If we cut out the brain farts we are up there and pushing the top sides even though they mainly tend to be full time. London is now, and probably always was, a massive game, it will be tough be if we play smart rugby we can pull off a win.
Good luck to the lads.'"
Always stuck up for Rob when he divided opinions but his race is now run.Being caught from behind by Miles Greenwood last week was final straw.Miles has had 2 serious leg injuries and getting on himself.

| My understanding is that the club are in the middle of big reorganisation under Mark Moore as the place is a complete mess.
Lottery staff have been moved to be part of another lottery structure (I think its Rhinos) and we get a fixed sum from the lottery each week. All the money management has gone from the back office as it was a complete mess (again) and Ramsey is looking after it.
Player contracts (without win bonuses) added up to more than budget, and all past prize money has been spent and any future prize money this year will go to players via bonuses, so we have no money, again, and may well have a big debt.
Looks to me as if we are stuck with what we have for next couple of seasons no matter where we finish and our BOD have let us down badly.

Yep, on the positive side at least it's in our own hands and we still have a chance and the ability if we can get it right, on the negative side recent form and results against the better sides don't look that promising though and with each loss the pressure mounts.
The worry is that having missed out on a lucrative pay day from the CC by losing to Fev we could miss out again by not being in the top 4.
Going on last season ending up in the "losers" comp saw a lot lose interest with the gates going down even more and I can see that being worse this time round all resulting in a big hole in the pocket.

| Yep another Half Back and a Winger - I agreed with Phil Clarke when he said that Fax are a good side but they don't have that 'X-Factor' for the top 4 - we are a good side and the players give 100% - (I also think Worrincy gets way too much abuse from the stands , other players knock on like Salty knock on no-one says a word Worrincy does it and some of the vitriol from the stands is disgusting).
May be we need to use our DR with Salford more - money doesn't grow on trees ........

I agree, if the split wasn't with the top 4 and was 8 then we would take fifth and a tilt at the playoffs, as it is it's all changed and anything below fourth now means diddly.

| In reality, with finances as they are, our only options during the run in are either loan or (may I say without upsetting Hudd-Shay too much) DR. Salford as obviously flying high, do they have an upcoming hooker/half-back to spare that could get some consistent game time at Halifax? If not, we need to explore the loan market; is there another AoB out there that we could keep hold of until the end of the season?

Perhaps some loans coming in this week?

He was caught from behind by John Davies in the CC a couple of weeks ago. Back in the day he'd have been under the posts.

It is worth mentioning that a couple of people involved with budgets and whatnot are no longer at the club, its not even worth imagining what would have happened to the club if our current board had of stepped down. Mark Moore is nobodies fool, we will be fine with him at the club.

| The reality is we are not quite good enough for top 4. 5th place is not a bad effort. Without significant funding we will struggle to mount a challenge for top 4 and can see it only getting harder. As expected if Fev, Hull KR, London and Toulouse make the top 4 it leaves us further behind.
We need a halfback and letting G Moore go in my opinion is a mistake. I thought the new signing was a halfback but instead we get another forward .
We don't have much money and this is well documented. So to put it into context maybe 5th is not a bad season.

| Agree with what's been said. Think we're probably 4 quality signings away from making a real challenge on the top 4. Need a half back, a hooker, a winger and another forward. As much as I like Ben Kaye and Brandon Moore, they're far too slow at the play the ball and it looks so pedestrian, so we can never build any real pressure. It was a breath of fresh air watching AOB at hooker earlier in the season

Like you I think Moore is a good businessman and that he is firmly in charge and it looks like he is having a clear out. I was told by an insider this week (and they may have an axe to grind so its secondhand)
- Ramsey is an accountant and has taken over everything to do with the clubs finances.
- Steele is stepping down from Board at end of season.
- Croad is still very unwell and not involved at the moment, but it was his deals on players contracts and bonus promises that means we have no cash and may be in debt this year if we don't finish in top two.
- The club shop has lost money and we are struggling to get income promised to be paid.
- The lottery team have taken over the lottery (its not been sold as I thought) and will run it independent of the club.
- RM is not happy as he has been asked to cut spend for next season if we finish outside of top four and will still have less money if we are fourth.
I have been told Moore is trying to get a new BOD and this week he was at the Shay talking to two past Board members, one who was a chairman, to try and get them involved. That to me sounds like a good base plan if they will join.
Lots of changes, which sound good, but worried about lack of cash as I can't see Moore putting in large amount.

If you give us a clue who it is then it would be easy to work out if they have an axe to grind or not.
- Ramsey is an accountant and has taken over everything to do with the clubs finances.
This was mentioned at an early fans forum if I remember along with mentioning that he had a right job to do because of actions of people no longer at the club.
- Steele is stepping down from Board at end of season.
Again this was also announced as far as I know. Or at least that he would be stepping down as chairman.
- Croad is still very unwell and not involved at the moment, but it was his deals on players contracts and bonus promises that means we have no cash and may be in debt this year if we don't finish in top two.
First bit is correct but the second part is highly doubtful and even the most biased fan will know theres no way we budgeted for top 2 this season.
- The club shop has lost money and we are struggling to get income promised to be paid.
Wouldnt be surprised given the drop in fans.
- The lottery team have taken over the lottery (its not been sold as I thought) and will run it independent of the club.
Im not 100% sure on this but haven't we been part of a joint lottery for quite a while now?
- RM is not happy as he has been asked to cut spend for next season if we finish outside of top four and will still have less money if we are fourth.
Again highly unlikely there would be less money to spend if we finish in the top 4 but again more than possible cuts would have to be made if we finish outside the top 4.
I have been told Moore is trying to get a new BOD and this week he was at the Shay talking to two past Board members, one who was a chairman, to try and get them involved. That to me sounds like a good base plan if they will join.
It will do no harm getting these 2 back, more people who want the best for the club in the long term rather than fly by nights is always a good thing.
Lots of changes, which sound good, but worried about lack of cash as I can't see Moore putting in large amount.'"
I responded in bold and as you say some of the changes will be good, its a real shame about Ian Croad been unwell as he never seems to get the credit he probably deserves in helping the club to keep running for many a year now. Id challenge anyone who thinks it easy to try and make the same commitments he will have had to make. The sad truth in RL that some Fax fans never seem to get their head around is that there is no ambition without a stackful of money and the best we can hope is to get by and still compete, which to be fair we are doing, but until someone with a boat load of money wants to get involved we are in the situation we are in for the foreseeable future. Our current board may "lack ambition" but they are doing a great job of keeping the club alive and Im sure if someone wants to help them out by sticking a few grand of their own money in they would more than welcome it.

That's a bit of a leap!
Still I'm sure the RFL will leap to help out as equally as they did recently with another club

A small point - I didn't say that I had been told we budgeted for top two, Simply that unless the club finishes in the top two the BOD have overspent and we will need to depend upon them filling a considerable gap. Hence Moore will not commit money to pay for the present BOD's mistakes.
I believe that the amounts shown in the seasons budgets and what was promised to players by the director in charge of players wages has, last season and this one, been very different numbers....hence the gap.

I think regarding the second part at the early fans forum it was mentioned about discrepancies between figures compiled between ex members of the club and what Ramsey actually found. By the sounds of it there was quite a bit of tidying up to do. IMO its better those figures were found when they were and maybe it might be a case of the the club taking a couple of steps backwards because of them but hopefully it will help in regards the long term future of the club.
