That's what years and years of inferiority does to you.
It's why we talk a lot about SL clubs on here

| Quote ="littlerich"I've just had a look on their forum. I LOVE the backslapping when the rent thing was put up. "Well done Steve"! is the common post. I have to say - it's an unhealthy obsession they have. They need to get out more. How are they going to react when the council sell the Shay? That said - putting these mongrels and intellectually challenged eejits to one side - I think both clubs would do well to join together and go forward together in a shared stadium. It's in both parties interests despite what the forum knuckle draggers think. Step back - take the emotion out of it and bring some common sense to the situation.
By the way - to the lamebrain Town fan - the head in the sand photo? - we get it. You may have to post something like that 20 times on your own forum to get the message across but on here, we get it. This isn't just any old Shay Forum; this is Halifax Fans RL forum - a class above.
You're welcome.'"
I agree with you over this debacle about the two clubs joining together and for the life in me I cannot understand the Town fans .But saying all that, the ones I blame are the Towns Board their silence over all this is deafening ,except to do a bit of grumbleing re` not knowing anything about it.Why don`t they come out and say they are either for it and they are prepared to work with TA .Or they are against it and don`t want anything to do with cheaper rents etc.At the end of the day the Town fans appear to want the stadium to be council owned and the Council will not tolerate the Shay being run at a loss any more especialy as a fraction of ratepayers use the place, so they will sell it to someone . So all the ones who have been crowing about Bubba & co having a "community facility 6 month stay "on the place so they have chance to get some money together better have deep pockets `cos someone will be buying it .

And yet you still keep posting about it. I find it strange for a bunch of numpties that dont have any interest in a sport, keep posting on their own forum about it.
Obsessed arent you? Its ok you can admit it, its the first step to recovery.

Maybe you would care to explain........
I get we likely owe rent, I also get where that amount comes from, thats not rocket science and has been widely reported.
The money we owe in the accounts is directors loans from what can be made out. That will not be unusual for any sporting club I would think. By the looks of it we traded at a small profit as well last year which is obviously a break from the norm for the majority of RL clubs.
If there is something Im missing please explain though because the demise of Halifax RLFC is probably not happening anytime soon with the people that are currently involved. Sorry to burst your bubble though.

Well we could always reform and become, debt free, reduced rent, and then become obsessed with the longest remaining tennants of the Shay. Oh hang on...thats what FC Halifax Town have done...sorry im getting my wires crossed.
You may want to save all your efforts for rounding up money when you dont hit the break even figure this year.

Well there is something missing here and that is the amount some Town fans and Councilors seem to think the Shay is worth, the price goes up daily and they feel the Shay is being sold off too cheap and Councilors want back the £5 million they reckon they have put into the place since taking it back from the SST..Well I`m no commerce whizz kid but I can see this.. If I bought a building and decided to put a few million into it ,it would only be worth the same or a little more as the same looking building next door .Your house is not worth whatever you have put into it it`s worth what someones prepared to pay for it surely ?

| It is worth more than the debt-ridden Rugby Club can afford. If the Rugby Club think they can get around that by trying to purchase it through a company registered in one of the directors names they will find themselves legally challenged.

The legal challenge should be quite entertaining.
I have heard about the friendly Rugby game arranged against the police force as part of the opening event when Reactiv takes over as well, get yourself down it should be good.

| Who's making the legal challenge? These matters aren't cheap, so who's putting the money up for it?
Likewise, who's going to be making the demands than councillors resign, I asked something similar on the locked thread but don't think I got an answer?
If this is as bigger deal as some people make out, the courier will have to draft in extra reporters to keep up!

Er for the hundredth time it is NOT Halifax RLFC who are looking at buying the Shay it is Reactiv Group who are looking to develop the east Stand corner for offices and around 100 jobs but don't let that bother you, you keep your anti HRLFC specs on.

| Why do you all respond to him?
Ignore him, littlerich gave the best repost yet.
Personally I couldn't give a flying whether we owe rent or not.
With the board behind us we have a very good future, lighten up Faxfans.
Can any sports club in the world say they don't owe money?
Check out Barcelona FC's debt.
Don't forget the poor woman who walked into the mighty Halifax with a ten pound note in each ear, the cashier called the manager and said, "there's a woman at my till who says she's £20 in arrears and that's all she can pay"
Old and not funny? just like the Town fans claptrap.

| It does have a nice ring to it, but I'd genuinely prefer to refer to it as the home of sport in Halifax.
I used to follow both teams in the past, but getting hitched and having kids meant I had to make a choice. I chose Fax, but I still follow the results of our local footie team (who have done incredibly well over the last few years) and wish them well.
The animosity (and large chunks of misinformation and conjecture) is, to be honest, really childish and immature.
Good luck to both clubs. In the end, this is "just" a game that's played by talented players on a (manicured) field.

| I still fail to understand as to why its become a hate campaign from the Football club's followers (not the club themselves, they've been relatively quiet, at least in the press) against the Rugby Club.
If the directors of FCHT were in a position to buy The Shay from the council, I doubt many Rugby Fans would begrudge the football buying the place back. But its been a council owned property for a generation. Its not the football clubs to sell and as tenants they have little say in the matter.
One of the reason's been given against Tony Abbott buying The Shay through Reactiv Media is that if Reactiv was to go under, The Shay could be sold to the highest bidder. Has everyone forgotten that when Abbott brought his shares in Fax he did so through the same company? No one was worried about that?

The thing that worries me, Brew, is the direction in which FCHT fans are going. They keep stressing that Reactiv are trying to buy the Shay on the cheap. What they don't seem to realise is that the Shay has 2 values:
1. As a stadium with a stipulation that it can only be used for sport.
2. As a piece of land with no restrictions.
The latter obviously carries a far higher value and, if the council are determined to unload it I would much rather they sold it to Reactiv under option 1 but the FCHT fans, in their hatred of all things Fax, will end up with option 2 and then both clubs will be stuffed.

The resentment has been around from when Fax first moved to the Shay from Thrum Hall.
It's their ground and no one else should be allowed anywhere near it.
The Fact that allthough they try and belittle everything that Fax do the RL club is seen as a threat achievement wise or the bigger of the two clubs and they have little man syndrome.
The Town fans on the one hand claim it is a community assett but don't want anyone outside their community involved in it, as long as the tax payer picks up the tab, no problem.
In that sense anyone involved in the Shay is in debt to the other tax paying public of Halifax every year and you don't have to apply the freedom of information act to find that out.
They go on about the alledged debt of The rugby club but if Fax were not at the Shay the £200.000 grand that has been mentioned that it costs to keep it open would still apply and the shortfall would be even greater because it would only be less what FC Town pay in rent with the rest payed for by the tax payer that they don't want in the ground unless you follow football.
