| sounds like hunslet got a great council aswell,, not
A Hunslet supporters group has blasted Leeds City Council and launched a petition after their decision to charge the Hawks an additional £5,000 for use of the South Leeds Stadium.
The newly-promoted Hawks were handed a boost in pre-season when SKY announced it would televise their home game against Dewsbury on Thursday 31st March.
However, the news soon became bitter-sweet for the club when Leeds City Council increased the stadium rental for the evening by £5,000, the same amount the club would receive from SKY for allowing the game to be televised.
The Hunslet Independent Supporters Trust have now launched a petition to get the council to reverse its decision.

I agree 100%.
I used to respect Bubba's opinions even if I didn't agree with them but I see that he has finally sunk to the level of his knuckle-dragging illiterate friends on the shaymen forum who constantly pour out their venom, half-truths, rumours and inaccuracies.
Neutrals often quote this hatred as a 2 way thing but:
1. How often do you see a comment in the Courier by a Fax fan against FCHT? Very, very rarely. The other way around? Constantly.
2. How often do you see a negative thread/comment on this forum about FCHT? Never! The other way around? Regular as clockwork.
This is a Rugby League forum and is confined, in the main, to discussion of "The Greatest Game" but a good number of Shay fans seem more interested in us and our game than their team and their game.

| I honestly think that Siddal should now see about shifting the game to the Stobart and moving the Fax game back to 3PM as the kickoff times offered by Calderdale Council are clearly unacceptable and they would get a much bigger crowd for the Siddal game at Widnes. Well done Calderdale, more lost income.
After all the money spent on the Shay you would think that they would cash in on any opportunity to recoup some of it but no, not Calderdale.

| The decision to close the stadium seems daft. I await officeboys request for information from the council - I can only assume the risk of all day drinking and the cost for staffing the stadium all day has driven the decision. Better safe than sorry.
I can't understand why anybody is responding to Bubba

I don't know if you're looking for a bite or whether you are just a bit thick, but let's cut down such a claim.
Firstly, 4 sets of fans.
Let's be honest, 95% of spectators in any potential double header will be Fax or Widnes fans. You'll get a few connected to Siddal and CLL that don't support either team and follow Leeds,Cas, Bradford etc. So firstly, it's not 4 sets of fans to be so blunt.
Secondly I don't know if you want to define 'crossing each others paths' but that situation happens up and down the country all day with people leaving one thing before the next lot 'take part'. Are we to presume you're sh*t scared of going to the cinema or getting on buses/trains because it involves 2 sets of people crossing paths?
Finally, what accidents are we talking about here? Will people be more inclined to trip over or fall down a set of stairs because there's "4" sets of supporters in one stadium at the same time?
To round it off, a challenge. If you can name we one accident waiting to happen that is different a) to having just 2 sets of fans in the stadium and b) that is Shay specific and for some reason wouldn't potentially happen at Millenium Magic or Warrington finals day I will send £20 to the FaxBuilder fund straight away....
The floor is yours...

How do you work that one out mate?
There were 6 sets in Warrington, and 14 sets of fans crossing each others paths in Cardiff and in MUCH greater numbers. I am sure the Shay can accommodate all fans, safely!!
There is no health and safety issue, just the jobs-worth council finding problems that don't exist.

I will stick up for Fax on the football forum when appropriate but I cant on this one.
The Council do seem to have dropped a clanger with regards the H&S issue - unless they do come up with some credible reasons. What has annoyed me though is the club questioning the Council's committment. That is what leaves an extremely sour taste in the mouth and does the rugby club no favours at all - certainly not in future relationships with the Council. Bloodyhell, the last thing we want is the Council thinking the two clubs are not greatful for the £5m+ East Stand expense and increasing the rent our clubs pay.
Maybe Fax should have just accepted the original decision?

| I'd suggest Siddal now ask to switch the venue to the Stobart for a 3pm Kick-Off as this fixture will barely reach an attendance of 500 people under the circumstances.

| Bubba - it doesn't make economic sense. It's their stadium - they are losing out. Forgive the public for trying to point it out. Your deference to the council sums up the problems we face with local government today. Organisations like Halifax RFLC are the ones that end up changing things for the better by having the balls to say what is right. Thanks for the £5m CC but you're still a monolithically stupid decision making body. People like Bubba deserve this council - the rest of the sensible people don't.

The Fax press release (toys out of pram) are not about the Council losing out. Its about the rugby club not getting their own way and claiming the Council do not support the rugby club. Two entirely different things.

| Bubba. Read it again, its not about Halifax RLFC getting their own way, its a sensible statement towards a ludicruous decision made by the Council It does point out that they will be financial loosers in the decision, it does point out that Sidall will be financial loosers in the decison and it does point out that Halifax RLFC will be loosers in the decision.
In fact it is a complete Loose - Loose situation. Now I have been to many management seminars and I have never heard this phrase used as a possitive!!!!
Perhaps Calderdale Council "JUST DO NOT GET IT".
I have e-mailed the council to ask the person who made this decision, in the name of Health and Safety, to come out and tell people what safety issues there are around having the two games back to back, after all even together the crowd figure is not likely to be anywhere near if we drew a superleague club at home in the next round (if we beat Castleford Lock Lane, no counting eggs here).

Possibly, but at least it shows the feelings attached to the decision.
Looks like Fax are trying to work with Siddal and organise a good days rugby only to be scuppered by council halfwits.
If it's a stewarding thing then what about asking Siddal to assist on this front?

| Quote ="Bubba"Regardless Siddal should be paying full commercial cost for using the stadium. One of the Siddal chaps argument in the Courier was something along the lines of "How can the Council turn us down when we are in a recession, bla, bla, bla". In other words "they should let us play there and we will happily pay".
I think the press release by Fax is simply embarassing.
If this is the type of support? We are only a year into an East Stand which Calderdale Council decide to allocate funds for to complete when I would guess the majority of the Borough would have probably opposed it. Yet the club are now happy to publicly question the Council's committment?
What is it about Fax and shameful behaviour?'"
Usual rubbish from yourself. Why is it embarrassing? The Council again show how useless they are and poor at organizing things. The club have said so and maybe it will get the Council thinking. How come its OK to have 3 or 4 games at one venue in Cardiff, Warrington, Headingley having 10s of thousands of people in attendance but not 2 games which are likely to struggle to reach 1500? There is no Health & Safety issue and why cant the Council communicate properly with the clubs before making such decisions based on nonsense?
As for shameful behaviour the soccer lot are way in front! If certain people involved at the Soccer club had done jobs properly and built the upgrades with Quality then the Council would not need to finish things off. The Shameful actions of the Soccer club in deliberately getting kicked out of a cup. The Shameful behaviour of the Soccer fans by claiming Fax do not pay rent etc and spreading slanderous rumours?

So the clubs must show their gratitude at all times by wringing caps, touching forelocks and capitulating on every issue?
The council have invested a lot of public money in The Shay and, as a council tax payer, I would like to see a return on that investment by maximisation of revenue streams. They are hardly doing that in this instance.
