| I must say, i thought Ronnie was doing the favouring towards Haven today. Usual Haven niggly tactics again IMO, Widnes also bombed/could have had another 3 tries.

| cheers tommy, was at the match tonight and thought haven got away with murder in the first half with all that lying on, with the referee been more even in the second! granted I havent seen the supposed dubious video referee decisions yet. However in play off rugby you just need to win if we'd have gone out there and played are best and lost it would'nt of mattered and we'd be out is, but the fact is we clearly didnt play our best with four first team starters missing and a bunch of young players i'm very happy with the win

Laughton allowed both sides to slow the PTB down. And often the 10 was not 10 but 9 metres. Haven very unlucky on the obstruction. Laughton simply cant keep up with play and makes up decisions.

| Aye, actually that obstruction in the heat of the moment would have been given any other Sunday, HOWEVER to the law of the game and slowed on video, it was the right decision. It was a very short 10 too yes. But i still feel Haven were far more persistant and how many 50/50 forward passes did they get away with whereas Widnes got called for 2

| It's bluddy hard to call a forward for the ref on ground level, I'd only call it if it's blantent, a marginal one doesn't give much, if any, advantage really. And I HATE seeing Fax pulled up for dodgy forwards .... result changing decisions.
Re Ronnie's performance, he makes too many bad inconsistent calls .. seems to be swanning along nicely for 10 mins when he's got a hold then goes off on one and calls a really daft call. He was determined to pull someone for offside just before half time, just to show who was boss (he is a copper after all). And I can tell yer .... Miller wasn't even offside, and he was sin binned for it as well! Terrible call.

Let's hope that Sheff do a job on Fev. If Fev win, which is possible, then Widnes will have a home tie against Fev .... talk about falling on their feet to get home ties against the 2 most out of form teams!!

No, pal.
Widnes is in Lancashire - same county as Liverpool.
Cheshire is the name of the organisation that empty your bins.
Still, I can understand why people would want to pretend they're not from Lancashire.

| laughton was a joke again. he sin binned miller as a result of persistent infringing, when haven had conceded 2 more penalties than haven. Laughton allowed the fans to get on his back and made an emotive sin binnging. terrible.
and the key decision, when they little haven number 20 stole the ball one on one, he then gave the ball back to widnes, then penalised haven immediately for not retreating 10...try time next set.
for whatever reason, laughton favours widnes.
fair play to em.

| imo Laughton seems to panic, he gives a few bad calls quickly in a row & then tries to "even" things up... result, even worse decisions. Why the RFL give him the big games god knows.

| Loving this thread. All in all sounds like a bag of grapefruits to me.
We've all got biases, obviously I wanted widnes to win, you wanted Haven to win, and that's understandable. But let's not pretend Ronnie Laughton was completely pro widnes.
They were out to lie on in the challenge basically all bloody match. It was frustrating to say the least. They could have been penalised more than they were for that. Much more. We'd have had a more open game if that had been clamped down at the start. There were plenty of calls given against us which had me scratching my head, but at the end of the day, none of them matter in the slightest now. We're through and we had to do it the hard way. Four big players down and three weeks out doing nothing and we won it.

Its irrelevant now, but I dont agree with you. The Haven player was the dummy runner, in my opinion Webster took the dummy and went for the dummy runner. He was slightly impeded, but of his own making.

Well said chris. We won end of topic.Everytime widnes win it always the referees fault? We have not played for nearly 3 weeks so we would have lost match fitness and sharpness.Key players out in gaskell, tkl, varkulis got injured in game, morrison, duffy and fletcher and gannon played with flu.To come back from 18-4 down is a achievement and anyway we should be in superleague spending more.

Exactly what everyone's done to us for the second half of this season and gone unpunished.
