The Shay is more than fit for purpose. Biggest ground in non-league football and I believe it hosted the NR Cup final this year as well as the Rugby World Cup and the possibilty for and England C game there.

Which stands are they? Skircoat has been up almost 90 years, just needs a lick of paint. North Stand has been re-developed, nothing wrong with the South Stand and East Stand. The only thing unfinished is the South-East corner, something that Tony was in discussions with the council to purchase and put his offices into. I'd have no qualms if he did so.

Town fans are quite happy the way things are, as the boys in blue are representing the town brilliantly in a strong league, and there is plenty to look forward to via INCREMENTAL growth.'"
Once again the narrowminded luddites are missing the point. Please read properly and get the point we are making. The Shay in its current state is not a welcoming place for many people except for a couple of thousand people who watch fax/Town. Its not going to get any better because the Council doesnt have the money or the right people to make things better. For the Stadium to improve and be a Community stadium meaning more people other than football and rugby fans using it then massive investment and changes in management is needed. For either Sports Club to grow commercially, the facilities need to be upgraded. Current and potential new Sponsors, as well as many fans expect modern facilities like what Stadiums at Burnley, Huddersfield etc offer that The Shay doesnt.
The Skircoat Stand has toilets which are in a shocking state, holes in the roof and very old seating. A lick of paint is not sorting them issues out. Its a matter of time before the capacity is reduced and eventually the Stand condemned due to health and safety issues. The North Stand already has its capacity reduced and without investment will stay that way. You clowns that think The Shay is OK as it is clearly do not understand the need of what The Shay needs. for the Stadium to become a community Stadium things need to change and its something the Council cant afford to do. I fail to understand how backward thinking people are regarding The Shay. There is a saying "Stand still and you will get left behind". Well Halifax has been standing still for decades and other towns have passed us by and Halifax is a backwater.

The seat in the Skircoat are less than 15 years old, can't comment on the roof but the toilets have improved. Just ask the Grimsby and Wrexham fans who visited this season. The capacity of the North Stand was not reduced because of Health and Safety on the stand, simply the lack of toilets which has now been addressed. The town is far from a backwater, look at Rochdale if you want to know hat a backwater is like. The Broad Street Plaza and the train station have been hanged drastically over the last 5 years. I'm not quite sure what you want from the town? The Shay already has a cafe, and there are already a ridiculous number of gyms in the town centre.

That's not how accounting losses work. If someone doesn't pay rent that's a balance sheet issue, not a profit & loss one. How much of your other guesses are incorrect?

Incorrect. If someone is renting a facility the money they pay goes towards the money made on the facility.
If it costs the council 5k for the running costs of a house, and over the course of the year the tenants don't pay the rent that is a 5 loss. If they pay 6k rent that is a 1k profit.
And I thought it was the football who were simpletons.

| Oh dear yet again more me, me , me quotes , sorry it isn`t just about the football or rugby it`s about creating a place that more ratepayers of Calderdale (yes there are around 200,000 of them ) who all subsidise Halifax rugby and football to play there . People who deserve nice facilities and can use the stadium for say pop concerts , creche `cos the council want rid of Sure Start and anything else that might work . You are asking the people of Calderdale to subsidise the place when they can`t even use it . I know people whose kids were refused the right to play on the Shay when they got to a final ,their parents were wondering why it`s run like some private gentlemans club.

That's a load of crap. A P & L will show rental income. If someone doesn't pay that rental income it stays on the BALANCE SHEET under debtors. You clearly don't understand how financial accounts work.

So all 200,000 people in Calderdale are rate payers? There is nothing stopping the people of Calderdale coming along to support the local sides, infact I'd more than welcome them with open arms. Just because you pay rates towards something you don't get to free roam around it, that is not how it works.
And I'm sure you full well know why the Shay could not be used for the cup finals. The pitch issue was being resolved in order to get it done to allow the Rugby club to finish their season and the football to start theirs.

Another clueless luddite. The Shay does makes a big loss for a COuncil that has no money and has had to cut vital services to the local community. North Bridge and Swimming Baths are venues that offer a wide range of Sports and commercial opportunities to the Community. North Bridge also has hosted things like Exhibitions, Antiques road Show, Boxing matches shown Live on TV as well as a good number watching live. The Swimming baths offer the chance to get Kids learning to swim and some cases saving lives. You cant put a price on that. I would bet more people in Calderdale have been to North Bridge and the Swimming Baths in the past year than have been to the Shay. The Victoria Theatre is used by a large number of people watching various things from Pantomimes to Music Concerts to Comedians. Again I would say a far larger number of people have been to the Victoria Theater this past year than have visited the Shay. The Library again offers far more to the local community than The Shay. Important local records are held here as well as offering Children the chance to improve their reading. It amazes me how stupid and dumb the football fans are when saying The Shay is more important, than a venue that helps children or is more widely used by offering far more to the public than just football and Rugby. Instead of just thinking of yourself look at what a service like the Theatre or North Bridge offer and the range of events they put on for people.

| Would need to know if they've used cash accounting or accruals accounting. Using that table, if it's cash accounting then the P&L as you described is accurate. If it's accruals accounting your statement is incorrect.

And therein lies the solution. It fit for purpose, but under council hands that will slowly diminish as cuts and more cuts continue to hit. The council will only continue to maintain the two sides that open regularly for both clubs and the stadium will soon be unavailable for anything but the regular football and rugby games.
The only way to maintain and improve is in private hands.

It is the clubs decision to open as many stands as they feel fit. For Football we open the South Stand and East Stand, giving Section A to away fans. If the visiting side are expecting to bring more than 200 we put them in the Skircoat.

On hunger hill, believe it or not it is called "The Shay Cafe". And as a member of one of the four gyms withing walking distance of the centre of town I can confirm the existing gyms are never full. Believe it or not there is such a thin as having friends, and my friends are at other gyms and they aren't full either. This smacks of the proposed addition of a bowling alley at Broad Street. Not needed.
And I believe Bubba already has an account on here? not sure why he'd need another. I suggest you google Super Geoffrey Horsfield.

You are completely missing the point and either were not at the meeting or, like most of the FCHT fans present, did not do Mr. Abbott the courtesy of listening to him. The point of opening a cafe, gym and creche was primarily to cater for the 350 people who would be working at the Shay should his plans come to fruition. This in turn would plough money back into the Shay which, in case you missed this as well, would be run by a totally new company seperate from Reactiv Media with any profits going back into the Shay to eventually make it self-financing.
