good at full back and I think with time, we should be up there at the end of the season. Well played lads.

| A big result for us from a massive test. Your line speed in the second half was unreal, though I think Leyth can take pride from only conceding a try off our own mistake considering the territory and possession you had.
No doubting whatsoever about the sin bin. Could see it being lined up as soon as Barlow came in to the line and it really was a late and high shot. Shame about Barlow's reaction but in fairness you can't really blame him when on the receiving end in such a manner.
Not sure where you think Moimoi is a pudding considering he didn't lose any ground on any tackle all afternoon and continued a decent speed of PTB despite the conditions. Consider how many players he attracts in each and every tackle and the space it creates and then think about his value to the team.
Fax will certainly be in the mix - your games against Fev, London, Sheffield, Dewsbury, Batley and the like will be ones to savour I'm sure, and if you continue the backing you had today and the pressure it puts on the opposition and match officials alike then you could pick up some vital points at home.

| Mitch's hit on Barlow wasn't high, but it was late and cheap. Automatic yellow. Murrell received the same treatment earlier but got nothing. Perhaps because he isn't a melodramatic tart like Halifax's own Sam Barlow
Such foul play on Barlow should result in impunity for the perp. Or a medal
Think we had the measure of Fufi today. He does attract defenders. He probably enjoyed today's game
Good game

| Leigh never looked worried and fax would have been nilled but for Pownall gifting you a try. All in all an easy win in game that in reality was always going to level the teams with the conditions they played in. Was expecting fireworks from Manning but not sure if he made the squad.

| Quote ="justthebasicfax"Seen enough to be optimistic for a good season
Greenwood and Ambler were outstanding in the conditions. Saltonstall looks promising too.
Some of the other forwards really fronted up in the second half.
I'm going to try and give a couple of the other the players the benefit of the doubt but I don't expect to see a couple of them playing next week.
Was that Charlie with Andy Gregory!!?
Over here we move our legs when fellow spectators try to get past
'"
Well I was with Andy Gregory but don't remember blocking anyone's path , you should have introduced you self ,as 3 other Fax fans did.
As for the game?I thought Fax played Ok that's all you scored a lucky try from a crazy pass in front of the Leigh posts , to be honest I couldn't see you scoring otherwise, your Pack did Ok but the conditions favoured Fax , we also lost BOTH our centres to injury,I think on a hard dry pitch it would be Goodnight Irene for Fax.
Anyway as I predicted you would lose top spot, which happened, you have had your moment of Fame last week, look where Haven are in the League, also your resident Rugby expert GFB predicted the Mighty Leythers would be bottom after 3 games , watch this space.
On a positive note for Fax , the Hospitality was very good, Soup very nice and a very good Yorkie Pudding and Roast Beef.As Halifaxjohn so rightly says at least you received a Bonus Point you will receive a few more yet, still l wasn't far off with my prediction of a 10 point win for the Mighty Leythers. It's not that long till the 10th May.

| Love the reaction from the Fax fans, our pack missed Sarsfield, Spencer, Acton, Aspinwall & Dixon and yet we continued to roll down field through your middle unit.
Our backs played like it was mid-july, Fui just kept coming and finding his front as did the rest of the forwards and Riddy kicked Fax to death, I have to say Fax looked like they wouldn't have scored in a brothel with a suitcase full of tenners!!

| Well, first game in two years and thoroughly enjoyed it. Conditions were like watching a game in the 70s/80s. Kept expecting Brendan Hill to come off the bench!
As for the team, great defensive effort and great fitness to keep going against a full time team. I actually thought we looked the sharper towards the back end of the game. In attack, too few options, suspect kicking at times and too many errors. However, we all need to remember they are a new team and it was clear to see they are still getting used to each other. As the season progresses I think a few teams will get a thumping from Fax as the plays gel and I honestly believe they will be in the mix barring unforeseen disasters (like HKR players on the teamsheet ).
Leigh deserved the win but only just and their scrum half really dictated play at times. Winger Kay, very quick and good foresight for some poor positional play by our winger and fullback at times. Still, strong performance from Fax. As for the ref keeping Fax in the game, seriously!! It will be interesting to see he penalty count. Laying on in the tackle to slow play down was infuriating and high shots galore. FuiFui who is a Parra legend of mine was lucky to stay on the pitch, so just be thankful the ref was wearing red rose tinted specs. He has piled on a few pounds since last season at Parra though, must be all that lobby he is eating.
Anyway, enjoyed the day despite not getting into the Three Pigeons due to a six deep, heaving mass of Leigh fans at the bar (scary, nightmare inducing sight and strange aroma ) and having to go to the Railway instead, where the beer incidentally is fantastic. Jokes aside, Leigh fans created a good atmosphere, something sadly missing from many games so good onya. Next game probably in a couple of years when hopefully we will be giving Wigan a tupping!

| Happy with that today from our lads a good effort in terrible conditions which I think probably suited us more than them lets be honest they have a good backline. Our forwards matched their pack and once again in the last 15 minutes on a heavy pitch we still had something in the tank to keep going. Some of our backs did well but our half backs disappointed, our kicking game was very poor too many down the throat of their fullback or centre and lacked creativity.
Leigh are a good side but like many winning sides they don't like it when teams get one over them like that great tackle to put one of their players on his backside they flew in and whined at the ref who accepted it was a 'good hit' and let us play on, eventually.

Yer you looked the better team with more creativity but easy win, really 12-6 until the 85th minute!
Conditions did play a part, like your two 'slide in tries'!
Manning just played like he always does, that one incident against that tart Barlow who milked it for all it was worth does not make him an animal.
yer you will be top 2 no doubt about it but give us some credit we gave you a tough game plus we missed our most creative player in Ben Johnson and Adam Robinson who has been playing really well.

I did give you credit on a previous post, yes it was a tough game but I stand by my thoughts on the win (OK not easy if I said that) but it was comfy and tbh you didn't bother us if you ever got within 20 meters. I must admit I missed most of the action in the first half, my eyes are not to bad but seeing that we were camping on your try line they were straining a bit at times. At half time I predicted a whitewash and another 20 for us. However you showed great spirit and that will set you up good for the rest of the season. Thought the new coach did good and from what I've heard from him he has a bright future with you. I think you'll be up there in the running (I hope so) and we'll have a few slip up's along the way also.

| Thought Leigh looked just that bit more organised and composed and patient. It felt like a Fax V Wigan game from the eighties. "We might just do these today but alas no, just not quite good enough".
I think on dry ground it would have been a much wider margin. But we didn't capitulate. The Harrison team would have folded on 60 minutes and let three more tries in. Fantastic effort.
Leigh's back line is immense. Barlow is a cock. Fooey Mop Mop is a good go forward mess-up your front row kinda player. He's a handful and although he might not have bouffanted his way round the try line today he does create a bit of mayhem which disorientates opponents.
I think Leigh will top this league and it will be a real battle for 2-4 from the rest.

| First up, let me stress that I wasn't at the game today. However reading the posts on here & on the Centurions page I am looking forward to seeing it on Centurions TV.
Regards Fui Fui Moi Moi, in the un- friendly against Wigan he was lacking fitness, yet we were worthy winners even with their 9 SL Grand Final stars playing.
Against Bradford he was awesome & tore them to bits with very strong runs carrying 3 & 4 of their players at a time.
I am sure as the season progresses he will just get better & better.
Personally I really look forward to Fax games, both sets of fans are always up for it & I will never forget the great Craic we had with your fans in Blackpool.
FWIW & you can dismiss this if you like, I predict Bradford will top the Division with Leigh 2nd, Halifax 3rd & Fev 4th placed.
I saw enough in the 1st half against Bradford to be convinced that they will annihilate some teams.
This season will be much closer than last & no team will go without at least 3 or 4 losses.
See you all in Leigh for the return match & expect a crowd of around 5,000 for that one (if we are playing well), good luck.

| Enjoyed the whole experience and the craic, pity about the weather, the mud, and the referee, but on the day the best team won.
I was once again impressed with kaye and Ambler - can we DR them?
It was good to catch up with Scotty after the match and thanks to Dave, John and their friends in the East Stand for their sparkling wit and repartee.
My MotM was Leigh’s full back, the cut-out pass to the winger for their 2nd try was worth the admission alone.
IMO Fax need a bit more speed in the half backs, Matty Marsh is available under DR, he also has a good kicking game.

| For what it's worth, I think 'Fax will be a much better team, for their change of coach, especially when the new guys gel. I was very impressed with your fitness levels, and yes, your forwards did appear stronger than ours for most of the second 40. (despite all the swimming practice our guys have been putting in! ) Despite all the pressure, you didn't look much like scoring although, to be fair, you kept us out well for most of the game too. Once again, it was a very close game, with us probably just shading it - both last season's games were very close too.
Despite the awful playing (and watching!) conditions, I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon at 'Fax in the company of friendly and knowledgeable folk in the main stand. Looking forward to another close game at ours - even if it is warm and dry.

| A game of two halves. Leigh looking like a full time team in't first and Fax shading the second. Our forwards were very good, our half-backs not so much. Why are we persisting with Scott at six? Instead of being a main player for us he is almost a liability slowing the play down. All in all though a lot to look forward to and roll on Batley next week.
