Cheers guys and friendlies are just for experimenting.I am impressed with the way Widnes are performing, and i think we will be a better team this year under Betts.Some of our youngsters are doing very well, and i can not wait for the season to start.Fax,Barrow,Fev,Leigh and Widnes should be in the top 5.Not saying the postions yet.

For a friendly game, this was the best I've seen for a while, maybe ever. Disappointing to lose in the last few seconds of the game, but Fax showed that they'll continue to be a top team in this league in 2011.

I have to agree with you there, I thought it was one of the best friendly I have seen. I thought Barlow was excellent, white was good, penky was his usual (great player), greenwood was solid and Fieldhouse looked so much better than last week. I am really looking forward to the competitive games to come along.

Ok, if you say they aren't then I stand corrected. However that still leaves 12 who are, which is 12 more than we had.

I know that it wasn't a full squad that you put out, but I am still happy that the level of the competition we faced was strong enough for us to believe that we did a good job out there today. Something that was reiterated by the KR fans sat around us.

If you're refering to Cox's try, they show that. On first glance, it seemed ok to me. I did noticed that we score from what seemed to be a forward pass by Bell on one of the other tries though. From memory, they don't show Barlows dissallowed try.

How can that not be given? Very poor call by the Ref - at the game the TJ ran to the back corner like they do when its a good score.

It is indeed Sam's try but it is not the disallowed one.

Probably ignored the TJ as he is a local ref from Halifax.

It may not have been a full strength Hull KR team but we had key players missing too Black, Nash and Beswick to name just 3 and we had trialists on the pitch also.

I thought it was a cracking game between 2 evenly matched teams on the day. Our youngsters will have benefitted greatly from testing themselves against the best team in the Championship. This was a huge step up from playing under 18s and 20s rugby.
I'm sure that Calland will have seen the benefit of your charges locking horns with some of the experienced Super League players that took to the field for us.
The result really didnt matter and i'm sure that the players involved are now better prepared for the seasons start as a result of the game.

RBA. I think thats a fair reflection of the day. You are right the result is pretty meaningless (we would have liked to win though

) and it was a really good hit out for both sides. These games are traditionally used to look at players, try different moves (which dont always work) and just generally get a really good training session with full contact. I think we ticked the boxes on all those.

Just cant wait for the season to start proper.

Regardless of the strength of the 2 teams, it was a full bloodied friendly that will only have benefitted both sides in terms of preparation for the season ahead. Yes, it would have been nice to win, but we can't have everything. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a friendly so much, and the performance bodes well for the season ahead - where's the Fax defence come from all of a sudden?

Good luck to Hull KR for the season ahead too.
