| I could never remember if it was O'Loughlin or just Loughlin, he went on to play at Bradford I think. His poor goal kicking in the final compared to Colin Whitfield made a massive difference too. Whitfield converting Wilf's try from the sideline and Loughlin missing the conversion of his own try was crucial.

Was it Newlove or Medley that hardly played for us before going.
Might have been neither!

| Medders got a very serious head injury playing for us, it almost cost him more than his career & was very lucky to survive it, maybe under the better medical rules nowadays it might have finished his playing career. He's a lovely bloke, great coach with the kids, i understand he's recently left Bulls to take up a role at the RFL.

Wasn't he in charge of the youth setup at the Bulls and has gone to the RFL in a similar capacity, highly thought of I hear.

| I was in the corner where Pendlebury knocked the ball out of Loughlin / Ledger's hands as he was diving to score. Everyone shouted 'dropped it !'
In hindsight, 27 years later (!) it was a bloody amazing tackle.

It was amazing, added to his drop goal and putting Wombat through the gap for his try all in all a MOM performance in my eyes.

| Haha, of course not.
The photo was taken in the Isle of Man after the Charity Shield match, when I asked him to pose(ish) for it he said why would you want a picture of me.
A great player who is a down to earth top bloke.

| I know, was n't a problem as we were in a bar with Beefy England, Kevin Ward, John Joyner and the Beardmores, not much room to move as I remember.
Good times on the Isle of Manic!

| 1987 is firmly imprinted in my mind not just for the Cup Final but that was the year i started supporting Halifax AGAIN.
I used to go up to Thrum Hall regularly as a school boy, didn't see many away games as my family were not interested in Rugby League, started work and hardly missed a game.
1975 my employer sent me to Leicester, took Mrshalifaxjohn to be with me, along came halifaxstephen, halifaxpaul and halifaxsusan, HRLFC to my disgrace weren't part of my thinking.
1987, still in Leicester switched the television on not knowing what sport was on, incredibly Halifax v Hull KR.
Took halifaxstephen and halifaxpaul to Headingley for the semi and then on to the final.
Next game was away at Wigan and the cup was on the front seat of the team bus.
We lost
Since then we have hardly missed a game, winter Rugby made that easy. lived in Leicester a little bit longer and then my employer sent me to Nottingham.
I remember on a few occasions leaving Nottingham for an evening game only to get there and find it off.
Luckily early retirement meant I could return to Halifax, a number of years ago, I brought Halifaxstephen, halifaxpaul with me, unfortunately halifaxsusan stayed there.
o'h yes nearly forgot allowed mrshalifaxjohn to accompany me back home.
So you see 1987 is imprinted in my mind not just for the cup, but for reuniting me with a great club and a great Town.
I appologise for boring you all, but I started the thread so I feel free to add to it.
Next please.

I bet even your mate Charlie didn't even know that!

I've spoken to Wilf ball the George more than once since (NR cup final win over Fev springs to mind) and I asked him if with the current video ref technology his try would of been awarded, he took great pleasure in telling me that without a doubt he scored that try. I found no reason to doubt him!!! Top Man
