Whilst the investigation is ongoing, I would assume that the players will not be allowed to play future games to avoid making the issue worse. If found they were eligible, I would be pretty annoyed if it were my club especially if they lost and were relegated.

In the RFL world the game last weekend will probably count so that they become eligible to play on.

You would hope it was upto the clubs whether to play them, those who were confident that their case was watertight could go ahead and play them knowing the risks, those who think they've messed up would leave them in the stands.

Well we played Ostick and I can't believe for one minute the club were aware of the situation considering the potential( and actual) impact it would have.

Likewise with Donny, could completely scupper their season.

Neither the Club, the club we played or the RFL until a supporter of the club we played read it on here.

I would be surprised if any club really understands all the rules...

I'm afraid it's the responsibilityof each & every club to know whether or not their players are eligible for any competition, simple as that.

I can`t believe that someone from our Club didn`t know about this as the player certainly did , if they didn`t then it was negligence on someones part however the fact it was mentioned on here did alert the other club and the RFL . It should never have come to that though he should never have been played and it wasn`t as if he did anything in the match anyway .
I`m sorry to say although it seems harsh I have no sympathy whatsoever ,if you play ineligible players for whatever reason it`s the Clubs responsibility and they know the rules. It`s up to who ever has the job of keeping an eye on these things at the club to do their job correctley. Why should the RFL be looking at every player ,from every team, every week and sending out notices to every team saying " You can`t play player A this week `cos he was banned for 3 weeks , can`t play player B at another club re` CC cup tieing and then all the Duals . It`s not their problem it`s the Clubs .

I don't disagree I was merely pointing out that on this occasion it MIGHT never have come to light if someone hadn't posted it on here.

I also agree that it is down to the club, you should know exactly who is playing for you and their current status and availability.

Why wouldn't they post it on a social networking site ? It doesn't matter how the info gets out does it ? The fact that someone is inept in their job is the problem. I pointed something out similar in an email to some of the club directors within the last 12 months and two directors replied that they don't really understand twitter, facebook etc. That doesn't make it right though, the fact that the players & employees are briefed about such behaviour & still partake in it is the problem, a bit similar to gambling on a game you might be playing in !

I agree too it is the responsibility of the club to know who is eligible, but it's also in the interest of the wider game to avoid incidents like this and it would have been better all around if the RFL had advised clubs on player availability.

His status is now 'on loan'. Doesn't mean that Dewsbury won't cop for it, though.

Have to ask -- in the rules, if a dual reg player does not qualify for the requirements to play after the cut off date, how does he then qualify as an on-loan player after the signing deadline?

It all sounds a farce and this should be spotted in real time with any attempt to field an ineligible player punished by playing with less players for the game.

The player in question, former Siddal junior's status is now "on loan" as i understand things.

Was talking to his dad a few weeks ago - he was asking me how long it took to get to Whitehaven, because his lad was playing there on the Sunday for Dewsbury as he was on loan there for the rest of the season

I believe he was on less than the magic number of £20000.
